Our family loves Fuel, we’ve been fans for years! We go for special occasions or date night. The menu is sophisticated and changes based on what’s seasonal. Fuel stands out, one of North Shores best.
A great gem in Wilmette! Excellent, fresh food, and attentive service.
Yummy dinner!!!!! I had fish and hubby had pork. Each had beet salad. Everything SO GOOD. BYOB Works fir us, so we drink exactly what we like. We’ll be back soon.
Food was excellent. I do not always think of this place for dinner but the experience was top notch. Will continue to enjoy the amazing brunch foods, but will certainly keep Fuel in mind next time I am booking a dinner out.
I had the chicken saltimbocca and it was fabulous.
This is definitely a case of "appearances can be deceiving". Fuel is a tiny restaurant situated right next door to a detail carwash business. It's on a quiet little cul-de-sac (Washington Court) just east of the Wilmette Metra station parking lot.
This is a no-fuss, laid back place, but the food is impressive.
We ate outside, on the front sidewalk because of Covid-19. Looking at the dining room from the outside, it appeared to be rather plain - it does not appear to do justice to the very talented chef. The burrata appetizer was lovely & delicious. The beef bourguignon and the salmon entrees were well-presented, generous and delicious! The warm bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was also very tasty. Service was personable & attentive. We were there at 5pm on a Friday night, but by 6:15pm most of the outside tables were taken and quite a few cars had pulled up for sidewalk pickup dinners. I would certainly recommend it. We will definitely be back to try more of their dishes! Also great: BYOB!
Nice place with nice people. Small but varied menu. Food was outstanding and service was ok. We sat outside and it rained most of the evening.
Love the simplicity of this place! BYOB with great local wine shops. This is going to be a place I dine at regularly!
It's a perfect neighborhood restaurant. Great, fresh ingredients. Very friendly staff and service. Excellent, reliable food. Perfect for an impromptu date night or just a night out for great food and service.
Outdoor dining on a very pleasant evening. We both had the top sirloin, very well prepared with a red wine reduction; delicious!
The food was fantastic.
Had dinner outside. Great service and excellent food. Everything was really good
Always the best prepared and presented choices. Every dish is reminiscent of a much more expensive restaurant. I ordered the steak which was perfectly cooked with thinly sliced Brussels sprouts (I still don’t know how they did that!). My wife’s favorite are the short ribs which melt in the mouth. Our appetizer was a burrata cheese with perfect toast points sitting on small tomatoes drenched in balsamic. Outstanding.
Tim and the crew are friendly and always attentive.
Please note though that this is BYOB, so pick up a nice Pinot before you go!
This was our Valentine dinner. The food was delicious 👌👌, the service great and the value really good. We eat here frequently and love the specials.
I had passed this restaurant several times on bike rides, but decided to give it a try after reading positive reviews on Open Table. The décor is a bit sparse and tables were a little small for my tall teen children. Our waitress was absolutely lovely, helpful, funny and perfect level of attentiveness. Overall our food was excellent. I have been a vegetarian for over 40 years and rarely find a pasta dish that is new, but the butternut squash ravioli appetizer was fantastic. I am embarrassed to say, my family did not get any! I ate it all. All of us enjoyed our main courses and will definitely be back. It is BYO and my husband was in the mood for beer rather than wine. He was surprised by the corkage fee for his beer, but that was the only down note of our overall excellent dining experience.
Fuel is a unique and quiet spot for dining in Wilmette!!!!
Fuel is conveniently located in downtown Wilmette with ample adjacent free parking. The atmosphere is plain, and it is BYO. The limited menu is well-prepared and reasonably varied.
Clearly the front of house staff was overwhelmed when we arrived at our reservation time. Every seat was full, and food was coming out faster than the front of house folks could deliver it, much less take checks and clean tables. So we were a bit worried. But the rush cleared out about 10 minutes past our reservation time, and then everything was great. We were waited on right away, brought set ups for our wine, and the food arrived promptly. We got the short ribs, and they were perfect -- the meat was tender and seasoned beautifully, the mashed potatoes creamy and flavorful, and the celery, carrots, and micro greens just the right touch. I wish we had had enough room to try dessert, but we were completely full. I will definitely go back next time I am in the area.
Very underrated for dinner. Fuel has some of the best cuisine out there for evening dining. BYOB. Family friendly too!
One of the best dinners I've had in a long time. I can't wait to go back and try their breakfast - if its as good as their dinner; what a treat that will be.
Fuel is a delightful go-to for our family that more people should really know about and frequent. The chef is always outstanding no matter what comes to the table and the wait staff are sincere, energetic and great at what they do. As usual our Thursday night dinner for four was terrific.
Fuel is a wonderful neighborhood dining experience in the heart of downtown Wilmette!!!! If you live in Wilmette, Fuel is an eating experience you have to enjoy!!!
I came here for dinner with two other people. The food is delicious and the ambience with jazz playing on the stereo was very relaxing. I will happily come again.
I would recommend Fuel for great food/presentation and a cozy spot to spend an unrushed dinner. The ingredients are from organic farms. Service is personal and great. A great spot on the Northshore.
Wonderful, meal,at this BYOB dinner. My tenderloin was fabulous. The burst ya was delicious and our friend loved their pumpkin ravioli. Highly recommend for dinner.
The owner stopped by numerous times to see if all was satisfactory ! Excellent food!
I had Mushroom soup which was very good. My friend had the sea bass which she said was both tasteless and fishy. My chicken was very tasty. I guess it is hit and miss. I tried to get my friend to say something about her $35 Sea bass she was not enjoying, but she refused. I’m sure they would have done something for her had she said something. Over all I thought it was good but a bit pricey for what you get.
The menu contains many unique and innovative dishes, all of which were prepared and presented beautifully. But the quality goes way beyond choices and appearance. The food quality was outstanding, the sauces were amazing and the sides were exquisite. The restaurant is small but the care given to the preparation of each dish by the chef is obvious. Try the tagliatelle with shrimp and pork belly (yes that's "shrimp and pork belly"), the duck, the sea bass or any of the vegetarian dishes. Accompany with a Caesar salad containing warm and cold ingredients you wouldn't expect in a Caesar salad - totally unique and delicious. Service was outstanding as well.
We were greeted at the door, promptly by the owner. He asked if this was the first time we were dining at Fuel.
We ordered a Caesar salad. We eat Caesar salads almost every time that we dine out. ( half dozen times per month). The salad was extremely spicy. Caesar salads should not be spicy.
We pointed this out to the owner and were told that jalapeño peppers are very “ hot” this time of the year. Caesar salads do not have jalapeños. No mention of jalapeños by the waitress when we ordered ( remember this, and read on).
So, during the meal, something was burnt in the kitchen and the dining area filled up with some smoke. It was bothering our eyes, as well as the eyes of the family dining at the table next to us. We all moved to tables outside.
The other family orders a Caesar salad.
The waitress explains to the family, “ the Caesar is a tad spicy , due to fact that it has jalapeños in it and it’s a extra spicy time of the year for jalapeños.
Apparently, our comment to the owner, was relayed to the waitress , after our complaint.
We were surprised and disappointed that my wife wasn’t offered another salad without the jalapeños.
Not very “ diner friendly .”
The other items we ordered were very well prepared and very tasty. We thought that prices were a tad high.
We each had a salad. One appetizer and the Vegie meatballs and a chicken dish. The bill was $108 with tip.
Would we try them again? Probably.
Just make sure you ask a lot of questions about what you order. Might get a flavor surprise !!
Good food pleasant ambiance. We ate outside had everything was excellent.
Wonderful spot. Will go back for sure. Nice setting (outside especially) and great food. Just remember the byob
Always delicious food and great service. It is a small space and the owner is there greeting and checking on it all.
Nice experience. Ahi tuna was too thin and in parts over cooked. Pork chop not flavor ful enough.
Best restaurant on north shore. Armando the chef is outstanding. Most creative dinners around, using fresh ingredients in most interesting ways. Breakfasts also outstanding. A must try!
Had a wonderful dinner here. I would put this place in the very top of my list of excellent restaurants in the Chicagoland area. My first time in Wilmette. Parking was super easy for dinner.
We went to FUEL prior to heading downtown for a late concert. The menu had something for everyone. Three of us shared several small dishes, and it was wonderful and filling. The hungry man that was with us had the crab cakes as an appetizer, and the duck as main course. Both were outstanding. The passionfruit cheesecake was light and delicious. Service was great, and the intimate setting was perfect for conversation.
Always a delicious meal
We loved our evening at Fuel. The food was delicious. We had a variety of dietary needs and their menu accommodated everyone. The BYOB is an added bonus. We had a large group and we were seated in a space that slowed us to have conversations and hear everyone easily. I highly recommend Fuel and will be back soon.
This has been a favorite brunch spot for us for years but now we will be returning for dinners too. The quality and preparation was outstanding. It is BYOB and when we arrived without a bottle, the owner called the wine shop around the corner and had one delivered to us! What great service and a truly delicious meal. I had the NY strip with chimichuri and a delicious avocado and corn salsa, Brussels and crispy fingerlings. My husband had prime rib with mash and asparagus. Really good!
