The hostess gave our table away. I only knew because open table awarded me points for the reservation while we were at the bar waiting to be seated and was unable to find my reservation when I came to the front desk to ask about the status of our table.
The food was ok but overpriced. They charge $22 for what is probably box macaroni and cheese with some meat, which is ridiculous. Service was lackluster. I won’t be returning here to eat.
Water glass had lipstick on it, water from carafe tasted like chemicals but overall everything else was good. It’s exactly why I expected from a pub.
G Pub used to be one of my favorite spots, but unfortunately it has gone downhill over the last few years.
The food is still pretty good, but the service is absolutely horrible. I would understand if the place was busy, but on this particular night it was fairly dead and it still took 30-45 minutes, along with many reminders to multiple staff members, to receive a simple round of beers.
Add on the fact that the staff members were rude to us about their lack of effort, it was not a good experience and truly put a damper on our team outing.
Unfortunately, I do not plan on returning to the G Pub any time soon.
I have to give this a poor rating. I made reservations for my family (husband and 2 kids) on Open Table for 6:00 on a Saturday. When we arrived there was a pub crawl going on. We could hear the noise from outside the restaurant. The bouncer told us, "this was not a place for kids tonight." There was no way we could stay. We were all disappointed. But we also had no other reservations on a Saturday night. If Gpub was going to have an event like that, it should have been listed on their website. We never would have tried to go. We were not happy.
overall a great experience and great food, we'll be back soon
Front staff went out of their way to accommodate us as we showed with a bigger party than we had reservations for.
Relaxed pace of service which was fine by us. I’d definitely let them know if you have theater tickets or other plans.
Everyone in our party of twelve left satisfied with clean plates. The universal impression was good but salty.
We had dinner here before a show at Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) and it was amazing! The waitress was so great; recommended a great beer, made sure we would have time to eat before the show and gave us the check early so we could leave on time. The dry rub wings were so so good and the beer was wonderful.
We were sat down promptly and were greeted by our waitress with waters quickly. Our drinks were good and the food flavorful.
Pretty slow service. My meal was good but others in my party really did not like their food. The service was kind of slow and the restaurant seemed under staffed. Overall it was okay but nothing out of this world.
Very nice place. Would definitely go again.
We booked two large tables to celebrate college parents weekend and this place was perfect. Our college kids were happy, and so were the parents. Very good food, very reasonable and our servers were amazing! Super organized and able to accomodate several checks. Only somewhat negative point was that it was pretty loud. It was also Halloween weekend so that may have made it worse. I think we all plan to go back next year!
The food portions are very small for the price. The menu in general is over priced. Very limited menu of wines. Only one chardonnay. Wine portion is tiny as well. This was our second time at the pub. We will try an alternate location the next we visit Providence.
Food was good, but we were sitting awhile before a server came over to the table to take our drink order.
Thanks for letting us Wisconsinites watch game 2 of the NLCS when there was a Bruins game on too!
Chose this for a quick bite before the theater. GPub is a loud, energetic college pub. The interior design is industrial, which tends to amplify and echo the music and surrounding conversations. The wait staff was pleasant, but less than attentive and accommodating. We asked to change our booth for one further away from a noisy party and were told that the remaining booths, though empty, were reserved. I couldn’t understand why they just couldn’t give the next party our booth. The food was average pub fare. Although it wasn’t busy at the time, it took awhile to get our check. We finally asked another server to get our waitress.
The food was excellent. Unfortunately the service was slow. Took awhile to get drinks and then both our appetizer and meals came out at the same time. This is probably more reflective of our waitress though. She also forgot to give our credit card back.
We had a great dinner with our team and customer. Wait staff was very attentive
We arrived for our reservation at 5 and were seated promptly but that was about it it took forever for our drinks to come. The restaurant had maybe 5 other tables the entire time we were there our food took about 30-45 mins we ordered another round of drinks that we ended up canceling because we were attending a concert at 730. We were not pleased with the service we left at 7:10 thankfully the concert was a 10 min walk.
The food was overall solid- typical bar food menu options with interesting variations on burgers/dogs. Great place to watch NFL football on Sundays- all games were on TV and the staff made a point to sit you in view of a specific game if requested. When ordering food; however, the waiting staff did not bring a notepad to take orders, which led to a couple of things being brought out to the table incorrectly. No complaints about the food once it was at our table/ the incorrect order was fixed.
My husband and I went to the G Pub Block Party since a friend of ours was playing in the band that was kicking it off. We decided to stay and eat since the reviews were pretty good and we were glad we did.
The service was excellent and the food was very good. We had the calamari which was fried in a nice light batter and the jalapeno mac & cheese. I thought the mac & cheese was a little too greasy, but my husband was quite happy with it. We split the pulled pork sandwich and fries since we didn't want to over eat after the appetizers and found them very tasty.
Overall a good experience that we will most likely repeat in the near future.
Love coming here for the specialty cocktails and some pretty delicious casual menu items. Their seasonal menu changes as well, so I usually try something different every time I go. Only complaint would be speed of service. Almost every time we go, we end up waiting a long time, but it honestly gives us some time to talk with friends, so I usually don't mind. Wouldn't recommend if you're on a tight schedule.
The food was horrible. Service was very slow and disorganized. Was looking for a place for the football season to watch the games this is certainly off the list for that and anything else. If your going to serve a Cuban make sure that all ingredients are on it and if you can not make a customer a drink because you can’t get to an item don’t charge them for it. Didn’t even want to wait another minute In that place so I just paid for it.
very good place overall, service at both the bar and our table was ok, very spotty and we weren't there at a particularly busy time. I would come here again as the menu was pretty good and it is a nice bar all around.
I liked it. Never been there before. Food was very good and service was excellent. I would go back.
Nice staff. Kinda quiet for a bar on a Friday night. Food choices a bit limited. Tater Tots Poutine with pulled pork was however really excellent. Amusing seasonal cocktails were fun. Valet next door, enter from Dorrance street is free with validation - your valet ticket is texted to you and you click on the link to recover your car. Yes, yes, I'm sure you big city types do that all the time but I still think it's neat.
Not just a pig out spot, although I wouldn't mind if I did, G Pub offers a variety of popular bar food with a elegant update for each plate. Unlike most pub and bar style menus, G Pub keeps things simple offering a few fusion flavors (see the Chicken Dumplings) paired with Buffalo and Barbecue palettes to create a shorter but more well-rounded dining experience. The overall atmosphere was well suited to the hour our party of 4 ate at, and the accommodations were comendable. Definitely a must go when you need a break from chain sports bars and want a bit more upscale feel for a date or business gathering.
It was my first visit to the G Pub and I enjoyed it. I went with several friends. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Our server, Chris, was very friendly and helpful. It helped to make it an enjoyable experience.
We had a quick dinner at the G pub. The room in large and they have tv’s to watch the game, would be a good place during football season to hang out. They had pool tables in the back. I got a salad which was good and my husband got a sandwich. Both were tasty, portions are on the smaller side but we weren’t that hungry so that worked for us. Went to the rooftop for a drink after which was a great spot to drink and people watch! Fills up fast on a Sat evening though
GPub has its own vibe, which I really like. Trivia night (even if you aren't playing) is so fun, and it's also great to enjoy Foosball etc after a meal. However, I was disappointed at the quality and amount of food when we chose the "2 for 1" dinner during "Providence Restaurant Week". Although the hamburger was fine, there seemed a smaller serving of too-salty fries, and the dessert was mediocre, with a thin slice of banana choco cake. Maybe it was an off night for the chef. The servers were FANTASTIC, however; we'll be back!
Took my 6 year old son on an overnight getaway to Providence. I searched for a family friendly establishment with a kids menu. Came across G Pub. After reading the reviews, the menu as well as its location to our hotel (The Dean), I decided to give it a shot and was not disappointed. It’s was not busy at all for 5:30 on a Sunday evening. Service was great. Food was delivered to our table in about 12 minutes. I had the buffalo chicken wrap. It was mouth watering to say the least. The perfect amount of heat in the buffalo sauce. I got the tots as my side. Perfectly cooked with no greasy mess. My son orders the kids cheeseburger. I thought it would be this little slider of a burger, but I was wrong. It was a full size burger! Just a heads up. If your kid is not into veggies on their burger, let your server know because they come with lettuce and tomato on it. Other than that, a perfect experience. Will definitely return the next time we are in Providence.
Service was very slow. We sat for at least a half hour waiting for nachos. After we got them we waited at least 50 minutes for our meal. The food was good. It was a Saturday night but it was not that busy.
In town for WaterFire and decided to try something different. Certainly not a place to go for quiet conversation. I would suggest not taking a high top- they are somewhat cramped and the stools are a little uncomfortable
Awesome food. Great experience. Attentive service. This place gets loud at night so I went in the mid afternoon for appetizers and drinks. Wasn’t too busy nor too noisy.
Great drinks. Great service. Love the late night vibes after we finished eating. Will definitely be back!
The service was terrible. My date and I both ordered the chicken and waffles. The server did not come back to our table for at least 30 minutes and when he did, he told us that they had run out. We then ordered an appetizer and each a Caesar salad - 1 with chicken, 1 with steak. Another 30 minutes passed by before we were informed there was no steak. So it took over an hour and a half to get 2 salads and an appetizer. Meanwhile, our friends had ordered, gotten their food and finished eating all before the server informed us of not having chicken and waffles. The server did not take anything off the bill as a way to apologize. I would highly recommend the staff be informed of exactly what is not available on the menu PRIOR to service. I will not be returning to the G Pub.
Postiives: shuffleboard. Nice bathrooms. Servers are nice as are the food runners.
Negatives: beer is overpriced. Drinks are mediocre. Food is barely passable(tater tots seemed to have been either microwaved or cooked for wwaaaayy too short a time. I don't have high expectations for bar food, but for the price this should be better. There are much better options across the street and around the corner. We won't be back.
Me and my husbands first date night in over a year. We just moved to the area and finally found a babysitter. We really enjoyed dinner and the ambiance.
Loud rock music during lunch hour but host server was friendly
Great food, great service and a cool crowd.
We ate at G Pub right before a show at PPAC. The shredded port poutine tater tots were out of this world. Burger was solid. Nice conclusions. Staff friendly although service was slow to start. Fun, casual and pleasant atmosphere.
