Enjoyed a fabulous Valentine's Day dinner. Fuel is a constant satisfaction! You can't go wrong. We had the Lamb and Salmon and it was to die for!!!!
Second time eating here---food as good as it was the first time. I cook a lot myself, so my standards are high, and Fuel meets or exceeds them. Attention to details, such as the bread they serve and the waitstaff's wine knowledge add to the experience. Highly recommended!
Found out they are rolling out a new menu next week so are looking forward to checking out some new things.
I have been a long time patron of Fuel, and the experience there was nothing short of perfect! Our server, Autumn, is always cheerful and attentive to what is going on at the table and to making sure everything is delivered timely. Every part of the meal was cooked and presented perfectly! Steak was cooked to order, fondue was hot, bacon dusted fries were amazing, and dessert rounded out the evening with perfection.
I came on a Tuesday night for dinner with my son and a friend of his. We started with the escargot to start and it was excellent. The presentation was interesting in that the escargot were served over a bone with marrow and a velvety smooth demi-glace. It was amazing and the portion was very generous. The three of shared it and were quite happy with what we had. I had a caeser salad with anchovies that was very good, well dressed but not overly dressed.
My son and his friend had steaks that were cooked perfectly to the temperatures that they requested. I had the salmon that was grilled and cooked to a perfect medium and very moist.
I will definitely be back soon.
Fuel is a great place for a dinner, a drink oh and great deserts too!
Get the escargot with bone marrow.
Our server, Paul, was a great guy. Very knowledgable and very well-versed in the in's and out's of the menu. Could describe each dish as if he were the one who designed them.
I highly recommend anyone looking for melt in your mouth steak to order the au poivre. It's what I get every time because in four years, it's remains as delicious as the firs time I tried it! The fondue is addictive, I only wish they served it with the bread that they serve as a free appetizer, it would add some nice depth to the flavor experience-so maybe just save a piece to try for yourself! My husband always tries something new there when we go, and he is never disappointed. I had a bite of his scallops the other night-wow. I don't even like scallops typically but these were a pleasant surprise, especially with the sweet potato apple sauce paired with them. So yeah, I like the place. Worth the slight splurge!!!
The food was very good, but the noise level was so high that it was hard to carry on a conversation with our friends. I would have to qualify a recommendation with that information.
Food is delicious every time! The appetizers are amazing. The menu is always changing but the favorites stay! Drinks are fantastic! Lastly, always have dessert!
Caesar salad, roasted beet and apple hors d'oeuvres, braised pork shank, and steak au poivre all seriously delicious. Steak cooked exactly to order. Pork a bit stringy. Large portions. We were too full for dessert. Deep wine list; good beer on draft. Saturday night in December perhaps not best time to go. Crowded and NOISY. Tuesday/Wednesday sounds good both for fewer customers and bargain Happiness menu. We will recommend Fuel to friends and expect to return ourselves.
Great service with lots of personality from Ms. Heather . Steak, pork shank, foie gras spectial on Friday night was spectacular, pork belly was out of this world house wine by the carafe was more than serviceable. Love that there is plenty of space in the room giving you a sense of some privacy amongst others. Prices were very reasonable for the quantity and quality of food presented. Go hungry and enjoy a couple of shared appetizers along with expertly prepared mains. We never do dessert but I'm guessing by the rest of the food it is pretty phenomenal.
We were quite satisfied with our dining experience. Everything was delicious. One in our party ordered scallops and there was not enough accompanying them. The scallops were good but there was not enough to eat. Everyone else liked their meal and had plenty to eat.
Atmosphere and service were nice. I had the filet and though it was good, I wouldn't say it was GREAT. Dessert was delicious.
I can't help but love Fuel. This was my first time dining at the semi private table in the back, and it was great. We came in with a party of 6, and had a wonderful evening. The service was excellent, the drinks were tasty, and the food was amazing, as always.
The escargot was fantastic and the beat and apple salad was very good. Three of us had steaks and all were prepared to the perfect doneness. The pot de creme is a must have it was really good and big enough to share.
We were promptly seated upon arrival. Our server was attentive and engaging. My husband enjoyed the French Onion Soup - beautifully broiled and the steak frites. I had the maple and dill glazed salmon - delicious. The wine list is impressive.
We totally enjoyed our experience at this bistro and will seek it out when we're in Lewiston again.
Had a lovely time. The food was amazing and the service was the Best!
Most people in party extremely pleased. Foie gras tart excellent. Salmon "perfect". Sole stuffed with lobster somewhat overcooked -- but sauce was excellent. Fingerlings with truffle oil -- yum! Pot de creme serving was supersized-- and closer to a mousse than traditional--perfect to share.
I have been a long time patron of Fuel, but it is slowly slipping through the cracks on quality and service. All the food was barely warm, we received an incorrect appetizer and the waiter was sub-par for Friday night peak hours service. Over the last 2 years, the food has become bland and more like the offerings at a chain style restaurant. I honestly do not remember the last time I left Fuel thinking I had a fantastic meal...
Drinks - Was not making bloody Mary's that night! Had a margerita - it was the worse I had ever had in my life & did not use proper glass! As for food - Steak not cooked the way I asked , the mashed potatoes was cold, the bread was cold- should have been warm , the dessert was nothing to write home about ! Also, ordered a mixed green salad & I got a salad with all curly head lettuce! Was very disappointed in all!
Great little spot; very upscale and unexpected in Lewiston ME! Food was marvelous -- pork shank was special; trout special was also excellent. Nice little spot . . .
Excellent food, outstanding service and one of the best wine by the glass list I have ever seen.
The food was delicious and waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. It was a wonderful place to celebrate our Anniversary
Portions smaller than in past. Noisy. Food only adequate. Expensive. Drinks expensive and weak.
The decor was a good attempt at a high class restaurant, but missed the mark a bit. There were 4 different styles of lighting that we saw, each one a completely different style making it appear that the designer could not decide on a specific style. But it was clean, nicely laid out, and had the potential to have a nice vibe. The service was impeccable - friendly and attentive. The food was decent, however for the price I certainly expected to be wowed. I had the special of the evening which was a small piece of fish served over beans with a dollop of pesto on top. The pesto was made with parsley instead of basil. I am very open to food experimentation, but the parsley just did not work at all. It was fair, but nothing that I would rave about. We were a party of 4, and while everyone said their food was ok, not one person felt it had the wow factor. So I can't say it was bad, because it was decent - however I can't say that, for $30 a plate, that it gave me a reason to return. I really wanted to love it....
Very impressed by Fuel. Lewiston doesn't have tons of great dining options, but Fuel certainly shines. The fondue appetizer was a fun throwback, while my pork shank entrée was spectacular. Eager to go back the next time I'm in town.
Thanks to the staff at Fuel, I have a new favorite cocktail recipe to make at home. I absolutely love their Founding Fathers Old Fashioned. We both thoroughly enjoyed our entrees, cocktails and appetizers; and the service was terrific...not a tiny smidge negative to be said.
My duck was perfect and the app of pan-seared scallops over roasted corn is in a dead heat for the best scallop dish I've had anywhere.
Wife and I finally got an evening away and The staff at Fuel made it a great and special night for us!!!
As always, great atmosphere, service is a great asset and finally food gives one a wonderful dining experience!
When we get the chance to go out in LA, its Fuel 9 times out of 10. The atmosphere is laid back and the food is phenomenal. Lots of locally sourced ingredients, and the menu features lots of gluten free offerings. Always a great selection of wine, and beer on tap.
Traditional Southern France dishes....Flavorful, Beautifully presented and Plentiful as well!
This was a Double Anniversary celebration for my husband and me and our out-of-state family visitors so we knew we wanted to choose a special restaurant but not have to drive too far and Fuel did not disappoint! Rave reviews for the Coq au vin, soupe a l'oignon, spinach salad and the pork chop special w/ apples & chutney.
Try and save room for dessert...Yummy!
Fuel was a great birthday date night for my boyfriend. It was very classy without a stuck up feel. Plenty of parking out front on the street.
We typically go to the Old Port for Saturday night dinners. Wanted something different and really enjoyed Fuel. We'd been here a year or so ago And enjoyed it then as well.
Last night or hostess was very accommodating, our waiter timely and our meals delicious. I had a fantastic Caesar salad and the pork shank both were generous portions & very well prepared.
My husband enjoyed the roasted tomato soup and mushroom pasta.
We will definitely be back again.
Great food, great service and great coctails. Overall a fantastic dining experience.
We have been going to Fuel since it opened. The bar menu has improved, the restaurant menu not so much. It is still really good food but not showing the imagination that made it soooo good. There is also some inconsistency in food preparation.
We live locally and schedules being what they are, we were in a bind on something special to do for our anniversary when it occurred to me that we didn't need to travel to Portland or Boston to have an excellent dinner for our celebration. Fuel is simply well done all around. They don't try to bead and feather things - the food is well prepared with little fuss, which I love. I have never had a bad choice at Fuel. The menu is consistently excellent, prepared with care and talent.
The evening was made even more special by the attention the staff made to our special night. I had made reservations through Open Table so I noted we were coming for our anniversary and if possible, could we have a quieter table. The table we isolated but still part of the restaurant - there was privacy curtain that the waitress offered to close but no need. From the moment we stepped inside, everyone was gracious, congratulating us on our anniversary and making sure our needs were taken care of. I can't think of a better experiences - they were there when you needed something but not hovering and smothering.
I will definitely plan our next occasion there and get there for just the general "we feel like going out" evenings as well.
Went to Fuel to celebrate an anniversary. Our two cocktails were well crafted. The cheese plank was well presented though rather skimpy on cheese for $12.00. My wife enjoyed her lamb dish. On the other hand, after thoroughly discussing how I wanted my filet mignon cooked, it was over-cooked (all brown) instead of pink and juicy inside. There were only 2 couples other than us, so the cook was certainly not rushed by a crowd. Our waitress agreed with me and a new steak was correctly prepared and served. This was particularly odd considering the fact that another reviewer had a similar experience which I'd emphasized to the waitress at the time of ordering my steak. Although I was not charged for my entree, the occasion was less than what we'd expected ... considering other reviews and the personal testaments of friends. We had dessert elsewhere.
We started with the fois gras app which was pan seared and perfectly cooked. I had the Tuna special for the night cooked perfectly and a very generous portion. My son had the salmon and he said it was very good. We will be back again soon.
