Housed in the historic North Denver Highlands Gaetano's was originally opened in the 1930's by the Smaldone family. Today it is an homage to the classic cocktail era with leisurely lunches, rustic and fresh Italian food and a late night neighborhood gathering.
Please join us for our awarded "Best Bloody Mary Bar" by Westword 4 years running. Also a great Italian style brunch with 6 different flavors of Bottomless Mimosas.
We celebrated my husbands birthday with him, myself and our two 8 year old twins. Everything was great from food, service, drinks etc. We recently moved back to the area and are so thrilled Gaetano’s is still the same as we remember-delicious!
Made me look good on Valentines ! Complimentary Wine and Roses ?!!! Great food and service ! I’ll be back for sure. Thank you
Gaetano’s for Valentine’s Day was fantastic! The ambiance is so cozy and perfect for a date. It was crazy busy, but our service was impeccable and the food was delicious. They even delivered our check with a single red rose. We had a wonderful evening!
My second time to visit for dinner . Old style Italian , both the food and the atmosphere . A great value !
Tables are too compact. I sat at a regular table next to a booth where Gaetanos placed a chair on the edge. We kept bumping into each other due to the tight proximity. It was extremely noisy and there was nothing about the place that said 'Valentines Day Ambiance'. The staff was running around like crazy and this nothing friendly about our waitress. We never were asked if we wanted another drink or had our water container refilled. She literally dropped the check on the table without a 'thank you' or even 'hope to see you again'. Terrible experience for Valentines Day.
Best Italian food I’ve ever had! The sauce was spicy, bread crunchy, the salad crisp and the meatballs were excellent! The service was great! our server was friendly and helpful. I loved everything about this place. We will definitely be back soon!
Had a great Valentine Eve there. They included a rose and complimentary champagne. We had not been there in years and were happy to see it doing well with great food and service.
Table was small. It was a constant battle to fit plates, bread, and drinks. Ordered drinks right away when seated and waited around 20 minutes for them to arrive. Restaurant had not filled up yet, so curious over the delay. Server never initially asked about appetizers .....was going to order one until the long wait for drinks. By the time the drinks arrived and having sat there ready to order for quite some time, decided to forego an appetizer and just order dinner. Server put in wrong dish so my meal came out incorrect and I sent it back. My wife was nearly finished with her meal when mine arrived a 2nd time. Hard to get past the general lack of interest our server (Alyssa) seemed to have with us. Wish we had been seated at a bigger table with a different server. We do not live close by but had been here previously and had a delightful time so came by again. I dount we will be back anytime soon.
My favorite Italian restaurant in Denver. The prices are just right and the food is so good!
Always recommend...but last night was not good...mostly bad service. 8 minutes late for our reservation gave our table away. Forgot our appetizer completely. Had two waiters, one didn’t know what the other was doing. Date nite, was really disappointed because I usually love this restaurant!
Phenomenal. The service, the food, the atmosphere. We can't wait to go back. McKensie our server was terrific.
Drove from Colorado Springs to find great Italian and I got lucky. Lunch special is a good value. Dinner has large portions. Happy hour appetizers (Calamari) are a great value. Love the Mobster history.
Wade is one of the best servers I’ve met, I got to drunk but he made sure I got home ok ; great service!
We've been frequenting Gaetano's for years. But this last visit may have been our last. My wife ordered a margherita pizza, but ordered it in the traditional Italian style - no marinara sauce, just olive oil, basil, mozarella and tomatoes. It arrived with no tomatoes. Our waiter took the order correctly.
When her pizza arrived it had no tomatoes. When we asked for her pizza to be fixed properly, we were told that tomatoes woud be an upcharge of $2.00, to which I literally laughed. So, no sauce, but extra for tomatoes? Yes, our waiter said (and probably shouldn't have) that Gaetano's now upcharges for everything, including an extra side of salad dressing.
The idea that this place claims to be authentic Italian is now laughable. A traditional Italian margherita pizza is olive oil, basil, mozarella and tomatoes.
Our server also said he'd remove the upcharge when I complained, since the order wasn't done properly to begin with. But the upcharge was never removed.
$2.00 is insignificant. It's the total lack of customer satisfaction.
Shame on you Gaetano's. If you go, bring extra money in case you want tomatoes, or extra salad dressing. Or maybe crushed red pepper.
Great food ... small tables ... lots of noise when full.
Great good and service
Nick made it a great evening
We love Gaetano's for the old school ambience as well as the excellent service; not to mention the food is great as well. Nick was our server this time and he was amazing! We highly recommend this place.
Very good food. Very good waiter, Nick. Way too noisy.
Yummy food and drinks.
I have visited Gaetano's many times but never on a Friday night when they are featuring their complementary entertainment. Derek the Sinatra impersonator roamed around the restaurant serenading random tables including ours, he was fantastic. Of course, I ordered one of my favorite dishes; Shrimp Scampi and the food was fresh, hot, delicious, and the portion was plentiful. The staff was lovely, polite, friendly and super helpful. I loved the nostalgic gangster riff atmosphere with Al Capone and other mobsters images littered throughout the restaurant. If you're looking for an excellent Italian restaurant I would recommend this little gem to everyone.
We love a 3-generation family meal at Gaetano's. The food is always great - the bar and decor provide a fun,old NW Denver neighborhood vibe.
Mimosas left much to be desired Food was not up to what we expect at Geatanos. Disappointed.
Excellent food it’s a must eat at restaurant !
As always the food was amazing. A little loud, and a little crowded in the corner booth, but we still enjoyed it.
We typically go on our anniversary.
Food wasn't anything spectacular. We went for brunch and I had the breakfast panini and my friend had spaghetti and a huge meatball. Neither of us were that impressed with our choices. The bloody mary bar was worth it. For ten bucks, you get a hefty pour of vodka and the rest is up to you. I filled my glass w a pickle, cheese, bacon, and about 10 shrimp.
Gaetanos is a Denver must! Wonderful brunch with an incredible mimosa selection & Bloody Mary bar!
Also celebrated our wedding anniversary at Gaetanos & had an amazing dinner! Check out their website for event dates! Fedora Nights are incredible!
Great Italian food and atmosphere. Recommend a visit
Fabulous restaurant that never fails us. We yake most out-of-town guests to Gaetano's so they can experience true Italian dishes. Always delicious. Never a disappointment.
Great Italian restaurant in Denver. One of the better Italian places I have been to, will be returning. Thanks Gaetano's!
Just outstanding!! How have I never been here before? New favorite place for epic Italian!
It was a good experience. I received my food and the lasagna still had the plastic wrap underneath.
Great food and service.
Awesome food and service, great atmosphere
Ron is the best we had a great time best Italian restaurant in Denver
Just the best place...not fancy but great ambiance and always terrific food. We thought the reservation was for 6:30...but it was at 6! They still had our table ready and couldn't have been nicer about our mistake. From the owner to the staff, everyone is friendly and helpful. We just keep going back...!
Bolognese, Carbonara and Spaghetti with meatballs all very good
We must have gotten unlucky, but based on our experience, I am surprised at all the great reviews and would never want to go back.
Our server seemed strange, like he was on uppers or something, left mid-conversation, and seemed to forget our drinks. We ordered two off the cocktail menu, but they were so sweet we couldn’t drink them. Wasted money.
Thought it was strange they served warm toasted bread with no butter, and no pepper for oil and vinegar. The bread was dry and lacked sustenance, the crust was burnt and just broke right off.
We ordered the stuffed shells, which were on the smaller side, and did not enjoy the flavor of the sauces or the texture of the shells. We ordered a ny strip, medium well, and it came completely charred (if you take the time to cook it low and slow, this doesn’t happen, though I also know many will think it unholy to order cooled this way...), but the smashed potatoes and zucchini were great. The bruschetta seemed a small portion for the price, but the bread was nicely toasts so it was crunchy but chewy enough to not completely crumble.
The hostess was friendly and accommodated us with a different seat since we needed a bit more space with our baby.
Excellent food and service. Lively for the holidays.
