*We DO NOT have a children's menu/young children are strongly discouraged. We are a small space ~ limits are in place for larger parties.
Dinner beginning @ 5:30pm - 9:00pm, seasonal days of operation
We're embarrassed to say that the two friends we were meeting didn't show up so we cost the place two seats but food and service were, as usual, swell. Don't hesitate to try the specials (though we for some reason never do.)
Awesome food and a great place to enjoy an evening out!
We’ve been here many times, and we enjoy the food. Sometimes they are willing to accommodate my special diet, and other times, they are not willing to prepare vegetables with marinara - this would be the only negative. Our guests were disappointed the salad did not “come with” the entree.
I've been hearing great things about Funistrada for several years and this was the first time we were able to get a reservation while we were in the area and it was for my husband's birthday. Unfortunately the food was only so-so, especially for the price. The saltimbocca had an extremely sharp flavour and the side of pasta was entirely without flavor. Portions were very generous so we could take home leftovers but we eat a lot of Italian food--in Italy and here in the US but the meal did not have that satisfying quality we associate with Italian cuisine. We shared a turtle pie for dessert on the recommendation of the server because they were out of the panna cotta we had requested and it was large but just sweet upon sweet--and the flavors and textures didn't meld or truly complement each other. Too much graham cracker with no nuance, too much chocolate, mushy pecans when they should have been crunchy, etc. It was not satisfying nor was it worth the price--even when sharing. A real disappointment because it did not live up to its reputation at all.
Best veal saltimbocca in the world. And the chocolate pecan goodness is outstanding. Enough said.
everything we expected. No disappointments.
Great food. Great people. We will be back. Not your typical small town fare. This restaurant would do well in a big city.
Penne with asparagus and chicken had an unpleasant taste. Would not order it again.
Fantastic! Our family was on vacation up north and we drove over an hour for the best meal we had during our vacation! Everything was delicious and great service!
We went to Funistrada to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant is small and intimate and has a romantic feel. The food was fantastic and portions were huge. Our server was phenomenal. She answered all of our questions and provided suggestions when asked. And just to add, she hit the ball out of the park with her suggestions! We plan on coming again when we are on the area.
The food was very flavorful and well prepared. Plating was upscale. We had an excellent server who made good suggestions and they remembered us as repeat diners. Excellent evening and good wine selections as well.
Family friendly and great food. Sarah is awesome.
Dining at Funistrada is a wonderful part of any trip to the region. Exceptional service and always consistently great food.
Wonderful dining experience.
As always, we are treated like old friends from start to finish! Salad fresh and crisp, warm tasty bread, flavorful entrees served piping hot! Hubby had the NY strip special, could not finish it. Cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. I had lemon asparagus pasta with chicken. Delicious! Pasta al dente, fresh asparagus crispy tender and flavorful. Half came home. We split a cannoli, just the right sweet finish.
This is our favorite place to come in the glen lake area. Bustling but cozy, fabulous cuisine, warm friendly staff.
Always an excellent meal. Good wine selection. Veal Saltimbocca is the best!
Excellent as always! The veal chop is amazing; local asparagus appetizer was delicious, too. Love, love, love this place!
My college friend from the University of Kansas and I have been visiting the Glen Lake area annually for 20 years. We’ve made Funistrada part of our routine since its creation and have loved it every time and leave with plans to return. Food is always excellent and we’re able to have a quiet conversation even though tables are close.
As always, wonderful food, service (Patricia was great!) and atmosphere!
Funistrada is always good. This is our favorite restaurant in Lelanau and Traverse City!
This was our first experience with Funistrada, and it will not be our last. The food was delicious, very nice presentation. Our server, Barb, was wonderful.
This is our favorite halfway point for meeting good friends. It's a cozy local gem with rustic elegance and the food never disappoints. This occasion was another memorable experience.
Excellent, always a good time. Wait staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. We’ve never had a bad meal at Funistrada.
We had a great time. The food was excellent, the service was prompt and friendly.
Menu and service was outstanding. We had veal saltimbocca and veal piccata both of which were beyond expectation. I cannot stress enough how excellent the entire evening was. Way over the top.
Wonderful service from the moment we walked in the door. Our waitperson was knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs. We were celebrating our 43rd. Anniversary so we wanted a special night out. The food was fanominal and the wine was so good, we ordered some the next day. If you love High end Italian, you will love this restaurant. Definitely worth the drive and your time. It's a very small venue so make a reservation a few days ahead!
Funistrada is a wonderful asset to Glen Arbor and Leelanau. Consistently good food, great service, and fairly priced. Have been there many times and always look forward to the next visit.
Always a treat! We are very lucky to have Funistrada so close to Glen Arbor and fortunate they are open year round. The food is great and the service excellent.
Birthday dinner for my aunt...best table in the house and great service. We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good. Our table had salmon piccata, veal piccata and baked cod...all delicious. We shared a shrimp scampi appetizer ...very tasty and plenty for three...Shared a piece of chocolate cake
presented to the table while the restaurant guests all joined in singing happy birthday to my aunt...we couldn’t be happier with Funistrada for our special occasion.
Wonderful good and goof service. Love their pasta dishes!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in northern Michigan. It has excellent food at a price that is fair for its high quality and value in a cozy place with great staff. I enjoyed the osco Bucco with a wonderful house salad, bread and side of pasta. The wine list has nice selections at a reasonable price. Save room for dessert.
One of our favorite places when in the area. Love the cozy feel and welcoming staff. The food is consistently good. Recommend the veal chop when available as a special. Other veal dishes are also good choices. Be sure to make a reservation.
We love the ambiance of an elegant yet friendly neighborhood hangout. The food is always well prepared and delicious and the service is friendly and well staffed. We have never been disappointed. While there was a very quiet and well behaved toddler there, it's not a place for young children nor groups larger than six.
Disappointing. I asked specifically for the salmon to be cooked well or all the way through. It wasn’t and they offered another entree with arugula pesto. It had chunks of almost raw chicken in it. My husbands Bistacco special steak was almost raw. Connolli to go was the only redeeming quality.
Love the location, food, wine and the service. Our favorite special restaurant.
Excellent. The menu was versatile with many Italian options. Loved the spicy penne, the house salad and we had excellent service. Only negative was we ordered the shrimp scampi for an appetizer - did not care for it. Shrimp seems rubbery and undercooked. Everything else was a delight.
It always starts with the great staff and tonight disappoint us. The entire staff is a pleasure! Our meals were wonderful and the environment is perfect - cozy and comfortable with great local artwork from Greg Sobran!
Excellent entree and service. However, my husband ordered the cesear salad for a $2 uncharge and it was disappointing for a fine Italian restaurant. My house salad was very good.
One of many visits to Funistrada and have never been disappointed. One of the best restaurants in Leelanau County. We are very fortunate to have such a great restaurant so near and open all year.
Delicious food and outstanding service. Funistrada is just consistently great.
