Dinner: Monday - Sunday: 4:00pmg - 11:00pm;
The food was very good and the atmosphere is nice. We had a reservation at 6:15pm and had to sit close to the outside window. There were two empty tables inside and we asked if we could sit there and were told no because those were already requested. We didn't realize you have to request to sit inside. They seemed to not have a care in the world that some of us were freezing. If I go back, it will be a long time from now.
the various Mexican dishes prepared at Gabbi's are truly wonderful. Each dish has distinctive flavors and aromas. A treat to your pallet. However, each time we go we are disappointed by the service. Out waiter was inattentive. When giving him the order, he was not focused and miss took our order. Simple things like getting water is a challenge. When ordering tortillas, they give you 3 tortillas which is ok. We have repeatedly asked fo six tortillas when ordering and they will only give you three initially for two people. When you then ask for more there is a delay in getting them. They need to focus on service and team work among their service staff. We go back for the food but the service experience keeps us from returning more often.
Food is excellent. Interesting, tasty, and fresh dishes. However, the service is painfully slow. I first thought it was a one-time problem with a waiter, but then on subsequent visits, it has been the same. The waitstaff lets you wait at the table for 20 minutes or more before approaching for an order or interaction. The food takes a long time to come out. This time our water glasses smelled like lavender hand cream. It was just all around unpleasant. This used to be one of my favorite places and could be again because of the amazing food and cool ambiance. But the interaction with the humans here is not so fun.
Everything was good except even with a reservation we had to wait 15 minutes.
Mexican food like most of us have never had before. Friendly service and just the best food you’ll find.
Food was better 4 years ago, not worth the drive...
great food, excellent margaritas, small collection of craft beers
Food was delicious as usual but service was slow. Maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed.
Waiter was awesome!! Made some fantastic recommendations. Knew the food well. Service excellent
Great quality food and they accommodated a party of 7..everything was smooth and went well
We had the worst experience here and we would not go back. Based on a unexpected turn of events our party ended up being five instead of four and the hostess was so rude in accommodating us. She basically told us that we had to go to another restaurant to eat although we had reservations for four. She was not accommodating and not nice about it at all.
We had two young girls with us who were going to their first concert and this was supposed to be a fantastic experience for them however when we ordered virgin pomegranate margaritas One of them changed it to a mango flavor. The waiter brought out two pomegranate and when we told him about the change he said well did not hear that and would not switch out our drinks.
I also ordered steak tacos with one flour and one corn tortilla but instead it came with two corn tortillas. We were never offered dessert and our water sat there unfilled for long periods of time. Not sure if this was a bad night or just a bad experience but I highly suggest going somewhere where there is better service. Needless to say we did not have a wonderful experience which is unfortunate since this was our 12 year old girls first concert and night out.
The food at Gabbi’s is exceptional. My favorites are the quest fund IDP appetizer and the shrimp enchiladas.
Hostess was very rude. Ask her if I could switch to another table that was closer to the bar, and she simply turned her back to me and I assume asked the male who was beside her to move us. Food was good and our server was very nice.
This is our anniversary date go to place. Our first date and now ten years later we still look forward to our evening. Thanks.
Amazing! Food quality was incredible! Will definitely be coming back
We have been to Gabbi's a number of times and the food is superior. Service has slipped a bit, less attentive, a bit overwhelmed, but will come back.
Food was great! Service was good! The venue was super cool!
Went for our anniversary. We had reservations but the were able to take us early. Food was amazing, great Pisco Sours! We live the intimacy of this place, and how innovative the food is. We will be back!
Great, imaginative food, as always, with friendly, professional wait staff.
Gabbi's is, without a doubt, the best modern Mexican cuisine in the OC. It's not cheap, but so worth the price. Truly extraordinary!
This place is a treasure in Old Town Orange. Delicious food and great service - what more could you ask for? My wife had the mole and if you like that complex, deeply flavorful dish, you will love their version. While the interior is darkly magical, the noise level is always a bit too high because of the large open space and the brick walls. Nonetheless, one of the best restaurants in Orange County in my opinion.
It's amazing. Mole Coloradito is the best mole dish I've ever had. I was over the top in my recommendation to friends, and Gabbi's lived up to my build-up.
Always an awesome place and amazing food and drinks each time. Love it!
We went for my daughters Birthday. We were seated right away . Our waiter was fun and attentive.
We had chips and guacamole to start. Very good. We all ordered something different so we could
try everything. We were not disappointed.
Gabbi's is an extraordinary Mexican restaurant! We dined with out-of-town friends who said it was the most amazing Mexican food they have ever eaten. Small plates and entrees are uniquely created and, even though it seems a small thing, we all agreed that the salsa was so delicious and different from any we had ever eaten. And the Granadita margarita - Que bueno!
Sorry only a fair experience. Request to split order was not done. Waiter checking on us was meek. Only one water refill. Food was average.
The food was delicious. We fell in love with their habanero salsa and decided to take some home. My wife got a margarita and they are fully loaded. The churros were tasty. Overall everything was great. The waiter was nice and always checked on us.
Really good take on Mexican cuisine. The music, food and service were all incredible.
Always a great meal at Gabbi’s!
Interesting and varied food and cocktail menu. Helpful and attentive wait staff.
Service has always been poor but we thought we would give it another go. Never can get anyone to order additional drinks or fill your water. Food came out cold. Heaters kept going out and had to find someone to relight them over 4 times.
Love the shrimp enchiladas and ranchero are both amazing and order the habanero salsa if you like hot with flavor.
Staff was very good and attentive. The food was very good as well. It made my girlfriend’s birthday a great night.
This is the second time I’ve been there in the last few months. It seems like you’re rushed throughout-the meal— our salads came out the same time as appetizers and then — our entree came out minutes after our salad— they were quick to pick up the plates. The margaritas were too sweet and service just okay— and food a bit rich. I’m not rushing back.
Excellent food and service as usual. Gabbi is remarkably creative and ambitious.
We arrived on time for our 5:30 pm reservation. As our table wasn’t ready for another 10 minutes, In spite of several two-tops open inside the restaurant, the host recommended sitting at the bar as an option for waiting or dining. We told the host we would sit at the bar for our meal. (We received notification later that evening from OpenTable that we were recorded as a “no show” for our reservation.)
Our dining and beverage service from the bartenders was very good. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the special for NYE, ceviche. I had my favorite, Ensalada de Aquacate with chicken. This evening the salad was not satisfactory. Cubes of dry, and tough chicken pieces were offered. A small portion of avocado was offered on the side of the salad.
Gabbi’s is a restaurant we often frequent because the food is consistently delicious. This evening my experience was otherwise.
Juan is FANTASTIC. We were in town from Vegas on NYE, and had an early dinner. All of his suggestions were SPOT on. If you want to feel transported to Mexico City without leaving the U.S., you must run, don't walk, to Gabbi's. This is no "Tex Mex", this is Authentic Mexico on a plate. The mole was sublime, shrimp enchiladas were nearly perfect, and every pork dish we had were likely as good as a Mexican Grandmother's. Love love love. Thank you for making our California trip worthwhile!
I asked for indoor seating and was seated at the closest table to the entrance on a very cold night
