G. Michael's Bistro & Bar
Our goal is to provide our guests with consistently superior food, drink, & service. Guests will be served by friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic people committed to ensure that each & every visit to our restaurant is exceptional. We strive to make each guest feel as if they are our singular concern.
This too, is the goal of our kitchen staff - to prepare every dish as if it were the chef's only concern.
Our menu is a pleasing combination of contemporary American cuisine & many low country influences. The daily fish specials are always highly appreciated & sell out regularly.
The wine list consists 25 offerings by the glass & a nice variety of perennial favorites & well respected small producers.
We look forward to seeing you.
Jeff Benson, Owner/Operator
Shrimp & Grits
country ham, Andouille sausage, stone-ground yellow grits, buttery tomato-scallion broth
Pan Seared Trout
kale, sweet potato, red pepper, cauliflower hash, spicy pear compote, sage butter sauce
black eyed peas, collards, bacon, pickled hot peppers
Great ambience and great service. Small menu with small portions, even for an upscale restaurant. Would go again.
Such good food. The seasonal menu is fantastic. The meals are always delicious ace creative. I especially enjoy all of the fresh vegetables on the plates. The servers are professional abs friendly. By far this is my favorite German Village fine dining establishment.
Food was Amazing !!!!! Every one of us cleared our plate !
I miss the buzz of a non-covid experience. But it’s not something they can help. G Michaels rules.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday with all of our grown children. It was a very special evening and G Michaels was the perfect place to celebrate. Outstanding and unique food, service, and atmosphere!
Good was creative and very satisfying, Stalll and guests observed social distancing and masking protocols,
This was our first time dining at G Michaels. We will definitely be back? Best shrimp and grits ever!!!
Safe and lovely dining experience. New (summer) menu was phenomenal! I highly recommend.
Our appetizers were wonderful (crab cake and Lobster bisque). Dessert was delicious! Main entree was just ok. Due to covid, the environment lacked energy.
G Michael’s is always a consistently well done meal and experience. Food was great, service was great and they were following strict safety protocols. Recommended.
I would have liked it more had they not put us in the backroom. There was no ambiance or character at all in that small room. Just blank walls, tables and chairs, and one glass door out to the patio that you couldn't really look out of. Oh and a curtain to separate you from the kitchen. The other two rooms (the one in the front with the bar and the middle room) looked much nicer to be in and the patio looked nice as well. I don't know why they put us back there (or why they would put anyone back there) because I made reservations a week in advance and the place was fairly empty and quiet when we arrived. I regret not asking to be seated somewhere else or just leaving and going to some other restaurant. I didn't say something because I did want to come off as rude or snobby, but I should have because you shouldn't expect your customers to be content in a boring room like that, especially when you walk them through two much nicer rooms. To me, much of the point of dining out is to be in a nice place, enjoying the pleasant atmosphere and the restaurants character, especially when your paying a lot for the food and drinks. If you planned on spending $100 for dinner for 2 people, you'd want to be enjoying your meal in some place nice, not in a lifeless room. Maybe things were unusual for them because of the pandemic, but they could have put some effort into decorating the room beside the one obscure painting. And still you shouldn't accommodate people in a substandard manner just because your facing some challenges. I expected to enjoy a nice meal in a lovely place but was very disappointed and we went somewhere else for drinks afterwards just to redeem the night. If I ever do go back there I will definitely not settle for being placed in that back room. There shouldn't be one bad table in an upscale restaurant and I don't get how an owner would think that's acceptable or at least not feel embarrassed.
Great ambiance, food and service. I will definitely return.
Great as always!
Always a wonderful meal an G. Michael's. Their Prix-Fixe menu on Monday is the best deal in town (although it did increase in price by $5, which is not noted on their website).
Very nice restaurant and would recommend to all.
G Michael's has been one of our long-time faves in Columbus, though we hadn't been there in a while. It lived up to our prior experiences.... just outstanding service (attentive, knowledgeable servers) and food quality. Octopus, scallops and pasta dishes were all superb.
Support this local gem and you'll be glad you went!
Great food and even better service. The restaurants was clean and had appropriate social distancing and precautions.
Wonderful dinner experience. Good service, great food and nice outdoor dining ambiance.
The swordfish literally melted in my mouth and the lobster-avocado salad garnish set it off perfectly.
Great service from Shelley.
Tim was profession and knowledgeable. Food was out of this world. Swordfish and Pork were cooked perfectly. Experience was amazing.
G. Michael's Bistro is a gem! My husband and I completely enjoyed our experience. The Swordfish was light and flavorful but the Pork Tenderloin was by far the best Pork I have ever tasted. My husband is a steak and potatoes man but he went outside his comfort zone and ordered the Pork. He was blown away by how deliciously tender and juicy it was. Amazing!
Jeff, the owner was so kind and welcoming. The food was amazing. Tim, our waiter, was attentive and funny, and made our evening very enjoyable.
Phenomenal food, wait staff was great, and the ambience in the back room was perfect for a date night
Tim is a great server- just a few items just a tad off/ but very good!
We had a very nice meal, as always. We were fortunate to be able to sit on the patio which is so charming. This is one of our favorite restaurants.
We had a wonderful time! Excellent food, fab service. Great menu. Loved the lobster bisque, halibut, lemon martini and the lemon gingersnap tart.
Not only was it wonderful to be back at G Michaels, but our visit exceeded our expectations! The service was wonderful, the menu was great, and it just felt terrific to be back in the real world with other people at such a fine restaurant.
Excellent food and service. Felt very comfortable with their Covid precautions and was really glad we supported them as they have a greatly reduced number of tables and we want them to weather this storm!
We dine at G Michael’s frequently. Chef Tetzloff does seafood better than anyone! I have had walleye the last two times we have eaten there. EXCELLENT!!
Awesome service and food! It was our first time out for dinner since the Covid-19 quarantining and it was super!
Our server was great, and the food was excellent.
We’ve never had a bad experience at G. Michael’s. The seasonal menu always has interesting flavor combinations, the service is friendly and efficient, and they have great drinks. What’s not to like?
We sat on the patio and had extraordinary food and service!
Great place to eat. Food and service were both excellent. Tim is a wonderful waiter. Highly recommended.
The food was not worth the price ; overcooked steak and cold mashed potatoes
The food is always top notch as well as the service. I was also impressed with their Covid precautions. Gloves, masks, in depth sanitizing. They are doing all the things they are supposed to. Inspires confidence that they are not only looking out for their patrons, but are looking out for the employees as well. Great job!
It was our first time dining at G Michael's. I was hosting some executives from our Cleveland office. Everything was outstanding. Both of them said they next visit to Columbus, be sure to book G Michael's.
Was great per usual! Never had a bad meal there! Recommend the banana pudding!
Fantastic anniversary dinner with great food and service.
It’s starts in the bar and continues thru the meal, excellent service. Drinks are awesome, we’ve never had a bad meal there. Even the valets are cheerful and take care of you.
