G. Michael's Bistro & Bar Ratings and Reviews
We had an absolutely wonderful experience and dinner at G. Michael's! I thoroughly enjoyed all parts of my meal, from the delicious calamari and brussel sprouts we had as appetizers to the delicious chicken deliciousness and the chocolate dessert. Service was spot on and I love the atmosphere of both the bar and the dining room.
First time experience. Enjoyed the small bar for a cocktail prior to meeting friends for dinner. Dinner was enjoyable, but not wow worthy. The brussel sprout appetizer seemed under cooked and the blue cheese didn't really work well together for me anyway. Server was good in my book because he didn't over manage us!
Great Local Restaurant with Louisiana influences. Fixed Price Mondays are a great deal. Professional wait staff. Restaurant offers 4 distinct environments for dining options-bar, central area with lots of light and windows, outdoor patio, and back area with low light and incorporating the kitchen prep area.
I've been enjoying G. Michael's for the last 20 or so years. It's always a great place to go. Food is consistently excellent, service is also excellent and friendly. I wear jeans and a nice shirt typically and feel right at home, while others get dressed up for a fun date night. It's comfortable to do either. Can't say enough compliments about the owner, Jeff, and Darrel, our favorite waiter. Just very nice people serving delicious food. Try it!
The mussels appetizer was good and my duck entre was excellent. We were placed in the front alcove which was drafty and noisy because the door kept banging shut every time someone came in or went out. Our neighboring table was very loud but that is not something the restaurant can do much about. By 9, they run out of some dishes. Overall I have always liked this place but ask to be seated in the inner room
Don’t ever change, G Michael’s. The menu is fantastic. The bar is lively during happy hour. It’s part neighborhood hangout, part 4 star restaurant.
The wait staff is seasoned... in a positive way. The service you receive is great.
Both the Gerber chicken and chili rubbed pork were fabulous. Some of the low southern fixin’s make it unique and very tasty.
If you’ve never been, then correct the mistake. If you have, remember to go back over some of the new and glitzy places that pop up but eventually fade away.
Waiter, who did not give us his name and I failed to ask for, was outstanding. Food was very good/excellent. Wine list was very satisfactory - slightly limited by-the-glass options. Because was Wed. night, side/attached dining room had only a few people in it, so noise level was exceptionally low; would guess would be less quiet, e.g., on a Fri. or Sat.
Went for dinner during restaurant week. Excellent restaurant week menu. Nice variety of options. Regular menu was also excellent. A very nice wine list with many choices at moderate prices. Service was excellent as was the food. This is delightful special occasion restaurant, but should not be saved only for those times. It is consistent and the food is always good. Theme changes with the seasons so there are always new choices. Never been disappointed and look forward to returning.
We went for restaurant week and it was great, there was a very noisy table next to us but when they left the atmosphere was much improved. The drinks were delicious we will be back for happy hour. The staff was very professional and friendly, it was our first visit and we will be back
They ran out of multiple restaurant week items so some of my friends ordered off the regular menu and found that their food was quite terrible. In addition the bread was hard and cold and the pork lacked flavor which the waiter said was the best meal. The mussels were not cleaned enough and had decent grit. The dessert was fantastic though.
