Had a wonderful dinner here. I would put this place in the very top of my list of excellent restaurants in the Chicagoland area. My first time in Wilmette. Parking was super easy for dinner.
We went to FUEL prior to heading downtown for a late concert. The menu had something for everyone. Three of us shared several small dishes, and it was wonderful and filling. The hungry man that was with us had the crab cakes as an appetizer, and the duck as main course. Both were outstanding. The passionfruit cheesecake was light and delicious. Service was great, and the intimate setting was perfect for conversation.
Always a delicious meal
We loved our evening at Fuel. The food was delicious. We had a variety of dietary needs and their menu accommodated everyone. The BYOB is an added bonus. We had a large group and we were seated in a space that slowed us to have conversations and hear everyone easily. I highly recommend Fuel and will be back soon.
This has been a favorite brunch spot for us for years but now we will be returning for dinners too. The quality and preparation was outstanding. It is BYOB and when we arrived without a bottle, the owner called the wine shop around the corner and had one delivered to us! What great service and a truly delicious meal. I had the NY strip with chimichuri and a delicious avocado and corn salsa, Brussels and crispy fingerlings. My husband had prime rib with mash and asparagus. Really good!
Great little place in Wilmette. Food is fit for foodies!!!! Chef is happy to alter any dish to work around your needs. BYOB allows you save while enjoying a truly great meal. Make sure you book or call for reservations. I am sure this place will start booking up as the word gets around. I would not recommend this place for children.
Delicious food in a humble, home style atmosphere. Don’t let the look of the place fool you into thinking you’re getting anything less than four to five star eating experience. The pork shank was phenomenal. Get it if it’s still on the menu the next time you go. And don’t forget to BYOB.
The food is absolutely amazing. Between the three of us we had a coq a vin, shrimp risotto and roasted duck. This is a hidden treasure in downtown Wilmette for a very delicious dinner. It is BYOB.
The food was good, not amazing. We had 7:30 reservations and were seated immediately. Unfortunately, they were already out of 3 items on the small menu by that time. The space lacks any character or ambiance. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Food is consistently great!
Small, out-of-the-way place with really good food and service.
Valentine’s dinner was great! Intimate and food was delicious - especially the gnocchi.
We had a wonderful Valentines dinner at Fuel. Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding!
The food is always outstanding, creative and delicious. A real gem. BYOB
Overall great. Food is excellent. Easy to hear when your with a lot of people.
An excellent find. Very comfortable and great food.
This is a true "neighborhood gem." Very small space, tucked away by a Metra parking lot and car wash in Wilmette; BYOB. We've visited Fuel for their delicious breakfasts, but this was our first time for dinner. We enjoyed an excellent burrata and tomato salad, very good crab cakes, and excellent bouillabaisse full of mussels, shrimp and fish. The place was pretty empty this Friday evening; the server was very attentive, helpful and friendly. Wish we lived closer because we would come here once a week; but we definitely will visit Fuel again, for breakfast and for dinner.
Excellent food preparation. BYOB is a real plus. Ample parking. Next to Metra.
Love this place
Outstanding dinner! Food & service both excellent. Had roasted pork shank - delicious!
This was our first visit to Fuel, but it certainly will not be our last! The food was outstanding. The level of sophistication in both the menu options and the food preparation far exceeded expectations. The service—however—did not match the quality of the food. We were celebrating friend’s’ anniversary, and had brought two expensive, “special occasion” bottles of wine. After finishing the first bottle, we asked our waitress for fresh glasses for the second (different vintage) for the second bottle. That request was ignored. After a little while, we then asked the owner. He said he would rinse out our existing glasses. They were brought back to the table very wet on both the inside and the outside. So, we dried them with our napkins. We remained mystified by that rather rude decision, as there were only 2 other tables occupied in the restaurant. They were most certainly not out of wine glasses.
Don't sit across from the bar...used dishes sit there too long and you'll be staring at them too long - not a pretty sight. Ask for the desserts to be described so you aren't surprised! We had an ice cream brownie...brownie seemed to be brownie crumbs with lots of ice cream and whipped cream; would have liked a real brownie with the ice cream!
Overall GREAT! Don't miss FUEL!
Food was flavorless and over salted. Staff was unfriendly.
The food is always absolutely delicious... and beautiful. It’s cozy and comfortable. They are attentive and do everything to make the experience pleasant. And it was.
Outstanding food. Would go back in a heartbeat. BYOB made it incredibly affordable.
BYOB great tasting food well prepared. Comfortable neighborhood spot. Easy parking. They were busy w/ 1 wait staff person so service was a bit slow. But if you’re not in a rush it’s great!
Little neighborhood gem. Creative fare and October's BYOB makes it a wonderful find.
Excellent food, friendly service
Food was outstanding and creative. Owner spent time sharing with us the restaurant's farm to table concept and made sure he was aware of any and all dietary restrictions and preferences. A cozy place and a suburban gem. Definitely recommend!!
Fuel is a terrific local breakfast/lunch spot conveniently located near the Wilmette train depot. But wow! Weekend dinners are special. Chef Armando Equivel really gets to let his creative juices flow for the Th-Sat evening meal, and the results are better, we think, than many of the finest restaurants in the Loop. He is a genius with fish, especially, but we have never had anything—steak, duck, lamb—that was less than spectacular. As of now the place is rarely crowded at dinner time, so we love it for a quiet dinner for two, but in our opinion, it should be impossible to get a table here. It’s that good. This is a rare time when I would say, please come to my favorite local restaurant! But I really want others to appreciate this hidden gem.
Hidden gem for really fresh food. Every meal is a nice surprise.
Fuel is the best-kept secret on the North Shore. The chef is a genius. I mean it, genius. The food is so good you would think you were in one of the finest restaurants in the city eating a $300 meal. And yet it’s just a cozy neighborhood place, so ... easy and comfortable to walk over in jeans, or call a friend up last minute. Amazing breakfast, too. Amazing. We love this place.
Fuel is one of the restaurant GEM's in Wilmette and the North Shore! The delicious and healthy choices make this eatery's menu special for its patrons.
The food was wonderful, both in taste and presentation, and the service was outstanding. The only thing that kept this review from getting my highest rating was the noise level inside. With lots of hard surfaces, and the open kitchen, there was a lot of noise. I would go back.
Appetizers and entrees delicious, especially the halibut. Perfectly cooked, very fresh. Same with vegetables, salad, all in season. Nice wines. Only hiccup: dessert. At height of peach/ berry season, only fruit dessert was a not-quite in-season-yet apple tart that was overwhelmed by caramel. No matter, we just won’t order dessert there again. Everything else was delicious.
Everything was just perfect! It was a quiet Saturday nite so we had extra special attention.
I was hoping to get something special at Fuel but it was not to be. The food is good but not great. The value is lacking as the entrees come with nothing but water and bread. I loved the bread by the way. The server was a little laid back and casual for $25 an entrée for risotto and enchiladas.
Great selection of entrees with a specials list. The wine was very good and the seating outside was great. Service was very attentive. It was my first time eating there it was a fantastic little gem!
6/30/18 birthday with friends. First time for dinner. It was delicious, elegant and enjoyable!
