G. Michael's Bistro & Bar
Our goal is to provide our guests with consistently superior food, drink, & service. Guests will be served by friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic people committed to ensure that each & every visit to our restaurant is exceptional. We strive to make each guest feel as if they are our singular concern.
This too, is the goal of our kitchen staff - to prepare every dish as if it were the chef's only concern.
Our menu is a pleasing combination of contemporary American cuisine & many low country influences. The daily fish specials are always highly appreciated & sell out regularly.
The wine list consists 25 offerings by the glass & a nice variety of perennial favorites & well respected small producers.
We look forward to seeing you.

G. Michael's is always superb. Our waiter, Tim, was fantastic, as was our meals (grouper and ribeye), drinks + ambiance. Plus it is nestled in German Village, which is a great walk-around neighborhood.
Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time. Our first experience at this restaurant our server Tim was amazing. We will be back and ask for him. Thank you G.Michael's you have been so good to us!
This continues to be a top pick in Columbus. Been going there for 20 years. Tim is an outstanding server
My wife and I have been dining here for over a decade. Never had a bad meal or lousy service. Interesting variety of tastes and dishes.
Absolutely phenomenal from the hostess to servers. Food was amazing. Best shrimp and grits since SNOB in Charleston SC.
Service was awesome and the food was delicious as always . Patio was perfect!
Everything was great. Many is very unique. Broad selection of excellent food. Wait staff was wonderful.
Great experience. Celebrated my birthday and I can’t wait to come back soon.
We celebrated our anniversary here! Food and service were absolutely outstanding!
As always the food, service, and atmosphere were outstanding. G. Michael's has become our place to celebrate our anniversary. We had the pan-seared halibut, pan-seared cauliflower, and crabcake. All were delicious.
Have loved this place for over 15 years. Tim waited on us tonight and as always, he made the night. The best in German Village for patio dining. Be sure to put G Michaels on your "Must Do List"
Food was ok but execution was not at the level of a real fine restaurant.
G. Michael’s never fails to impress! A wonderful meal once again. If you have not yet dined at this establishment, please do not hesitate! It’s our favorite restaurant around town!
Excellent food. Very accommodating for vegans. Super nice staff. Good ambiance.
Food was great...
Wonderful bistro in German Village in Columbus. The menu was interesting. I had the chopped salad with Octopus and the walleyed pike. Both were delicious, the cocktails were well crafted and the wine list was interesting and fairly priced. I would definitely return the next time I came thru Columbus
Quiet evening. Service was good and food was delicious! Especially, the asparagus, spinach and mushroom soup!!
Amazing selection on the menu, including low country cuisine. Everything our group ordered was fabulous
The service and the ambiance was impeccable. Our waiter could not do enough for us. The food was delicious and also wonderfully presented. G Michael is a restaurant we would definitely return to.
We went for an early dinner on Mother's Day evening. The music was strangely loud, and the server did not speak up to accommodate it (my hearing has been tested and is fine. And I'm only medium old). Pet peeve: We had to pour our own wine, but even more inexcusable, the food was just OK. My veal chop was tough, and they left the fat cap/gristle on it, so I had to spit it into my napkin. Gross!
Mother’s Day dining. We frequent the restaurant, always a good experience.
While I love my usual...the shrimp and grits, I ordered the wedge salad with amazing smoky bacon AND fried oysters. So good! And then the lamb sausage with gnocchi in a rich jammy sauce has become my new favorite!
I was not impressed by the service or the food. It took several minutes for anyone to greet us when we came in. Waiter's timing was off for much of the evening. We had the prix fixe menu on a Monday night - I liked the concept, but the steak was tough and the other flavors in the dish were unimpressive. We may go back and try again, but it wasn't the "special occasion" meal we were hoping for.
Love this restaurant
The new spring menu was delicious, we loved the fried skate, the mussels were so delicious too. Our server was fantastic, overall a great night
WE frequent G. Michaels often. Food and service is always good.
Great innovative food, lovely atmosphere, and excellent service.
We will be back. Took the care to ensure attractive sound baffling that allowed us to have an intimate conversation while we enjoyed the outstanding food and wine. We came for an anniversary dinner and we will be back.
G Michael's never disappoints. Service is always the best anywhere, food is always delicious and dining area is warm and inviting. My wife and I always enjoy our visits at G. Michaels, just wish we could dine there more often!
We are regular patrons and try to go at least once each month. The new spring menu was great and, with lots of Spanish and Tuscan red wines on the wine list, the selection is wide.
Excellent Food and Service, always a winner, the Monday Fixed Price Menu was right on target for both of us on the last visit with an outstanding chorizo/hominy app, trout and crab cakes for mains, and excellent desserts.
From Jeff at the front, to our server, Taylor, to the random server that picked up & replaced a napkin that hit the floor, the well trained staff clearly enjoy working at g. Michaels and enrich the experience.
Food = delicious
Formerly, this was among Columbus’s finest restaurants. But on Friday night the noise level was more than intrusive, it was simply impossible to enjoy a conversation among friends without shouting. The food was ok, but not outstanding. In our opinion, we’re sorry to say, the experience fell far short of the value. We remain disappointed and unsure that we will return in the future.
Monday night...everything was so good! The halibut and swordfish were succulent...the asparagus soup was delicious and the pecan pie was homemade...even the coffee was great...flavorful...not like so many bland “water” they call coffee elsewhere...neighborhood gem in Columbus
down home neighborhood eatery with great food & unusual selections - cf. rabbit burgoo
We had an enjoyable Easter dinner. They had just come out with a new menu, so my husband tried the fried oyster salad and I had the walleye. Both were wonderful! Our server, Jamie, was excellent! She remembered our drinks from the last time she waited on us which had been a of couple weeks prior. Nothing but goodness!
Extremely creative food preparation and high quality service
Our party of five was taken care of by David. The evening was superb! David was a clever, friendly, congenial server and helped make the evening fun. He was prompt and attentive but not obtrusive. The food was also superb. My husband and I had the halibut special, our host had the veal chops and mussels, my husband’s mother had the scallops and my sister-in-law had the root vegetable soup and the smelt special. Every one of us loved our food. My sister-in-law from Boston said it was the best meal she’s had in decades! The ambience of the restaurant was lovely. On a Wednesday night it was not crowded and there was interaction and conversation among our table and others in the dining room. Total strangers, connecting in true mid-western hospitable style. Just a lovely, lovely evening enjoyed by all of us.
This is my favorite upscale restaurant in town. I have yet to have a bad meal here. The only complaint I have is sometimes the specials are awesome and I never see them again. Though, this is also why I love G Mike's so much. The menu changes, there is always something new/fun and interesting, and it is truly nothing I could replicate at home.
