Always excellent. a special place to meet special people
Excellent service and food was wonderful, as always. It made Mother’s Day very special for my mom.
Great as usual. French food is my favorite. Service is good. Host is very good and speaks french fluently. Adds to the ambience. Will go back.
Great food and ambiance....
In a day when great French-influenced restaurants are disappearing and fit-for-foodies restaurants that are open for lunch are in short supply, Froggy's serves multiple purposes and does so exceptionally well. The main menu is a treat, challenging only the decision-making (so many great choices!). But daily specials are so delightful that they often make the choice easier. The atmosphere is so authentic that you easily can pretend that you have bi-located to Paris or Lyon (even though the owner/chef is from Normandy). Finally, while Froggy's is not inexpensive, it is absolutely affordable and represents a bargain for the extraordinary quality of the cuisine and service.
Had mild expectations which were shattered. This place is great. I wish the onion soup used s meat based broth yet that’s really my only complaint. The salads were great. The apps were great. The bread was great. The mains were great. The service was great. We felt the meal was worth every penny and we will return.
Been visiting this restaurant for 35 years. Love it and always will.
Froggy's never gets old. Took my best friend there tonight to celebrate her approaching birthday & 50+ years of friendship. Food was fabulous. Wine was wonderful. Ambiance was awesome. Overall experience was outstanding. Our server was friendly & attentive without being cloying. Lovely memorable evening. We couldn't have been more pleased.
the food was outstanding, the service outstanding!
It was for my birthday and everything was perfect.
Authentic French food and fantastic knowledgeable service
Consistently one of the best restaurants in Chicagoland. Wonderful service, ambience, food, and price. A real gem worth the detour, as they say.
I had heard about Froggy's for along time and felt like it was about time to eat there. When we arrived we had to wait for a bit as there was no one at the front desk, very French, huh? The lady that eventually greeted us was sweet and friendly and walked us into the front room. I was expecting the back room, but glad we sat in front as the back looked stuffy and the front was like being in a different city (like we were on vacation). Our waiter was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the menu and specials and picked us out a great bottle of wine (for about $40). The service wasn't rushed, which was perfect as we wanted to chat and catch up with our friends over wine. All in all I'd go back as the food was tasty (not great, but really good), the service wonderful and the atmosphere perfect.
I had not been to Froggy’s in years so we thought we would try it again. The decor was dated. The staff was very pleasant. The food was mediocre, cold, and overpriced. There are so many new restaurants in the area that are more innovative with their menus and less expensive.
Service was uncharacteristically poor - and we had guests with us.
Great experience, loved it and will definitely be back
We both had the prix fix gourmet menu. I started with the butternut squash soup which was delicious. My wife had the timbale of ratatouille niçoise, which she loved. We both had the special fish of the day, wahoo, which was outstanding. We finished with an apple tart and the chocolate hazelnut mousse cake that they decorated specially for my birthday. Yum!! All in all, a truly great meal!
Celebrated a special birthday here. Service was impeccable, staff is totally professional and very experienced, everything was done beautifully. Authentic French food was outstanding, just what we were hoping for. We splurged with foie gras, it was perfectly prepared and delicious. If you are looking for traditional dishes, they're all here from sweetbreads to blanquette de veau. Lovely desserts -- don't miss the amazing bread pudding with caramel sauce! Plates were artistically designed, very elegant. Wine list is fabulous and the owner very knowledgeable and helpful. Froggy's is a 45 minute drive for us, but worth it. We'll be back!
Froggy's is one of my favorite places for French cuisine. Had a lovely meal with dear friends as part of a belated Christmas celebration. Fab food, wine & service. Highly recommended.
Froggy's is impossible to beat for a great lunch with foodie friends. Everything on the menu and the daily specials are superb, service is impeccable, the setting is delightful and the main room is virtually silent at lunchtime(though you may have to request it). If you want to hear your friends go "ooh" and "AAHHH" all through lunch, take them to Froggy's. It has become my go-to spot.
Always excellent and creative French Food, quiet so you can actually hear the person next to you talking, great well trained and attentive service. All the compliments are well deserved.
We have been satisfied customers for over 10 years.
Really good ambiance and nice crew. Ideal place to share with love, family or friends
We have been fond of Froggy's and Thierry for many years, and Highwood has never been short on dining options. But our recent lunch was among the finest experiences we have ever had at Froggy's. The food, service and ambience were all first-rate. For an over-the-top wonderful lunch experience in the area, this is the place that sets the bar higher than any other place can match.
Our first time at Froggy's and we loved it. Charcuterie is one of my favorite things at a French restaurant and theirs was fantastic. The cream of wild mushroom soup was perfect and our main dishes were as well.
We first ate at Froggy's several years ago when it was a relatively new restaurant. At that time, it was known for having very good French food for very reasonable prices. Unfortunately, it has now become a restaurant with, at best, average food for high prices. Our waitress was quite good. She was attentive and knowledgeable. I only wish the quality of the food was equal to her service. The mushroom appetizer was quite bland. The mussels were prepared well in a nice sauce. My wife had beef wellington. It was so bland that, other than texture, it was hard to distinguish the crust from the beef. I ordered the Chef's Creation which consisted of rabbit in a berry liqueur sauce, veal in a crust and pheasant wellington. The rabbit was quite good. The pheasant wellington was very very bland. As for the veal, it was extremely salty. Our desserts (creme brulee and a mousse with berries) were both good. Unfortunately, given the low quality of the food and the high price, we will not return.
I had not been back in many years, but I was meeting a friend for lunch who lives nearby. I thought the menu choices and service were excellent. The food was really great! I was there for lunch so the cafe was perfect on a sunny winter day. The back dining room is perfect for dinner. It was well-worth the drive from Chicago to have a great experience!
We always enjoy going to Froggy's. We prefer sitting in the front room. Service is always great and more often than not, the owner/chef Thierry stops by. This time, Thierry heard that our son, age 9, who accompanied us to dinner was a soccer player and avid follower. The staff later brought him a soccer bag ornament with soccer balls and an Eiffel Tower!
Wine list is not exhaustive, but very good and even more, modestly priced. Appetizers, both the regular ones and especially the specials are top notch. Dinner specials are particularly good. Nice to be able to get great service, very good food and wine at a very reasonable price.
Enjoyed the drinks, dinner and dessert. The ambience is quite playful and nice.
Food and service always outstanding! Glad to see some new variety to the plating and menu.
I have never had a bad meal, always excellent service. Extra attention paid because it was a special occasion.
I have been going to Froggy's for decades. The food is always fantastic as is the service and ambiance.
Food was terrible, every single dish has same side that was obviously made from frozen vegetables. Food tasted bland, not sure why this restaurant is upscale french dining.
Very nice restaurant with a solid tradition of fine dining in an attractive and one of a kind colorful environment. Excellent service and attention to detail.
The food was terrible! Very disappointed.
Wonderful dinner on a quiet Wednesday night. Service was attentive but not at all intrusive. Learned that they also have cooking classes. Will definitely return and also look into the classes.
We celebrated a BIG BIRTHDAY and were treated royally. Service and food was outstanding, including champagne and dessert as a gift from the restaurant.
Fabulous restaurant to treat a friend to a memorable lunch. We had a seafood entree that was not only beautifully presented, but was absolutely delicious. There are monthly and daily special options that always wonderful. Of course, these include the soups that Froggy's is known for. My friend felt very special on her birthday. Whenever I want to celebrate a special occasion, this is the first place I think of.
We had a wonderful time being back to Froggys with our family. We have always enjoyed
ordering the Gourmet Menu and trying various courses to create a special dinner. Froggy's always presents a beautiful plate with a lot of attention to detail. There are many long time employees that provide wonderful and friendly service. I especially like the front room by the fireplace but the entire restaurant is warm and inviting.
