We recommend starting with a glass of wine, a bowl of French Onion Soup or escargot appetizer, and then move on to our seasonal seafood mains, fresh pastas or our classic steak and frits. Froggy’s diverse menu is geared to satisfy seafood aficionados, vegetarians and all omnivores alike. Always fresh, always French and always a fantastic dining experience.
Located in Highwood, nestled in between Highland Park and Lake Forest, come dine with us to see why Froggy’s is known as North Shore’s hidden gem.
Food was wonderful.
We hadn’t been here for dinner in a while, but found it absolutely delightful! Our seating preference was accommodated. The French wine selection was nice. The Foie Gras appetizer was so delicious that we ordered a second. The duck and veal are always favorites. We’ll be back!
Froggy's still provides a gastronomic delight with quality service and atmosphere. We will always be back.
Always a delight! Delicious, refreshing, not heavy & good wine! Just heaven!
While I grew up in Highland Park, I had never attended Froggy's. It is now my top restaurant pick. The food, the service, the ambience, and the gorgeous room and fantastic complete and creative menu were enticing. Every appetizer and entree were wonderful as were the desserts. No one in my party of 6 ordered the same items. What a find. I am embarrassed that this was my first exposure to Froggy's. I am looking forward to a return visit soon!
The choices on the menu were fabulous. Our meals - chicken special and steak special were served perfectly cooked with an amazing mushroom sauce. The vegetables were savory and artfully placed on the plates. Even the butter was a design. We splurged on the bread pudding, the chocolate cake and the lemon cream brulee which were absolutely delicious. We came for the special pris fix dinner and enjoyed it thoroughly. This is a restaurant not to miss - for lunch or dinner. The service was excellent and our waiter cheerfully answered all our questions. We shall return!!! Oh yes, the delightful umbrella room and the soft french music and pictures combined with the excellent French cooking was five star.
We really liked the location and ambiance of Froggy’s. We had high expectations for the food since we knew the dishes were going to be on the expensive side. However, we were disappointed by our meals. By the time both dishes came out (fish) they were semi cold. Nothing worst than eating cold fish. The wait staff were really nice!
Just a wonderful favorite place. Very French and very well prepared
The fish was too salty and not fresh
Server was a bit pushy and seemingly indifferent
Great food, served on time, wonderful customer service.
Been going here for a few years and just feels like it’s going down hill. Food was like warm and the rear dining room feels dirty.
We enjoyed our meal, but I wish that open table had informed me that it was a pre fixed price of $75 each for the Valentines Day menu. That was pricey for us. I feel that we should have been informed.
ordered ratatoulie pasta
mushroom soup was amazing
great wine selection moderate priced
felt like we where in france for a moment
We've been coming to Froggy's for many years now and still love it. The food is always excellent.
Lovely prix fixe menu celebration for two for my husband’s birthday! The cozy bar had a fire going and a talented musician created the perfect ambiance for a January night. Dinner was romantic and the waiter provided just the right amount of attentive service — and remembered us from three months ago! Dinner as always was top notch and my husband was in heaven with his venison Wellington with boar confit (a special), with great wine pairings throughout. Wish we could come back more often!
We visited Froggy's for my wife's birthday. Wonderful interesting food and attentive, but not intrusive service. Our waiter listened to our wine taste preferences and helped us find an excellent bottle. Mostly important, the dining room has an intimate and quiet atmosphere. In today glut of noisy restaurants where conversation is nearly impossible, Froggy's is an oasis of wonderful French cuisine and ambiance.
We have wanted to go to Froggy’s for many years and since we moved closer, my wife’s birthday seemed a good time to try Froggy’s. The service was superb! Mostly, the food was good. Our entrees were delicious.
I have eaten at Froggy’s many times over the years. The food is always excellent!! I like the the fact that the menu keeps changing
Special occasion/date night. Great!
Service and food are outstanding. It is especially great for special occasions.
My friend and I have a tradition of celebrating our birthdays here, and this one did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere is absolutely perfect for having a nice conversation where you can actually hear one another talk!
we had a wonderful meal especially my berry mousse dessert was outstanding. my tripe dish was salty. very creative menu and great presentation. waiter was very attentive. we will definitely be back.
We've always enjoyed sitting outside in the summer, ordering appetizers and a bottle (or 2) of wine. Last weekend we decided to have a full meal in the bar area. We had a wonderful time. The waiter and busboys were very attentive. The recommended wine was perfect and fairly priced (I used a wine app to check the price). My wife had the fish special. I had the ribeye. It all was really good and we look forward to our next visit.
Super quirky, super fun, super delicious! A great place for special night out.
Local gem of a restaurant. Food is authentic as well as the chef and host.
Always great food, our favorite restaurant in Highwood
I have been to Froggy's before and have had a wonderful meal, however, this night was a huge disappointment. The main problem was the amount of salt used in the meal preparation. We had a table of 8 so we had an opportunity to order all the soups and they were all inedible due to the salt. Several of the people ordered the chef's fish selection plate and some of the fish was inedible due to salt and was sent back. The duck a l'orange was way over cooked, which, for a French restaurant should NEVER happen. I love the atmosphere at Froggy's but have to say that this visit left a very bad taste in my mouth. No pun intended.
Micah, not sure I am spelling it right, was an outstanding waiter. I was a little underwhelmed by the salad that came with the dinner...looked pretty but underdressed and tasted bland, plus you had to cut the entire thing yourself. Could have sworn that last year on NYE the fixed price dinner included a glass of nice champagne with dessert, but though price seemed the same, this year that did not happen. The dessert was delightful though and so was the cappucino I ordered!
Our party of three chose Froggy's to celebrate our 35th New Year's Eve feast and a feast it was: a staggering variety of appetizers, entrees, and deserts, all well prepared and seamlessly presented.
The house was full but clearly the owners had invested in additional waitstaff and probably sous-everything as well. We never felt rushed nor ignored. Noise level modest and it was easy to enjoy conversation.
The complimentary valet service on this cold and raining evening was an additional bonus.
Vive le Frogg!
Froggy’s is our go to restaurant for holiday and celebration
Hadn't been here in a few years. This experience was very disappointing. Foie gras app was served over soggy toast with a heavy/sweetish sauce that hid any flavor of the foie. The sweetbreads main, was semi crispy, but the sweetbreads themselves were just not 'fresh'. Odd 'off' flavors. Then the "French" bread pudding which again was so soggy it might have just been pudding, period. Maybe I was overly critical, having just returned from 3 weeks in France, but bad is bad. If you advertise French cuisine, with a french chef, AND charge accordingly, then it should be good.
Froggy's delivers every time, with a brilliant and warm-hearted chef/owner Thierry from Brittany, a superb waitstaff, reliably outstanding French cuisine and a warmly Parisian ambiance. This is our go-to spot for quiet lunches, but any excuse to go at any time and for any occasion is welcome. It is indeed a "neighborhood gem," but well worth the drive from anywhere.
We were looking for a special setting for a family holiday gathering...Froggy's was absolutely perfect. We loved the creative menu from the chef and the service was outstanding.
We were a party of 6. Two of us had the fois gras appetizer and we thought it was good. My husband had the oysters and they were ok, not as good as other places we've had them. For dinner, my husband had the special fish duo and he said it was outstanding. One person had the maine lobster and the portion was so small! Maybe 6 or so small pieces cut up out of the shell and fanned across the plate. . .definitely for a petite appetite. She was very disappointed. Two people had the salmon and said it was very good. I had the lamb chops and was also very disappointed. They were so small and thin. . .I had ordered them medium rare, but given how thin they were, it would be difficult to achieve that. They certainly were not the wonderful juicy chops I was expecting from a French restaurant. The plate presentations were beautiful all around, and the service was top notch.
Exceptional service, food was great, conversation friendly atmosphere
I finally returned to this restaurant after about 10 to 12 years, I was a fool. Great food, Great value, great service. If you live on the North Shore and you haven't been here yet, you are missing out.
I rate very few restaurants because we all have our favorites and i don't need to write a 3rd or 4th review for thew same restaurants. Well guess who just made my favorite's list?? FROGGY'S.
Price Fix menu is the way to go, very good wine list and priced fairly. French at it's best.
A lovely spot for lunch w/ college friends. They loved the venue, as well as the food.
Always great. Mushroom soup is the best
