Fun spot for our 17 year old's birthday! Hannah, our chef, was entertaining while she cooked, and took special care in making our birthday dinner memorable, even writing Happy Birthday on the grill in egg white, and cooking a birthday onion volcano! Delicious menu from the mushroom miso soup, fried rice, and the shrimp and steak combo! Great place for a special occasion!
We have been at the Silverdale Fujiyama many times and always for a birthday. This time it was my daughters 17th. I really was not happy when I left. The waiter was short with us and by the end of the meal rude. The chef knew one of our guest's and was having to much fun chatting with her and got food and cooking liquids all over and almost knocked over my drink! There were veggies flung into the yum yum sauce holders. He didn't portion out the meals correctly so some of us had more than others. To top it all off we were charged an automatic gratuity on our bills. When the waiter was asked about it he gave some excuse of how they don't get the tip that the cooks do and that it's all split so they HAVE to charge it or no ones makes any money? I was there on a budget and because of this charge that I had no say in, I went over my budget to pay for myself and a friend! I have always told friends about this place and how fun it is and how good the food is, now I don't know that I will ever be back!
I love Fujiyama's. Especially chef Thomas! He is amazing! My whole family loves watching him prepare food. What I don't like, is when you leave a tip, and the waitstaff misinforms you. The tips do NOT go to the chef, they go to your waitress/waiter/host. Unless you physically hand the money to your chef, they only get 10% of the tip left! Not cool when they are busting their butts to do a great show. That's why we tip so well... so advice, if you want the TIP to go to the CHEF, ask them to bring him out for you to hand it TO THEM!
We went for date night, we are married but it is nice away from kids. Proteins was good, my husband had the 14oz, samurai steak, but it needed trimming fat was evident. The chicken, salmon, and shrimp appetizer was great. Waitress kept our drinks refilled. Overall we had fun, and ate everything, no to go boxes. Would do reservations with open table again, we got there at reservation time, and had no wait for dinner.
We had a reservation for three. when we sat at the table we were paired with a large group so our third spot was given to that party, without even asking us. It turned out to be alright becuase our thord person did not end up coming, but it would have been nice to have at least been asked, before our reservation was given away.
Great service, great taste, great entertainment. I've eaten at several hibachi grills and this one ranks right up there. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive and the hibachi chef was skilled and entertaining. I loved it, my wife and king do loved it. Definitely recommended for all ages.
Had a wonderful experience at Fujiyama's! Was there to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday and the staff was so sweet! We have a friend with severe food allergies and the staff made sure she was well taken care of- was very impressed! It was my daughter and mine first experience too and we had a ball! Will definitely be back for the next birthday celebration!!
The experience that my wife and I received was outstanding the server and the cook was very attentive and had humor they also catered to the only child that was seated and made her feel special. We have recommended this restaurant to all our family and friends.
The food was good. Restaurant is dated. The stall in the ladies room has the guts of the lock so you can see through it. Zero privacy. The waiter kept asking if we were done and my friend was still chewing and her plate was half full. The most interesting part was the chef cooked the food and there was about 1/4 of the steak,vegetables and rice left over. She placed the leftover food in a to go box. When it came time to pay the bill my friend asked where were the leftovers. The waiter answered that the chef kept it for her lunch? Wow really? On our dime? The food was good but not sure I will consider this a go to "special occasion" spot.
We have had dinner here a couple of times. Great for a group celebrating a birthday. Our Chef did a wonderful job. ~He was friendly and fun. -The food was good. The only issue we had was our waitress, Lyn. She was rushing people to eat and leave. She actually dropped off the check, & to go boxes when the main course had JUST BEEN SERVED. ~The birthday boy had not even received the birthday cake.. guests were shocked at how rude she was. We had to ask many times to have a glass refilled..etc. She was completely stressed and biting remarks at customers. We will go back, but will request a different waitress.
The chicken was overcooked. The use of soy sauce was way overdone. It was extremely loud, between the exhaust hoods running, the other diners talking and the almost constant drumming and singing for someone's birthday celebration we couldn't even hear each other talking. Also, the smoke from the grill kept going into our eyes.
The worst part of the dining experience was feeling rushed to leave after the meal was served. Almost as soon as the chef finished cooking the waiter was coming around with "to go" boxes offering to box up our meals. The waiter also brought the bill and when I wasn't in a hurry to present my card for payment I was rudely asked if I could pay now. We hadn't even finished eating!
Wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We waited 30 minutes to be seated after we arrived on time for our reservation. We were then seated with a party that just walked in. Unusually slow service, a mediocre chef, and lousy table seating made our experience this time at Fujiama less than we had hoped for. It was an unusually bad experience at this usually cool restaurant.
I was dining with friends for my birthday. I was told over the phone that there was a free meal for birthdays, but there needed to be a party of 5. Once we arrived, the server stated the rule was it needed to actually be a party of 6. The manager was asked to come over and speak with us. She never introduced herself, (therefore I don't know this individual's name, but she was a blonde white woman with bad roots), never asked what the problem was so we could explain in our own words, never listened to our concerns, kept interrupting, and never apologized that we were clearly given erroneous information. Stated "I've worked here for 8 years and it's never changed." And said it with a smirk and a snicker. She was most certainly turning her nose up at us. She talked as if her employees were incapable of making mistakes because they had to follow a "script". Ludicrous. The sad part is, even when the 6th person showed up, she still wouldn't allow the free meal because it was rung up separately. Which made no sense because we were all on separate checks anyway. The 6th person ended up paying for my meal herself so I wouldn't have to pay on my birthday. Makes no sense for a manager to treat customers this way. In the end it wasn't even about getting the free meal, it was the way we were treated and talked to with disrespect. I don't know if I'll be back, but one thing I do know is I'll make sure my friends and family know about my experience and just how rude and unprofessional management was during what should have been a happy occasion. The food was good, and the server and chef were very pleasant and delightful (the server was the one who apologized to me, not the manager) and they saved the night from being an absolute sham. In my profession I'm also a manager and my advice to you is to send this manager to an extensive customer service training ASAP. Because she did absolutely everything you're told NOT to do as a manager when dealing with customers.
