Great Tavern at the Williamsburg winery. Fantastic food.
Nice ambience and relaxing environment
We dined outside under the wisteria canopy with another couple. Food was outstanding, and the canopy provided wonderful shade on a warm, sunny day.
We are frequent diners here for lunch and have totally enjoyed every al fresco occasion. However our experience on Oct. 21st was a disappointment. I ordered my favorite BLT on Billy bread. It was most difficult to eat because it kept falling apart due to tge use of mashed avocado vs. the usual sliced and the bacon was slippery because it was undercooked, not the usual wonderful crispy. One of the guests ordered the burger med. rare and it was overcooked. I’m hoping this was a one time drop in quality and that it is not because the Winery is on the market.
We had a lovely outdoor lunch celebrating my FIL’s 88the bday! Our server Malik was wonderful. Highly recommend!
Nice atmosphere. Outdoor dining was terrific. Can't wait to return.
This restaurant is at the Williamsburg Winery, and is a really nice little place. We sat outside, and it was a perfect day for it. The food was great, and the service was great. Ask for Jenna or Malik when you go - they were fantastic!
We always enjoy the food and wine and keep coming back.
The PEI mussels went beyond my expectations & the scallops were heavenly. Our waiter, Malik, was very attentive & brought us everything we asked for promptly. I’ll definitely come back & recommend it to friends.
Our server was new and really was not informed about the menu and the wines. This was our first visit to the Williamsburg Winery and we were excited about giving it a try. Our server knew nothing about the food or wine he was going to serve us. We tried the Merlot and it was good. Our Caesar salad was not fresh at all. My husband got the scallops and was a bit disappointed. I ordered the homemade fettuccini and it was pretty good but VERY garlicky.
We probably will not go back.
Had dinner at the Gabriel Archer while staying at the Inn at Wessex. Outside seating on a beautiful night, a great piece of swordfish and of course, the awesome WW wine to pair with it. Service was fabulous.
WE sat outside under the arbor. It was delightful. There was plenty fo spacing. Our server..whose name I wish I could recall, was excellent. She was enthusiastic and friendly without being fake or forced..a natural. It was my birthday lunch nd my "gift" was generous! You will need a reservation, but do go!
Great food, great service, patio was superb and quiet and, of course, the wine was fantastic!
Our group was a bit disappointed with the Tavern. Sitting on the patio was wonderful but the food needs some attention. The quiche & soup were quite salty. The Caesar salad could have used more greens & the Parmesan "crisp" was thick & chewy--better to have used shaved cheese & less "store-bought" croutons! The shrimp were perfectly done. And some bread would have helped.
We had reservations for 11:45 am and they took us right on at 11:00 am. The entrees were really good. I had crab eggs Benedict and my wife had smoked salmon. Thanks so much for having us!
My husband and I have made the winery and the Gabriel Archer Tavern a priority on our trips to Williamsburg. We love it there. The area is beautiful and the food excellent!
Very nice team and experience, food was good (swordfish) to excellent (scallops), was expecting more adventurous menu but overall extremely satisfied and deserving of high marks.
We had a lovely lunch on the patio. Our friends were so impressed withthe
service and ambience. We will all be back soon!
We had an excellent dining experience . Wait staff was attentive to our every wish. The cuisine was truly outstanding from the starters to the primary entrees. Desserts were delicious . We are already anticipating our next visit.
Delightful outside lunch in beautiful Fall setting.
It was a perfect meal in a lovely setting. We also enjoyed a flight of wine. It was perfect.
The squash soup was outstanding as was the fettuccine. Much better than my last visit 2 years ago. Highly recommended.
Our first visit and it was excellent. Our food server was very good and was able to answer our questions. Food was excellent. Ambience was perfect.
Waiter got the order wrong and soup was cool when it arrived. However, the server had it heated up when we sent it back. Grilled chicken was tender but cool when served. We asked for the butternut squash soup but our waiter brought us the onion bisque. We will not return.
The waitress was very helpful with a lactose free child. The servings were small. My brother had 3 lunches.
Chicken pesto panini was very good. Chicken ceasar salad was delicious, but they forgot the cheese. It was still very good. Service was good, waitress was exceptional! Wine flights were absolutely the best!! Love Williamsburg Winery wines!!
Love the restaurant and the atmosphere. Was surprised at the number of items on the menu that were sold out. What food we did have was delicious!
Sunday Brunch was relaxing, the food was tasty & the server was excellent! We love Sunday brunch at the tavern. We were seated outside & couldn’t have been more comfortable. Our friends enjoyed it too and will definitely want to visit again! Thank you!
Great Birthday Lunch for my son! Service was excellent, we had a couple wine selections and the table had a special "Happy Birthday" sign on it when we arrived. We walked through the shop and bought some wine selections home. We will be back when tours open up- grounds are so beautiful to walk.
Terrific food, service and atmosphere. The food is 5 star!
Always love this restaurant. If only there was a way for outdoor seating year round.
This is a nice quaint spot for date night. I made reservations, but my name wasn’t on the reservation list. That was embarrassing, as I was with an out-of-state guest. We had a nice waitress. The portion size was petite. We were able to experience an aspect of the winery, even though we didn’t get to tour it. It wasn’t crowded, which was nice. It gets super dark at night. My date enjoyed the evening, so it was an overall win for me!
We loved our lunch - food was delicious and wait staff were friendly and efficient. We have come here many times over the years when vacationing in Williamsburg and a trip to the winery and lunch at Gabriel Archer are always a priority. We had the pumpkin spice soup, which both of us enjoyed (wonderful taste and presentation) and I had the Turkey and Brie sandwich, which is probably my favorite sandwich on the menu. In the past we have also tried the daily flatbreads which have always been delicious and creative. Be sure to try a wine flight with your meal!
Great wine selection and great food. This was our first time here for dinner and we will definitely be back.
Great place, great food, and great service. A little on the pricy side, but that's to be expected for a restaurant of this caliber located in the beautiful Williamsburg Winery.
FOOD good, Service GREAT, warm, friendly, efficient...
Ambiance, a bit cold, not a warm and cozy tavern, not a boisterous loud tavern, simply an open room with no curtains, no floor covering so the results were cold and uninviting
This was a contradiction from the vine-covered patio one walked through to enter. Taking into consideration the Covid restrictions (therefore table spaces far apart, I think it'd still be a cold room in "normal" times. They open at 11:30 and at 12 were out of 2 things??
I'm not sure I'd go back. But maybe?
The lunch was really good. The mussels were absolutely outstanding.
The waitress was good as well.
Who would have thought eggplant purée would actually taste delicious? We had a great meal and were pleasantly surprised how reasonable the bottle prices were.
Felt like was back in-Napa Californiavalley wine country
Love this is place. Everyone should come here. One of my destinations when I am in Williamsburg, Va.
We had a very nice lunch here on a beautiful September day. We sat out under the wisteria arbor and enjoyed wine flights as a way to sample the wines, along with soup, salad, and sandwiches. It's a beautiful setting, the food is delicious, and of course the wine alone is worth the trip. Our server was friendly, professional, and informative. We ate out in Williamsburg all week, and this was a highlight.
