The french toast wasn't anything to brag about. Nicely presented, but was not really flavorful. I have been to the restaurant before and ordered a burger, and that was really good. The view is incredible and the jazz band on Sunday was a nice touch. It was the service though that was outstanding. My server was warm and attentive. She responded to each request that was made and was always smiling. She made the visit really nice.
Celebrated my sister's birthday here with the family and had a great time! Service was exceptional on the day we went (3/4/2018). The unlimited mimosas kept coming and even when the taco bar ran out of salmon, our server had the kitchen prepare a few salmon tacos just for us!
The staff was very friendly, the food was great, the seating was very comfortable, the view was incredible, and the drinks were tasty. The downside was not enough staff, so there will be extended stints between our receiving service. A couple of times we had to go get the attendant so we could make a request. This is not an ideal situation when attempting to dine there during lunch as there is not much time to spare .
The food and service were GREAT but the view is what made it AMAZING
It was very busy! The service to get our order entered was VERY slow.
I was charged a full price for the third guest and was expecting to get the coupon price(coupon was brunch for two).
At the end we got a very NICE desert plate since the desert bar was already empty.
Nice view! We strolled to the Queen Mary and back.
You can't help but feel like you are on vacation. The live music makes the meal experience extraordinary
I've been to Fuego on many different ocassions and have spent hundreds of dollars there. So, for my 50th birthday dinner, I knew that I wanted to go there to celebrate with 6 other people, including a visitor from Haiti. I made reservations for after church at 2:15.
Open Table nor Fuego Websites show that you only serve drinks and bar food between 2 and 5. After brunch is no longer served, most restaurants allow patrons to order from a regular menu, but you don't. My GPS said that you were closed at 2. So, I had to call ON OUR WAY THERE from Los Angeles to learn about the bar food between services. Do you know how hard it is to find a decent restaurant for 7 people on a Sunday immediately after 2:00 AND with a couple of kids who were hungry?
So, it was all bad.
Thank you for asking,
It was awf
Comfortable patio dining with great views of the Long Beach waterfront/ Queen Mary area. Really enjoyed the Sunday Brunch, the entree selections were good and liked the buffet options. Great live band provided the music.
Our night was filled with terrible service. I made a reservation weeks ahead for 9, when we arrived they were unprepared. It took them 20 minutes to seat us and then finally we were sat at a table a foot from the entrance and a foot away from where the servers ran up and down steps putting dirty dishes away. Every single time stomping up and down the stairs, I could hardly hear the person next to me. It took about 35 minutes for a server to greet us and take our drink order. We requested another table at this time too, which our server walked away and we did not see him again for another 35 minutes until he dropped off our drinks and left. At this time we had been there for about an hour and a half, received minimal service and and not once were asked if we would like to get our food order in. At this point we simply asked for the bill on the drinks that were ordered and left. Overall, you will receive terrible service if it’s a group.
Great food! Great margaritas and I’m pretty picky! Service a bit slow but pleasant! Would definitely come again!
Located out by the Queen Mary on Terminal Island, this out-of-the-way restaurant features quiet dining with a superb view of the downtown Long Beach skyline across the Los Angeles River. The ambiance is especially wonderful at dusk when the city lights come on. In addition to outdoor patio dining, huge sliding doors open the entire restaurant to the outdoors reminiscent of restaurants in the tropics.
We had slot of fun on Valentine’s Day, the only thing the service was really slow! Other than that loved it
food is amazing
This is a great spot to go and get dinner with that special someone. I was very happy with everything overall. The service is great, the food and drinks are delicious, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The entire staff is very friendly and polite too.
They switched out the normal menu for a special menu for the holiday. No one informed us it was going to be 100 per person for dinner. When they called to confirm the reservation they did not mention the holiday set price.
This place is pretty awesome. The food is delicious and the service is great. The view is amazing.
A group of us went for Sunday brunch. The view is beautiful...the salsa style band is fun...very attentive and accommodating staff. Loved the food...especially the taco bar! It’s inside the Hotel Maya, which looks like a cool hotel. My absolutely only complaint is that the brunch is a bit pricey, otherwise, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.
Fantastic place but it was cold even under the heaters and inside.
Absolutely love this place! Even though it was cooler for the evening, the staffs mindfulness and service was stellar.
Great service and food! The view from Fuego is amazing!
it was a little hard to find by car because we ended up going thru the parking lot of the Princess Mary to get to the restaurant. Other than that, we enjoyed the view from the balcony and the food and service were great!
The service was great my meal was unimpressive. I’m a vegetarian and chose this restaurant because of the variety of options listed on their website. Unbeknownst to me, they had a limited menu for Christmas Day. None of the entree options provided were vegetarian. The chef, however, did accommodate my dietary restrictions by making me an entree off of the menu. Unfortunately he made my least favorite dish, risotto. For $200 for two people, I expected better.
The staff was great; the food was not.
Had a disappointing family lunch this week. The restaurant was not very busy yet service was extra slow. Two of our 4 entrees were cold and coffee was cold as well. What should have been a special Christmas lunch turned out to be an expensive disappointment. We've been here for dinner several times and never had a problem. Maybe it's just not a lunch place.
I did enjoy Fuego at Hotel Maya, mostly because of the fantastic views and the wonderful musicians from Nicaragua. The atmosphere was festive and the salsa dancing and lessons added a special touch. The food however was not on the same level. The buffet was nice but my entree "the whole fish" was cold, even the rice was cold and my napkin was stained with black marks on the back, it was dirty. It was my Birthday and I did not want to complain so I let it go! I would have to give the restaurant a C. The waiter was not attentive and I did not get that I'm being taken care of feeling. I was late for my reservation, partly due to traffic but also because the signs leading to the Hotel are confusing. I ended up in the Queen Mary parking lot, took a ticket, asked for directions to Hotel Maya and went right through to the exit then I was able to turn into the parking lot for the hotel. I would still recommend Fuego as a great place to have ocean front fun, but there are a few things they need to take a look at. A dirty napkin is a review killer!
Amazing! Everything was absolutely perfect: the view and the ambiance are absolutely stunning. Our waiter was polite and helpful and the food (I had a great lobster quesadilla) was delicious. The place were you can dream of being on holidays in a tropical resort. Loved it!
I have been going to Fuego for years. And this year I had the opportunity to share it with some close friends of mine. They were impressed with the location, food and overall service. Thanks for another great experience as always, love this place!
Second visit, first time to meet a client for lunch during the day and it was ideal, with quiet outdoor seating, extremely attentive and friendly service and one of the best views of water and cityscape in Southern California. Located halfway between west LA and Orange County, it was also the ideal midpoint for a meeting. Food's creative and good, sort of Latino/gastropub with a Cuban twist to some dishes, and well-prepared and presented. A difficult combination to find for a waterfront restaurant. Nice place for an after meal walk along the harborfront as well, with the Queen Mary dominating the vista, along with a cruise ship if one's in the harbor. Will be back, for sure. NOTE: With the access from the 710 under major construction for harbor and bridge access, best to come via Queen Mary access road from the Long Beach downtown Convention Center area.
Had a wonderful experience during Sunday Brunch. Wait exceeded the time expected for seating but the restaurant made up for it by giving us a table with ample space for our group. The service was excellent! Ezequiel was very attentive and managed our orders in a timely fashion. He was extremely pleasant and memorable. The food was great and there are a lot of options that accompany the Brunch Entree. Your brunch includes four different drink options (alcoholic beverages) including mimosas; there's an option for bottomless mimosas as well. You will leave feeling great with the beautiful ambiance, view, and delicious food. Appetizers, Entree, and buffet were all beautifully plated and displayed. I recommend the Ceviche, Chilaquiles, Waffles, and Taco + Salad Bar. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
I made a Thanksgiving dinner reservation based on price info, good reviews, and news articles on Thanksgiving dinner from the internet. The dinner was supposed to be $38, but it turned out to be $60. When I learned this shortly before dinner, I called the manager, Derrick, who assured me he would fix the situation in my favor. When I got to the restaurant, the asst. manager told me different and the price was not adjusted. Then, the table was rickety, the live jazz music soloist was too loud and awful, the next awful surprise was an extra $3 charge for coffee. On the favorable side, the cuisine was good and the ambience wonderful. Overall, we felt like it was a bait and switch ordeal.
It's close to a crime. Fuego had perhaps the most beautiful waterfront patio of any restaurant in Long Beach. I keep returning here when I need the calming presence of the water and the warmth of a sunny afternoon. The wait staff are always pleasant and professional. The crime is the food. When I bring people here it's always with an apology/explanation about how beautiful it is, and to expect edible but pathetically mediocre food. I don't really mind the fairly high prices considering the ambiance. Everything is bland. The braised meats are dry. The produce is at the end of its freshness. The plating is functional. I recently took my nephew who ordered the Chicken Tinga sandwich, shared some guacamole, had one of my tacos, and shared a salad. We needed to have some serious conversation so the location was perfect. His comment about the food after however was "the fries were okay....". I had heard they brought on a new chef not too long ago and after a long absence was excited to see if things had improved. Same exact menu and same exact problems. This could be one of the most magical places in Long Beach. No idea why the management is embracing culinary mediocrity. I think next time I'm going to order a drink, fries, and sneak in some first-rate five dollar take-out from one of our many amazing taco joints around town.
This was a nice restaurant for brunch with a beautiful view of Downtown Long Beach. The food was good quality overall, especially the bacon. Service was friendly, too.
We were staying at the hotel and didn’t really want to go anywhere. We made a reservation at the restaurant and are so glad that we did. The view was spectacular, the food was delicious, and the service was great. They surprised my girlfriend with a lovely dessert for her birthday.
Fuego's is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach.
I enjoyed my meal and you couldn't ask for a more perfect setting...
It was another beautiful California day. The ocean views were simply beautiful and relaxing. Attentive service with good food. We were a party of 3, all ordered salads (2 steak and an Ahi tuna). It was our first visit but it won't be the last.
Food was GREAT! Waiter was a little slow and furniture could be a little nicer/sturdier. Tables seemed flimsy and chairs were not comfortable. We spent $250 on dinner for 4 so expect a little higher quality in everything. Overall pretty great. Restaurant and ambiance was beautiful and romantic.
Great place with great food and awesome views of the ocean. They usually have live music on Sundays. Visit the Taco chef and try the salmon tacos!! and of course indulge in the bottomless mimosas!
I loved the outdoor seating and the scenic view of Downtown Long Beach. The service was great, I highly recommend the Short Rib Dish and the desert that I received for my birthday was exceptional. I would definitely come back to celebrate for any upcoming occasion.
