Fusion Sushi Ratings and Reviews
We were seated in a noisy section of the restaurant with sound bouncing off all of the walls. The seats on one side of the table had no backs, which made them uncomfortable. The service was barely acceptable and was punctuated at the end of the evening when a drink we ordered came 20 minutes later as we were paying the bill. We wanted to send it back, but the server said he "didn't have time to discuss it." All of that noted, the food was good. But it wasn't good enough for me to go back again. Hopefully, you'll have a better experience.
What a great place to meet old friends and meet a few new ones! The sushi is super fresh. They have a crab roll to die for. Service was excellent. The salmon an eel were tastie. Octopus was yummy. They have a good selection of premium saki to make the night memoriable. Highly recommended.
Great sushi at a reasonable price. Service was great! my glass was never half empty. It was noisy, good for friends looking for a happy hr atmosphere. Not really a good place for a first time date. Parking is across the street, which helps since its really hard to find a spot in Manhattan.
I made a reservation for 10:30pm. When I arrived promptly at 10:30 to be seated, the hostess told me that the kitchen was closed.
While she questioned if I arrived at the correct location, I showed her my email confirmation, which proved such. I asked why I would be able to book a reservation (via Open Table) if it would be an issue. She apologized and reiterated that the kitchen was closed.
My problem is that neither she nor anyone in management seemed to care about making it right with me as a potential future customer. It just came off like the fact that I burned gas (30 min drive) didn't matter much to anyone there.
I don't mind mistakes provided that a business understands how to handle them.
Would I had been a higher priority if I were a celebrity or perhaps a food critic?
This restaurant was so loud! We made a reservation which they honored, but they sat the 4 of us near the hostess stand and we had to yell to the person next to us just to hear. It was like the restaurant was a dance club, but no dancing. We couldn't even talk to each other over eating so we got up and left and went to another restaurant. I told the waitress we were going to leave because the music was really loud and she wasn't phased at all. I don't mind that there was music, and that this is the type of ambiance in the place, but I don't recommend this place if you're trying to have a decent conversation with someone while you're eating.
food was good, table 2 waitress all she did was take our drink order, someone else helped us throughout the dinner. When the bill came she wanted to make sure we gave her a tip, for what for helping us take the drink order the other waiter deserved the tip.
We've been going to Fusion Sushi for approximately 3 years. It really loud in there but the food keeps us coming back. It's a local gem. This late time we got the Ninja Boat and you really need at least 4 people to finish the boat but it was a fun experience.
It can't make up it's mind. Not recommended for people wanting to converse. The food may have been good, but the evening was hard to enjoy with the extremely loud music beating at our booth.
I came here with a friend I had not seen in ten years who was staying in MB overnight (close to the airport) and was on her way to another destination the next day. I chose this place because it had good reviews on Yelp and had an available reservation on a last minute Saturday night. The ambiance was extremely lively and did not seem to need club music disrupting their time. Again, it was confusing as to whether this place was wanting to be a restaurant or whether they wanted to be club. In defense of the wait staff, they seemed to hear our concerns but had little control over the volume of the music. As they said, "the rest of the week is quiet, but Saturday night has this music." They could barely hear our order and gave us some items we did not order. Considering the noise level there, it was hard to blame them for such a mistake, Sadly, I would not eat here again.
Fusion Sushi was hopping on Friday night! Music was on the louder side, but it fit the mood. There was a buzz in the room over the food and flare. Absolutely loved the flavor explosion of the Marilyn Mon Roll. Great suggestion by our server. Super Crunch and Spicy Crunch rolls were fantastic too. Definitely need to grab more friends and try the Samurai Boat next time I'm in Manhattan Beach.
Wow. The sushi was good. That I have to give Fusion. Although, I met my friend and her bf for a double date, and they literally tried to get you in and out as fast as possible. I think it's pretty obvious between the difference of fast attentive service and being rushed.
That was really unfortunate. We even tried to tell the waitress that we were trying to catch up, but she didn't really care. (And that reflected in her tip)
All in all, great sushi. But don't go if you are trying to have a casual leisurely dinner.
I have been to this restaurant before. This time was so loud that conversation was hard. Our waiter was not attentive, never brought the edamame, we asked for it later in the meal. Salads and rolls were brought at once, did not all fit on the table which servers thought was funny and did not help us. We had to make it fit. We thought it would all come on one big slab like a boat...should have been warned. Will not be back as it was just not fun for us..especially at the cost. It get like a race to get us out of there.
If your objective is cocktails and a party atmosphere with a side of mediocre sushi, this is your place. Service was bad; waiters were chatting next to our table without consideration for us or noticing that we hadn't been served but our friends had. The sashimi was borderline fresh. The seared ahi was rubbery, and our waiter informed us that it was made in advance, not to order. The freshwater eel was served cold, which surprised the waiter. We figured our food sat around while the waiter hung out. Never again. Loud music doesn't mask poor quality and bad service!
Great food, wonderful choices, beautifully displayed and quite yummy. Music was surprising for a sushi restaurant; more fit for a club or Vegas venue. The restaurant was very crowded and the staff offered us seating at the sushi bar (twice) but we preferred a table and they did accoommdate our reservation. The booth provided some insulation from the music. Don't consider this a site for a quite conversation, or even a conversation among more than two people. Also the table hight was very high compared to seating, making it a bit awkward.
When the table that arrived AFTER you is eating before you've had your order taken, you know you're in trouble. When the orders then have to be corrected a couple of times, things have gone from bad to worse. And since the food was fine -- but nothing special -- there's no reason to return.
Had reservations elsewhere, had to cancel those because of a late work night. Fusion Sushi had availability for 5 and this was the better choice. First time experience there and the food was great, service was very attentive, music just a tad on the loud side but overall wonderful experience
Sushi was fresh and well presented, just didn't taste that great. The service was rushed.... with the server bringing the check before we had finished our jmeal or had asked for it. We ordered an appetizer, the short ribs... which were fatty in the bulgogi style and not very tasty. On our bill there were two different tallies for a recommended 18% tip, which was weird. Would've been more enjoyable if we felt we weren't keeping our servers from turning our table.
