Fuji Mountain Japanese Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Went to Fuji Mountain during restaurant week. They offered a great 5-course dinner for 35 dollars. I got a soup, a salad, an appetizer, a entree (sushi+sashimi combo), and a dessert. Great food, awesome service. I had to take some home because it's a lot!!! My only complain is they automatically charged us 20% tips. I mean, the service was great I probably would have given this much for tips but still would like to have a choice.
Waitress was great. Constantly filling water glasses. Had the special of toro. Which was melt in your mouth delicious. We also had the hurricane roll that was just as good. Decor. Was non descript. But it really didn't matter. We asked the waitress. Of an ice cream place and she recommended a great place a block away. Great gelato
This is my wife's and my all-time favorite Japanese restaurant. The food just couldn't be better: the sushi rice is impeccable, done just the way it should be. I always get the sushi regular, and my wife branches out. But consistently, it's the best Japanese food you will find anywhere .
The menu is varied but the food is underwhelming and overpriced. The appetizers were not bad but Chinatown-standard. The kinoko soup was probably the only salvageable. My roll was just OK and my girlfriend complained that a piece in her "premium" sashimi was still frozen.
The restaurant looks dated and could use some dusting. The service was OK but slow given the place was almost empty.
We wanted to try it out for restaurant week but at 3pm they only offered the more expensive dinner menu (despite no notice on the website and dinner time stated at the door starting at 5pm). When I booked using Opentable we did leave a note to clarify our intention of participating in lunch for restaurant week. This was the first ever booking I have made using Opentable (I've used it more than a dozen times) that NO one called us to confirm anything or discuss the notes in the reservation. This is also the empties restaurant I have ever booked as well.
The curb appeal would not have attracted me but this was a great Open Table find. On a pretty busy Saturday night we were still seated within a few minutes (with a reservation). The food was great. Among our group we had Chilean Sea Bass, Shrimp Roll and Noodles with Shrimp. Each was excellent. Service was friendly and reasonably timely. However, I did witness two other diners having to flag down a waitress to ask for their checks. When it was our turn to ask for the check, our waitress forgot to bring it the next time she visited the table. Still, a very minor inconvenience given the superb food. I would recommend and I would visit again.
The bar has been raised for Japanese food over the years. Unfortunately Fuji mt has not followed that trend. Limited sake options, rice was not cooked well, fish was gamey. Better go with friends and enjoy the atmosphere and karaoke. Everything else here sub par
Fuji Mountain was fine, but I definitely feel that there is better sushi in the city for less money or at least for the same cost. None of the rolls stood out to us and for $15+ for specialty rolls, I had hoped to at least really like one. Overall our meal was fine, but I would not run back.
The nigiri fish was dry and unpleasantly fishy. When I mentioned it to our server, her response was trite and nothing was done. So, we didn't eat anymore of our dinner. It was expensive too. Service was included even though we were only 5 (2 adults and 3 children under 10). That's the last time I will go there.
