Gaetano's Ratings and Reviews
This was our third visit and it was as outstanding as the first two. The food is incredible and the wait staff was excellent. Busy place, as usual! If anyone asks me for a recommendation for Italian food, this is my TOP pick! Thank you, Gaetano's, for a fantastic dining experience!
Always enjoyed the food. We took 2 couples from out of state and raved about the food. I ordered the ribeye steak because the last time it was beyond excellent. The steak was very fatty . It didn't even look like the one I ordered the first time . At $40.00 I expected the same quality. I'm thankful our guests didn't order based on my raving how wonderful it was . I would have been embarrassed.
Had dinner with a couple of friends on Friday night. It was the restaurant's 70th anniversary and lots of fun with people coming in costume to reflect the old neighborhood in north Denver. We had a wonderful waitress, great service. I think they may have been a little understaffed - our waitress was covering a lot of territory. The menu is fantastic and each of us really enjoyed our entree. I had the chicken piccata and it was absolutely delicious. We also got a very reasonably priced bottle of champagne - they have a very nice wine list. Overall, the restaurant is great but it's a bit noisy.
We love this restaurant- definitely has an old school vibe. Red banquets and dirty martinis make for a great night out. My only complaint of any kind was we called to add to our reservation and they said they couldn't accommodate. When we showed up to our table it ended up being 6 people at a table for 8 with 2 empty spots. We would really have enjoyed being able to have our friends join us, especially as there was clearly space for them. Food is great, service is great!
Loved this place! Loved the atmosphere - service was stellar, food was great! 2 of us had bottomless mimosas and 2 had the bloody mary bar. The bloody mary bar had tons of goodies - I had the pork belly eggs benedict w/fruit & it was delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. We will definitely be back!
While the alfredo sauce and lobster ravioli (you only get 6 raviolis fyi) are to die for, the last 3 times I have visited, several weeks apart, have been far less than stellar. Service was unbelievably slow each time, whether it was lunch or a late dinner, and we did not receive any explanation or apology that they were short on staff. They just seem to run that slow. And no, they weren't busy. Plenty of open tables. To add insult to injury, the water glasses aren't clean: covered in fingerprints, crusted on residue from the dishwasher, and once lipstick still around the rim. Finally, on my last visit, I took a friend visiting Denver whom I hadn't seen in 11 years, expecting to show her some great Italian food. The lunch menu at 12:30pm was all brunch food, like eggs Benedict, with dinner entrees completely unavailable. I don't go to an Italian restaurant for American breakfast food after noon. I was extremely disappointed. And again service was incredibly slow, and my water glass was dirty. Luckily we had a decade of events to catch up on so I hope my friend didn't notice too much, but I certainly did. This was Gaetano's last chance, and we won't be back.
It was our first time here, and we had an unfortunate first impression upon arriving. We showed up on time for a reservation, checked in with the hostess, and were told they were just waiting for the table to leave. We sat down and waited near the hostess stand for 25 minutes while watching other people come in and get sat. After 25 minutes we asked the hostess how much longer we would have to wait and they asked me if I had a reservation. We explained we already checked in and have been waiting for 25 minutes and they said they had a lot a lot of reservations. They looked at the seating chart and finally sat us at a table. They had clearly forgotten about us. From there the experience was fine. Their server was nice and helpful and the food tasted good. We had an appetizer, the Burrata cheese plate, then we had the chicken Parm and a chicken Caprese, and a couple of glasses of wine. We recommend the chic parm as it was good and huge.
I've been to the "new" (not so new anymore) Gaetano's a fair amount over the years. The food is always comforting, maybe not your mother's Italian food but pretty good for a restaurant! I've never had a bad meal... It can get pretty loud at times, mostly due to larger groups. The wait staff is always really nice but it seems routine that you'll wait a bit longer for them to first come over, sometimes it takes a bit to get seated for your reservation. All in all, it's worth the wait, worth trying Italian your family didn't make, worth the atmosphere AND worth the drinks!
Gaetano's is our go-to in metro Denver for neighborhood Italian. Our fifth or sixth time there in two years and it never disappoints. We went for appetizers and cocktails before a how downtown and the food and the service were just as outstanding as when we go for a long birthday or anniversary dinner.
Great food but snails-pace service! The appetizer of poblano peppers was excellent and so was the glass of wine. I had a wonderful flank steak salad. My only compliant is that the wait staff doesn't seem to be very attentive. This is not the first time. I find that I get the attention I need when I sit at the bar instead. Otherwise, i love this place and that is why I keep coming back!
Our server was Ray and she was great. The gluten free noodles were not as good as previous times. It may have been the change in the carbonara from creamy to traditional? Everything else was off the hook!!! Save room for desert the lemon cream cake is a must.
