Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Great food. Very busy and kinda noisy but good vibe. We had a reservation and were seated right away. My only complaint is the very high cost of the drinks in relation to what you get. I had a white sangria. It was delicious but maybe 6 ounces in a tiny highball glass. $13.50. Ridiculous. Should be double the size in a nice tall glass for that price. Otherwise all was very good.
This was our 4th time here in the last year, as we live in Las Vegas. They seated us early for our reservation, which we were very happy about and while the food is always the absolute best, this time the service fell short. Our server brought out the wrong drink. My boyfriend asked for no salt and got salt. No big deal, we weren't going to die. Then another server was walking by and dropped a cocktail napkin on his way to a table. Our server picked it up and followed the other server to the table and put it down on their table! Ew! Dessert came and we asked for more caramel for the churros (we didn't like the chocolate) and we were served cold caramel instead of hot like the first one. The bill came and we were charged for a drink we didn't order (Seagrams/7). No apology until after the correct bill was brought back. I was also disappointed they didn't have the Tres Leches dessert this time too. Things happen, we get it. The food is always phenomenal that's why we make sure when we come to CA we go here. It was not insane busy like it has been the other three times we were there but the service was really lacking from our waiter.
Gabbi’s is such a great restaurant that I’m now hooked to. Their shrimp tacos are so unique and delicious, I just can’t get enough of them! Drinks are amazing, especially the organic skinny margarita. Great restaurant with a great ambiance. Highly recommend.
Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen is my absolute favorite restaurant in Old Towne Orange. Chef Gabbi Patrick is a master with the deep and soulful flavors found throughout Mexico. And just when I finally decide what I want, the waiter tempts me with beautiful descriptions of the specials. When I want to impress a foodie, this is my go-to. Reservations strongly recommended.
Great place that my boyfriend and I have eaten at twice now; the food is delicious. I would give this 10/10 from my first experience and about 8.5/10 for my second, the only thing being the service wasn’t quite as attentive the second time. Regardless, the food is delicious and it’s a beautiful venue
A friend recommended this restaurant on our trip to California. Wow!!! Mexican is not generally my favourite cuisine, but everything is absolutely amazing! We’ve been twice and have been super impressed each time. The enchiladas and churros are out of this world!
And the house margarita is dangerously delicious. I will be visiting Gabbi’s every time I’m back.
I’ve heard nothing but amazing things from this restaurant. So I finally went in to give it a try and celebrate a friends bday. The restaurant and ambience was nice and fun, perfect amount of noise level. I ordered the shrimp tacos (recommended from the waiter) and the hand made tortillas tasted amazing, but so so cold. The shrimp lacked flavor. The guacamole we ordered was meh, I’ve had better. Their chips were delicious, salsa was bland. I ordered house margarita also recommended by the waiter who said it was the specialty. Big mistake. It taste like something out of a ready mix. My next margarita I made Cadillac, and it saddens me when you go to a Mexican restaurant and they cannot even get the margaritas right. 🤔 I rather go to El Torito over this place again, and I hate El Torito but the margaritas there at least are delicious. Sorry Gabbys.
This was my second dining experience at Gabbi’s in Orange, which was Monday, October 16, 2017 at 6:35 pm. We decided to show our out of town guests what great food Gabbi’s served but the evening started off with a hostess and,I believe, the manager lying to us. This was unacceptable.
A reservation was made two weeks in advance for our party of four. Upon arrival(15 minutes early and Restaurant half empty), we were told our table would be outside. We did not ask for an outdoor table nor were we asked for our preference. We saw three tables situated along the right wall inside that were clearly four-tops. When asked if we could be seated Inside at one of those tables we were given the “run-around”. We were told they were to be saved for parties of five(I suppose they’d put a chair at the end). We asked if they were spoken for, we were again told they were saving them for parties of five and they would not seat us there.
We accepted the outdoor table.
Ten minutes later, I turned around to not only see one table had a party of four seated, but the other tables only had two people at them!
My husband got up and asked the hostess why we couldn’t have been seated at one of those tables and he was clearly lied to. The hostess and the manager gave him some BS story about how “someone else” had seated these tables, and some other Mumbo-jumbo like we were stupid and would believe their lame lies. Really?
We dine out 3-4 times a week and are happy to drive from Newport Beach to wherever(even LA) to get a good meal. We spend a lot of money, tip heavily and are appreciative to the Restaurant help.
We will NEVER return to this restaurant again because of the ignorance and lies given to us by the hostess.
I am in the service industry myself and would never blatantly lie to a customer, especially when representing a sole-proprietorship Restaurant. UNPROFESSIONAL!
DON'T GO HERE ON YOUR LUNCH BTEAK!! The waiter took long to give us our check and drinks and blamed his lack of service on having a large table. I ended up being an hour late back to work because of this and had to stay late to make up my time at work because I'm an hourly employee.
This was our fourth dinner at Gabbi's, and we've ordered something different each time. The prawns in a spicy verde sauce were amazing, as was the skirt steak. Can't get enough of the salsa and the guac. Waitstaff is professional and friendly, and the jalepeno margaritas couldn't be better!
The 3 stars is mostly for the service. For a Tuesday night I was expecting a little more attentiveness. Our server was nice but my goodness did it take long. I also stated in my reservation that it was a birthday dinner & it was not mentioned once. Highly disappointed about that. Will come for the food but not for any special occasions.
