I've been here several times and enjoy it each time. Good French inspired food, really good service. Not loud so you can actually have a conversation whether its with your spouse, a date or work colleagues. I love that the wait staff is not intrusive but always seem to be there when you need them.
EXCEPTIONAL service! The moment you enter, you will feel immediately welcomed in this establishment. The cuisine offered here speaks for itself, but what makes this restaurant special and memorable is the staff. Highly recommend, especially pre and post theater.
Made reservations for Thanksgiving Day lunch and I was not aware lunch was buffet rather than prefixed dining which should be noted clearing at the time of making reservations. I was under the impression that pre-fixed lunch was a good value $68 per person, but upon arrival for buffet the value is not work $68. Also for buffet style, juice and coffee should be complementary not in addition to the $68. Although the staff was very nice, he was only able to offer us water, so I was taken back that 20% service gratuity was automatically added to a standard party of 4 and on top of tax. Also, for buffet without wait service, why is the 20% service gratuity for? The overall experience was a let down and unfortunately left a bad dining experience that I would not recommend to others.
We went there for Sunday brunch before theater and really enjoyed our experience. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and given the kind of table I had requested, with an offer to change to a different one if we wanted to. Always a nice gesture at any restaurant. The server was wonderful and efficient and did a great job of helping with our selections and making sure all went smoothly. He and the hostess also arranged a way for me to reach the restroom without walking stairs, There are no stairs to enter the restaurant from the street, just to the restroom in the hotel lobby one flight up.
The only disappointing thing was that the entree we both chose. The Eggs Royale (a smoked salmon benedict) wasn't as good as we were expecting it to be because of the hollandaise sauce. If we return, we would go choose something else or go for dinner instead.
We had a wonderful pre-fixe meal that was five courses for $42 without wine pairings and $79 with wine pairings. My husband had short ribs which he thought were amazing, and I had duck a l'orange as an entree. The service was fantastic. The food was great. The price was good. I can't complain about anything. I intend to go back with friends in the future.
I selected this restaurant for a pre-theater dinner based on its great location. The wait staff was cordial and the food was delicious. I did think that the service was a bit slow. Nice ambiance - good for a quiet dinner. I would recommend this restaurant - good for a romantic dinner.
We went out for dinner after work to celebrate my husband's dinner with our son and his girlfriend. We had a very nice time . Very good service, nice quiet place. We choose a pri-fixed dinner with paring wine and were pleasantly surprised that they do not cut the portions. Onion soup was yummy. The filet mignon was very good. Red snapper appetizer was OK. But overall we enjoyed our food and had a good time.
This is a reliable Sunday brunch purveyor in the very French Sofitel hotel. "Bottomless" Bloody Mary or Mimosas was a good deal and kept coming freely. Excellent eggs benedict, croque madame, other standard brunch fare. Excellent service. Quiet ambiance, permits conversation easily.
I went during restaurant week. We had the Corn soup, duck and apple galette. The corn soup is served cold but it was very good and plentiful. It had nice flavor and wasn't salty. The duck was excellent. I think it was Asian flavors. It was cooked medium. The skin had a lot of flavor and was not fatty so rendered nicely. Nice amount of duck. The apple galette was nice but could have used a little ice cream. The apple was tart and the ice cream would have added a nice sweetness. I would go back just for the duck.
I decided to try Gaby's because it was close to the show I was attending and because it was participating in restaurant week. I was impressed with the quality of the service and cuisine. The French 75 was well-made and not at all sweet (I hate sweet cocktails). The duck was served at just the right temperature of medium rare and the sauce had the required complexity of sweet and spice. The burrata starter was hearty, and the lemon curd was delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. A good place for me to return to in the future because it's close enough to the theatre district without the craziness of Times Square places.
Fantastic! The food here is very consistent. We ate at this place last winter too. Came here for restaurant week recently and the food is wonderful. My branzino was perfectly crispy on the outside and my husbands steak was perfectly cooked medium and tender, better than a lot of steakhouses. Flavor is great. Would definitely come back.
I remembered the first time I was here, I had a wonderful meal, so I decided to come back during restaurant week. Very thoughtful menu, including my favorite duck. Food was really good as expected, But the service was impeccable, I was dining alone, the staff was very attentive, made me feel so comfortable, I was never rushed, which is the most important thing to me dining out by myself. My compliment to the staff and the chef, job well done!!👍👍👍
My daughter is gluten and dairy free. It was a little bit of a stretch to get selections without dairy, but lots of gluten free choices. For example, she could get gluten free toast but there was no margerine, only butter. We chose the fixe pris menu for reasonable cost. However, the sparkling water was $9.00 and the mimosa was $18.00 - a bit high I thought. So with the tip it cost us $101.00. Service was very good, although we did have to get up and ask for jam - to compensate for no butter. It was definitely not crowded at noon and the ambiance was lovely. I would choose it again.
The service was excellent, but my main course, wild salmon, was very disappointing. Too dry and overcooked. I couldn't finish it. Desserts: cheesecake was dry, and the creme brulee was tasty. The creme brulee would've been better served at room temperature, rather than served cold.
