*We do have a sister restaurant, the Rooftop at the Providence G, if you would like to make reservations for the Rooftop, please visit: https://www.opentable.com/rooftop-at-providence-g?covers=2&dateTime=2017-07-20%2019%3A00
I thought the Mac and cheese with shredded pork was good but not much pork in there.
Great sport... menu could use a steak..turn down the music a touch! Service was great.
This is the perfect place to go before a show at the PPAC. The bloody mary's are excellent. That was the best part. Decent nachos but needed more cheese. Service was friendly. My daughter had mac and cheese. Kind of blah. Grilled asparagus very good but small portion. Warm pretzel with cheese was just okay. Comfortable booths and we would go back again.
G Pub is a better bar then restaurant. Food is ok, atmosphere is fun, but loud.
Arrived to find that they were a stop on an 80s themed pub crawl. The staff seemed surprised by this, but were doing their best to serve the people who had reservations, while being completely overwhelmed by a herd of people who looked way too old to be that hammered at 6:00 on a Saturday.
I think GPub did their best, but the place was a complete circus.
Just an overall bad experience. Too many drunk kids, music too loud, service too slow and food bland and cold
It’s a sports bar with high-end bar food. It was a convenient place to grab a bite before the theater.
Great tacos and we started with warm pretzels. Good choices on the menu.
Went there with 2 other couples, all in our early 50's. Clearly, we were older then the mostly college crowd, however it was PC Parents weekend so we were fine. The food was great, mostly bar food but really good. Drinks were cold, service was good and they had foosball! What more do you need?
Nice comfortable place. Staff and people were very friendly.
G Pub is great. Whether its for a quiet lunch, dinner with friends or drinks at the bar. Food is tasty and the beer selection is great!
Bustling bar atmosphere with lively music and televisions plastering the walls. Kid friendly also. Food is very good and good value for money generally. Recommend for a laid-back dinner when you want better than chain restaurants for prices that are only a little bit higher.
Not our kind of place. We didn’t really mind it that much, but it is clearly a college drinking place. We didn’t think the food was much better than a chain restaurant. I didn’t eat dessert - they only had one! And it was chocolate which I just don’t do much of. The pretzels taste best with honey mustard that we asked for. The cheese dip had no real flavor. The service was stellar!
Modern cellar. Food was outstanding!
I've been to GPub a number of times, even on other PPAC event nights. But these guys were totally overwhelmed tonight. We waited an hour and 20 minutes for 2 burgers and a shrimp taco to arrive. Others who arrived after us were served before us. When our waiter stopped by with our appetizer (after 45 minutes) he said our food would be right out. 5 minutes when by. Then 10, then 20. I flagged down another server and she brought us the check. I told her, I'm happy to pay, but we would like our food first. She was stunned. The manager did come over and apologize a couple of times.
But this was a problem of their own doing. They knew it would be a crush before the show at PPAC, but they still took dozens of reservations all at the same time and put themselves in a position where they were bound to get behind and not be able to get back out of the weeds. We got our food and had to eat in < 10 minutes in order to arrive at the show on time. While it's convenient for PPAC I'm not coming back again when I have a show to catch.
We went for a pre-PPAC dinner. Loved that we could request a high-top table, which was available. Initially, when we got there, it was LOUD! The volume did quiet down some as we ate, but it's definitely "vibrant"! The food was good. My wife's salad with butternut squash and other goodies was excellent, albeit heavy on the greens and a tad light on the "other goodies". Not sure if it was really worth $15. Likewise, my burger, which I ordered medium-rare was more like medium-well. Not crisped, but definitely more done than an aficionado would prefer. The toppings and flavor were great, however! All in all, not a bad value for the PPAC neighborhood - we were out the door for under $100, including a full bottle of good wine, so no complaints there. The food was good, but we'll likely explore a bit more the next time we're in the neighborhood.
It was fine - slow service, we had minor requests that were forgotten. Our beers were also forgotten for almost 20 minutes. The server was apologetic which was fine but overall it was kind of overpriced for what it was and for what we got.
Overall the food was good, my husband and I split 3 appetizers and a main course for dinner and it was good portion sizing. The appetizers were delicious, staff was great and the atmosphere lively and enjoyable.
However, I’d watched a Phantom Gourmet episode on the restaurant and was looking forward to trying their chicken and waffles, which the chef described as “nothing you’ve ever tasted before” while they cut to him battering chicken wings, legs and thighs. So I was beyond disappointed when the chicken and waffles came out with four sad pieces of chicken tenders that had no crunch and no flavor. I wanted to cry, where was the delicious fried chicken I was expecting?? The chicken and waffles is nothing special and was my whole reason for choosing this restaurant, I felt like I was baited (by Phantom Gourmet episode) and then there was a massive switch.
I did not get my Open Table Points!
Amazing food! Excellent service provided by young and hip folks who really know the menu and know good food!!!
The hostess gave our table away. I only knew because open table awarded me points for the reservation while we were at the bar waiting to be seated and was unable to find my reservation when I came to the front desk to ask about the status of our table.
The food was ok but overpriced. They charge $22 for what is probably box macaroni and cheese with some meat, which is ridiculous. Service was lackluster. I won’t be returning here to eat.
Water glass had lipstick on it, water from carafe tasted like chemicals but overall everything else was good. It’s exactly why I expected from a pub.
G Pub used to be one of my favorite spots, but unfortunately it has gone downhill over the last few years.
The food is still pretty good, but the service is absolutely horrible. I would understand if the place was busy, but on this particular night it was fairly dead and it still took 30-45 minutes, along with many reminders to multiple staff members, to receive a simple round of beers.
Add on the fact that the staff members were rude to us about their lack of effort, it was not a good experience and truly put a damper on our team outing.
Unfortunately, I do not plan on returning to the G Pub any time soon.
I have to give this a poor rating. I made reservations for my family (husband and 2 kids) on Open Table for 6:00 on a Saturday. When we arrived there was a pub crawl going on. We could hear the noise from outside the restaurant. The bouncer told us, "this was not a place for kids tonight." There was no way we could stay. We were all disappointed. But we also had no other reservations on a Saturday night. If Gpub was going to have an event like that, it should have been listed on their website. We never would have tried to go. We were not happy.
overall a great experience and great food, we'll be back soon
Front staff went out of their way to accommodate us as we showed with a bigger party than we had reservations for.
Relaxed pace of service which was fine by us. I’d definitely let them know if you have theater tickets or other plans.
Everyone in our party of twelve left satisfied with clean plates. The universal impression was good but salty.
We had dinner here before a show at Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) and it was amazing! The waitress was so great; recommended a great beer, made sure we would have time to eat before the show and gave us the check early so we could leave on time. The dry rub wings were so so good and the beer was wonderful.
We were sat down promptly and were greeted by our waitress with waters quickly. Our drinks were good and the food flavorful.
Pretty slow service. My meal was good but others in my party really did not like their food. The service was kind of slow and the restaurant seemed under staffed. Overall it was okay but nothing out of this world.
Very nice place. Would definitely go again.
We booked two large tables to celebrate college parents weekend and this place was perfect. Our college kids were happy, and so were the parents. Very good food, very reasonable and our servers were amazing! Super organized and able to accomodate several checks. Only somewhat negative point was that it was pretty loud. It was also Halloween weekend so that may have made it worse. I think we all plan to go back next year!
The food portions are very small for the price. The menu in general is over priced. Very limited menu of wines. Only one chardonnay. Wine portion is tiny as well. This was our second time at the pub. We will try an alternate location the next we visit Providence.
Food was good, but we were sitting awhile before a server came over to the table to take our drink order.
Thanks for letting us Wisconsinites watch game 2 of the NLCS when there was a Bruins game on too!
Chose this for a quick bite before the theater. GPub is a loud, energetic college pub. The interior design is industrial, which tends to amplify and echo the music and surrounding conversations. The wait staff was pleasant, but less than attentive and accommodating. We asked to change our booth for one further away from a noisy party and were told that the remaining booths, though empty, were reserved. I couldn’t understand why they just couldn’t give the next party our booth. The food was average pub fare. Although it wasn’t busy at the time, it took awhile to get our check. We finally asked another server to get our waitress.
The food was excellent. Unfortunately the service was slow. Took awhile to get drinks and then both our appetizer and meals came out at the same time. This is probably more reflective of our waitress though. She also forgot to give our credit card back.
We had a great dinner with our team and customer. Wait staff was very attentive
We arrived for our reservation at 5 and were seated promptly but that was about it it took forever for our drinks to come. The restaurant had maybe 5 other tables the entire time we were there our food took about 30-45 mins we ordered another round of drinks that we ended up canceling because we were attending a concert at 730. We were not pleased with the service we left at 7:10 thankfully the concert was a 10 min walk.
The food was overall solid- typical bar food menu options with interesting variations on burgers/dogs. Great place to watch NFL football on Sundays- all games were on TV and the staff made a point to sit you in view of a specific game if requested. When ordering food; however, the waiting staff did not bring a notepad to take orders, which led to a couple of things being brought out to the table incorrectly. No complaints about the food once it was at our table/ the incorrect order was fixed.
My husband and I went to the G Pub Block Party since a friend of ours was playing in the band that was kicking it off. We decided to stay and eat since the reviews were pretty good and we were glad we did.
The service was excellent and the food was very good. We had the calamari which was fried in a nice light batter and the jalapeno mac & cheese. I thought the mac & cheese was a little too greasy, but my husband was quite happy with it. We split the pulled pork sandwich and fries since we didn't want to over eat after the appetizers and found them very tasty.
Overall a good experience that we will most likely repeat in the near future.
