G. Foley's Ratings and Reviews
This was absolutely a place we would highly recommend to our friends and family when they visit the Panama City Beach area! Everything from the incredible food to the friendly staff and great service is something to brag about! We will definitely be back next time we are here! Thanks for giving us such a great experience !!
My wife and I walked into G. Foley’s and there was no one to be seen. I had placed a reservation and we arrived exactly on time. After 10 minutes, a server appeared, saw us waiting and seated us. Later a hostess and what seemed liked a manager showed up drinking fountain pops and proceeded to stand around and chit chat. Our server was great, but the food was saturated with salt. We had a great anniversary dinner here a month earlier, but you couldn’t pay me to have lunch here again. No wonder the restaurant was empty.
I have mixed feelings about this place. Parts of my meal, and those of my friends, were really quite wonderful. Others parts were mediocre at best. The pork chop was excellent. The chicken and dumplings got good reviews. The shrimp and grits were and embarrassment. The desire to have a "fresh take" on the dish was an utter failure. The bar was excellent and the table service was outstanding.
It has been a few years since we ate at G. Foley's as our previous visits the food was just ok. This night we were pleasantly surprized with the new menu that included a few specials was outstanding. We also were fortunate as Thursday's is 1/2 price bottle night.
I would suggest come back to G. Foley's and taste their new menu.
Went here for the early-bird special. It was very good. One of us got the salad as the first course, and two of us got the corn soup. The salad was very good and plentiful; the soup had a good flavor but was very thin. We both expected more of a chowder, or at least a few pieces of corn: It was all broth.
For the second course, one of us got the steak and the two others got the salmon. Both dishes were very good, and the entrees were very tasty, but the accompaniments were a little skimpy. Overall, though, the meals were very good. I'm just not sure the early-bird meals are enough food for a hungry man.
Atmosphere was good. Service was great. But first time coming to G Foley's the set dishes were greasy upon our arrival. My wife's fish was very greasy and mine was also
Appetizer was excellent along with service and drinks were very good. A bit pricy overall and first impression was not that great
We dine at firefly and capt anderson a lot even though it is further to drive and firefly wins hands down for both myself and my wife's experience
G Foley's was excellent! The manager Trish is a wonderful asset. She came over to our table several times to make sure we were satisfied with everything. We had a six year old with us and she made him feel important and gave him a 'job' so he remained occupied throughout our meal. I only wish we lived in Panama City so we could become regulars!
Wonderful meal. My husband always gets a steak and I love their shrimp and grits. There have been changes made...all to the better. The DR has been painted and is much brighter. The changes to the menu are good...a new Bibb salad with feta and blackberries and chicken and dumplings which I will try next time. The mango martini is fabulous and the house wines are high quality.
We are locals and have dinned there when it was better. Had reservations that hostess said she couldn't find. Seated us anyway. Restaurant was busy but shouldn't have taken 15 minutes to get a beer and glass of wine. Waited 1 1/2 hours to get food. My steak was quite flavorful but I believe it came from the discount meats across the street at Winn Dixie. Wife's Salmon was to her likening. We had planned to enjoy the evening listening to music with drinks on the patio. Obviously after our experience in the restaurant we deceived to go elsewhere.
The menu is very small , little choices . Quality of the food was okay, nothing spectacular. Service was outstanding worthy of a much better menu. The best thing was the beer to be honest. I am not against paying a higher price for a good dining experience but this place wasn't worth it .
The service was great. The food, not so much. For the price they are asking, I was expecting something much better. Everything was just okay. I was also quite disappointed with dessert. I got the smores cheesecake and felt as if it was leftover from the night before. Overall, was quite underwhelmed with the food for the price. Unsure if we'll go back.
Nice atmosphere and a variety of seating choices, including on the patio with live music. We chose indoors near the window, and enjoyed a happy hour martini to start. The food and drinks were very good, service was a little rudimentary but she made an attempt early to make up for a missed communication on our order. Had the service matched the food and atmosphere, this would be a 5-star review all the way around. We will return. Recommend the seared tuna, and fresh fish offering. Looks like a fun place to have a drink on the patio if you're not up for a full dinner.
A little pricey for what you get. We had an awkward service experience where we were our waitresses only table in the main dining room, so although she was fabulous when we saw her, we had lengthy waits and weren't able to get a meal concern addressed.
This was our first time at this restaurant and I would be a bit cautious about returning. When I pay these prices I expect a superb experience.
