Let me get right to the point - this was a very disappointing experience for us. For the amount we paid for this “special Valentine’s dinner” (we were celebrating my husband’s birthday), the 7- course menu (excluding the amuse bouche and petit fours) was “just ok”. I didn’t want to use mediocre to describe it, as there were some fantastic elements like the Dry aged duck and red apple consommé en gelèe. Everything else fell flat in my opinion. I just didn’t think it was worth that kind of money. For a very steep price tag of $1K, every bite should’ve elicited a “wow!”, but it didn’t. Not to mention from a Michelin rated restaurant at that. To add insult to injury, our server announced at the start of dinner that they have added a dish to their menu which is Risotto and black truffle for an additional $50 pp. We declined, as we’ve anticipated a wonderful evening ahead of us. We couldn’t have been more wrong.
Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. Per Se, Jean Georges, and Le Bernardin would be considered reasonable compared to GK, with amazing food to boot. Alinea in Chicago is very much worth the price tag - from start to finish. You would leave on cloud 9 and have the fondest experience ever ( we still dream about it to this day). And if you are ever in Oslo, Maeemo is top notch.
We will not come back.
Exception food, wonderful ambience, terrific service. Couldn't have been better!
Amazing !!! Nothing else to say ! Couldn't be better.
Not enough food
A tasting sit down should not last 4 hours
Left the restaurant very hungry
For what I paid for dinner 1,300 all of the above comments should of been addressed
Portions were extremely small only to have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes between each course.
If your are to charge these prides, all of these issues should of already been addressed.
Overall, the salvaging grace was that the food although not sufficient was in fact very good.
Dissatisfied customers should have an reinvite to correct the wrong with some type of a courtesy reduction in order not to lose a patron.
Our trip was
Excellent food and service - what more can you ask.
The food and service were outstanding. The setting was lovely: a subdued, pleasant ambience that allowed for quiet diner conversations.
However, as with many high-end restaurants, the portions were very small. Certainly not satisfying for anyone with a hearty appetite.
Good but too expensive compare to similar fine dining restaurantes.
Second time here in the last year. Not to be missed when in NYC.
Let’s start with the fact that the restaurant was virtually empty, but once I received the check and saw that my guest had two scotches at $50each, it started to click. This restaurant has some brilliant moments of epicurean magic, and the wait staff is superb, but the expense relative to the actual food and wine is ridiculous. We ordered on the low end of the wine spectrum and it was still $500/ person. This is absurd and nothing about the dinner was remotely memorable.
This was my third and last time dining here.
Quite an excellent meal. The main dining room only has a multi course price fixed meal so make sure you leave enough time or eat in the bar area.
Fantastic as always
It was a dining experience. It was expensive, but you don't go to a place like this without expecting to spend. It was lovely all around.
My first time at this restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic! From staff, who accommodated us in the dining room but with lounge menu option ( we were in a rush for the show), thru meals and desert. Food was incredibly tasty, well prepared, fresh ingredients, fantastic combinations of flavors! Really really liked it.
Ordered tuna tartar, sturgeon appetizers, beef filet mignon, sea bass, chocolate desert... super delicious!
We really enjoy our dinner.
This place was as good as it gets. The food was incredible and service stellar. My mom took me for my 60th birthday. We had the 9 course tasting menu and walked out in awe of the whole experience. Definitely will be back.
This was my third visit and it was by far the best. We chose the Chef's Carte Blanche menu. We had an 8:00 reservation and time was not an issue. If you choose this menu, be aware it can take more than four hours, which may be too long for some. We felt every course was exquisite and the service impeccable.
We selected this restaurant for my mother's birthday celebration, as we are were together after many years. The ambience was not special. The dishes - just ok. The portions were seriously way too tiny and main course nothing special. The server was describing where the grits came from - some farm 2 hours away - who cares about that?
The wait staff are fabulous. From each setup to the next. Each course was explained throughly and if I missed something - they kindly gave me the details again.
Two standout courses included a Swiss chard cracker and the cocoa pod filled with bibs and 3 pieces of fantastic quality chocolates.
Waited over 30mins for 9pm reservation. Free glass of champagne helped at the bar but still not the best experience given their follow up multiple time to ensure we would be there at 9pm
We really enjoyed this. The space is gorgeous and the food divine.
Outstanding evening outrageously wonderful food. A gastronomic treat
By far the best meal and service I have ever experienced. The staff was impeccable with their coordinated service and each course on the cart Blanch menu was better than the last. We were offered a kitchen tour and introduction to the chef and kitchen staff. Worth every penny and will be the benchmark for culinary experience for the remainder of my life. Go here now!
Excellent food and service.
Clearly a restaurant operating in full stride. Whereas most NYC high-end experiences disappoint relative to expectations, that is not the case with Kreuther. Value for the lunch, given the quality, service and setting was good. The wine list is extensive and interesting and some wines represent fairly good values; however most, price-wise, are in line with other top NYC restaurants.
Best of New York. Stunning setting intimate ambiance. Delicious food with creative settings. For each course. Awesome attentive staff. Two Michelin stars well deserved. Bravo! Janet and John
Great! Food delicious!
The staff are excellent! They work as a tight knit team and each are knowledgeable and passionate about the ingredients selected for the tasting menu.
Highly recommend the wine pairing. The wines offered for the pairing are one of the best I’ve had! And the sommelier is very generous about sharing his knowledge, and did a great job highlighting the characteristics of each wine without inundating us with loads of information.
excellent food and service but a little bit pricy .
This was our second visit to Gabriel Kreuther and we were not disappointed. Great ambiance, impeccable service, and the food is literally from another world. Venison tartare to die for. Wonderful experience from the beginning to the end.
Ridiculously good food and wine. Very expensive.
waiter for water did not reply request for more wine, said main waiter will come but never pass the request.
The second time we have been to Gabriel Kreuther in past year. Each time it is an absolute treat. One of the best meals we have eaten in our lives. Every part of the experience was exquisite. Service, setting, pace and food and wine - all superb. A must for those who seek best in NYC dining. We will be back again!
Memorable on all counts
Be sure to allow for 2.5 hours +. Great selection of wine. Service was excellent. Food was delicious.
One of the best restaurants that we have visited.
This was our second visit to Gabriel Kreuther's restaurant. The first time was amazing and this time was just as good. In addition to spectacular food, the presentation matched the food perfectly. Wait staff were professional, friendly and extremely helpful. From the moment you walk through the door, you are made to feel welcome and special. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have a fabulous dining experience.
Delicius!!! One of the best Restaurant in New York.
This is a two star Michelin star restaurant. The service and food are outstanding.
Food was delicious. However the restaurant indicated that they could accommodate dietary restrictions. There was minimal accommodation. Most of the dishes did not comply and my husband was unable to enjoy them. Also, relatively pushy on ordering wine and champagne.
