We recommend starting with a glass of wine, a bowl of French Onion Soup or escargot appetizer, and then move on to our seasonal seafood mains, fresh pastas or our classic steak and frits. Froggy’s diverse menu is geared to satisfy seafood aficionados, vegetarians and all omnivores alike. Always fresh, always French and always a fantastic dining experience.
Located in Highwood, nestled in between Highland Park and Lake Forest, come dine with us to see why Froggy’s is known as North Shore’s hidden gem.
Lunch: Monday - Friday: 11:30am - 2:00pm: Dinner: Monday - Thursday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm, Friday & Saturday: 5:00pm - 11:00pm
Very nice place for lunch with friends. The special of the day squash soup was not as good as usual - I will definitely stay with the French onion soup which is outstanding. The crab cake was a bit too spicy for me, though others at the table rated it very good. We were all disappointed with the service during this visit. Our waiter seemed more interested in talking with friends at the bar instead of answering our questions. This was unusual, because the service at Froggy's is usually outstanding and friendly. We will definitely go back, so do still like it.
Always great food and a wonderful experience! Love the beautiful umbrella ceiling.
Great North Shore restaurant near Ravinia. Prompt service fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation
Our second visit, this time several years after the first. We were very pleased with the food, lamb and pheasant, pork chop.
Service was not focus on my party.
Froggy's is a cozy little French restaurant where one can get an excellent meal without breaking the bank. All our dishes were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The ingredients were fresh. There are ample choices for both seafood and meat eaters.
Our server, Micah, was outstanding in all spheres: efficient, knowledgeable, engaging and professional.
The service was great, the waiter had the entire front section of the bar and he covered it well. Loved the open window seating. It's a good thing I had a late lunch, the portions were small for the price. The scallops looked liked they were cut in half. But they were tasty.
Food was delicious and a great value! Very generous portions. My favorite restaurant in Highwood!
Froggy's is a gem on the North Shore of Chicago. It has been around for decades and has not lost it's touch. Their food, service and ambiance are outstanding. Highwood is a hustling, bustling restaurant scene but one you're in Froggy's, you are transformed into the French countryside. They also have complimentary valet parking.
Heard great reviews of the place, but the actual experience was very disappointing. We all had Chef's special but the salad was soggy, portions were small and none of the sea food felt fresh at all. Everything was all very uninspiring. On top of that , the wait staff were friendly but very amatuerish
We went to Froggy's to celebrate out 43rd anniversary. The food and service were excellent. The menu was creative and somewhat different from other similar restaurants we have eaten at in the last couple of years. We will definitely return in the near future.
The superbly presented plates were equaled by the quiet, tastefully decorated atmosphere making an evening catch-up with friends truly relaxing and memorable. The food itself was both delicious and delightful—both savory and sweet. Froggy’s is definitely at the top of the special list.
Was good dinner but had big trouble accomodating my wife's allergies. Communication between kitchen and wait staff could be better. If the weather is good, better outside
We’ve been going to Froggy’s for 25 years. Hasn’t lost its charm. Great foo & service.
Fantastic food, delightful atmosphere, great service, and an easy elegance make this place wonderful! One of our all-time favorites!
We had excellent service and all of our food was absolutely delicious! We’ll be back soon.
Fantastic place & the food was amazing! 🐸🐸
Froggy's is reliable and one of the few quiet restaurants in the area. The menu varies very little from the time the restaurant opened.
We used to frequent Froggy's until about 2010, and then started going again in the last two years. Our last two visits have disappointed and we may not return. Dining with a large group once and as a couple the second time, the experience was the same -- variable food quality and courteous but indifferent (to the point of getting things wrong) service. Wines by the glass are nearly undrinkable and expensive for what they are. (Some of the $10 pours are from bottles that cost <$10 retail.) The full wine list has more possibilities. On both recent visits the waiters were totally uninformed about the wines and mixed up our food orders. The kitchen is capable of turning out excellent food, especially the daily specials, but staples like rack of lamb, pasta with shrimp, and duck did not meet even our modest expectations.
It used to be that Froggy's offered amazing value -- very good French food at a good price. Now it is just French food at a good price. As my son commented after one recent meal: Meh.
One of our regular favorites!
We occasionally get lured back to Froggy's by theiradvertised great value (doesn't show on menu) early supper deal. The choices are limited. Both my husband and my soups were very good. However the wine and the entrees were not. The server never asked about quality. My requested rare salmon was overcooked flacky drowned in soggy vegetables. My husband's chicken cordon bleu was as hard as a rock, it was so overcooked.
We always enjoy dining at Froggy's, whether dinner or in this instance, a business lunch. Knowledgable staff, food is always great. The place has personality.
Good neighborhood French restaurant that is upscale. Service was leisurely which was to our taste
From the moment we sat down we were amazed at the ambiance and service. Our waiter was exceptional. He noticed that we were deep in conversation (great friends who haven’t been together for awhile). He was amazing and let us take our time. The food was outstanding. Everyone loved their food from fish to steak and lamb. Dessert was a great finish to s wonderful night!!
This used to be a terrific restaurant. I first went here in the 1990s--a destination from downtown Chicago--and have eaten at Froggys several times since. But our latest visit was highly disappointing. To the point we will not return.
The service was quite disappointing. The waiter did not speak fluent English--which is fine--but he was difficult to understand and there were communication problems. For example, someone at the table ordered an entree and said they did not want any mushrooms on the dish, only to have the meal served slathered in mushrooms and sauce. We had to ask if there were any food specials and specialty items on the menu/wine list because the server explained nothing. And we were mis-charged for something we did not order. The server didn't apologize but rather argued with us before realizing it was his error.
The food itself was sub-par. A chicken breast was quite dry, and the portion sizes were small for what you pay. It's curious that the tastiest thing on the plate was a snap-pea. Dessert was adequate but at $8 a piece, it should be exquisite.
Finally, we were asked if there was a special occasion and we were out celebrating a wedding anniversary. Then, not only was the occasion not even acknowledged (a feeble congratulations couldn't be extended?), I'm not sure why they ask if they're going to ignore the very reason you're dining out in the restaurant in the first place.
When I've gone before, the restaurant was "hopping." Here, even at 7 pm, there were only a handful of people eating within the restaurant. There's plenty of competition--so this place needs to step up its game because it seemed clear that others had heard the word that this place "has not held up." Sadly, it's time for us to hop away.
Froggy’s has delicious food and great service in a beautiful setting. Good value too!
The rack of lamb was excellent as well as my wife's entree.
The service was excellent as was our server. The list of chardonnays by the glass was limited to 2.
One of my favorite restaurants! Always reliably great food, warm and friendly servers and chef,
a great value. Love it!
Bastille day menu covered anything you could possibly want. Romantic ambiance and a delicious summer evening.
As always, perfect experience.
Amazing place to go on a date or dinner with friends! Cute French flare! Great service!
Our service was excellent and the food was fabulous!!!
Froggy's has been our go-to spot for special occasions for 25 years. The fish special on the menu (from Australia) had little taste and was a disappointment. Not a good value for the price. But, of course, we will return for our next special occasion.
We have been dining at Froggy's since it opened. Without exception, every meal has been excellent.
We sat in the bar area and had a great dinner. The food was great, service was friendly and attentive and the overall atmosphere was perfect. One of our favorite restaurants in Highwood!
Everything was just perfect. Service was attentive but not over done. The food was excellent as usual. Our favorite spot for special occasions.
Our 3 orders gaspacho soup arrived spoiled, and instead of apologizing and offering an alternative or The server was defensive. Duck entee was underdone, but the patron was never asked how they want it cooked.
I asked for a water with no ice for my child and was impatiently told that they have no plastic cups (I had not asked for one).
Nothing was done to male up for these snafus. Mybsalad was good, but, overall, a disappointing experience. We will not be back.
Loved Froggy's - first time visit - really enjoyed ourselves. Live guitar music and was at just the right noise level.
Delicious foie gras appetizer and always amazing sweetbreads satisfy our french food cravings. However they have many other menu items for every palate. We always enjoy their garden room and that night they had a soft guitarist singer who made our evening an unexpected treat.
Excellent service. Bar area was excellent and great for a summer evening since it opens to the outside.
