Gabriel's - Santa Fe Ratings and Reviews
Visiting from upstate New York and desiring true New Mexico cuisine; on the recommendation of many of my husband‘s coworkers, we tried Gabriel‘s. The reviews were all over the place, but we had zero complaints. A picture of silver margaritas for $45 provided us with ample cocktails for the duration of our meal and were delicious and not “weak”. The tableside guacamole was the best I’ve ever had and I do try it everywhere we go. Perfect texture, spice, quantity for two, and a cooling accompaniment to the chips and spicy salsa! My husband had the chicken chili relleno and I had the seafood fajitas. There was a very large fillet of red snapper, three big scallops, and three shrimp, ample onions, peppers, pico de Gallo, additional guacamole, and pinto beans on the side and for soft tender 4 corn tortillas (they allow a choice of corn or flour). My husband had never tried a relleno before and he loved it and I will tell you this was the most generous and delicious sizzling platter of fajitas I have ever enjoyed. We were full but had to try dessert. I can’t say no to homemade churros anywhere and the dolce de leche dipping sauce was decadent. My husband had the tres leche cake and of course it was moist, delicious and served with a little bit of chocolate sauce. The service was perfectly timed, attentive, and the restaurant couldn’t have been more professional! This is not fast food south western food; this is the real deal!
We went to Gabriel’s for a birthday celebration. It was a busy night, so the last-minute decision to make a reservation via Open Table was a good idea. Our food - crab enchiladas and a shrimp/scallop dish - was fantastic, as was the guacamole prepared table-side. The staff sang to the birthday celebrant & provided a complementary dessert. We’ll definitely come back again!
Gabriel's is the best in Northern New Mexico for traditional Mexican food. The staff, food, and cleanliness of the restaurant are superb. The flavor, size of the serving, and the price of the food have always been consistently excellent.
We were seated in a room off to the side that could easily seat 40 people. There was one other couple and they left. We waited for our server to ask for a different location, but finally had to find management to be relocated. My food was also just fair, my steak fajitas were chewy and the veggies we’re greasy.
It was a busy evening the night before Thanksgiving. Have reservations !
Once seated, the ambiance is vibrant and lively. The Guacamole made at the table is always fun and tasty.
The fajitas, plato de carnitas, arroz con pollo and San Diego fish tacos were all good. Our group of four really enjoyed the dinner at Gabriels.
We live in Texas and go to Santa Fe once or twice year. Gabriel's has always been at the top of our list. We were very disappointed the Thursday night we were there. The service was poor, we had to ask for waiter more than once. One member in the party was given a dinner she didn't order and we were through eating before they brought her dinner. We had to ask for the dinner. The table guacamole for 5 was more like enough for 3. Usually there is more guacamole than we can eat. Our tacos were soggy and only had meat in them. What happened to all of the extras? We order the normally excellent frozen margaritas and unanimously everyone said they were weak and had no taste. Sorry Gabriel's you are no longer our favorite.
First visit with tasty food and good atmosphere. Will not return because of poor service.
Service and our Waiter receives 1 star-he didn't ask about our food after it was served. I asked another server for a beverage refill and to bring our food bill.
All would have been better if our server returned to the table after taking food order.
The best Tex-Mex restaurant but it is 10 miles outside Santa Fe, so very few know about it. The table side guacamole is it's signature appetizer, but this time we also ordered the queso. It came in a huge serving bowl and was even better than the guac! Great margaritas, too!
Gabriel's is known for its dependably good Northern New Mexico food and a great bar, a favorite of our out-of-town guests. All seven of us were served quickly and accurately, and with the proper amount of continuing attention. A fun occasion enjoyed by all!
Food great, love the New Mexican decor and ambiance. Service slow, had to request water twice, took a long time to order meals, no waiters returned to check on us during the meal.. BUT food brought promptly and fortunately there were not problems to require a waiter's assistance.
Reasonably priced but not inexpensive.
Such a Fabulous dinner! Tableside guacamole was perfect and followed by the crab enchiladas. Then we topped it off with sopapillas with honey and butter. They have a outdoor patio which looked fun but it was starting to rain. The drive there from Sante Fe was worth it too!
