Frog Hollow Tavern Ratings and Reviews
The ribeye was perfectly prepared, the server was very friendly and fun. The noise level was perfect for a quiet conversation and felt cozy. A little spendy but a very good value for the service and the food quantity and quality.
Has become my favorite restaurant in Augusta.
One of our favorite Augusta restaurants for special occasions. Service always great and food is generally very good. Wife ordered tile fish special that was excellent. Pork chop special was prepared well but meat was too fatty, lots of gristle and not evenly cooked. Should have spoken to server but did not want to spoil wife's evening. Crème Brule was also excellent.
The food would be great BUT everything is so overly salted and overly buttered it’s ridiculous. Even my date who needs extra salt in her diet and salts many things commented that her meal was way too salty which made me feel more at ease about drinking 4 full glasses of water at dinner due to my sodium loaded dish. This place could absolutely be next level if it weren’t for everything being basted in butter this and served with brown butter that and “simply seasoned” when it really feels like a whole tablespoon of salt has been dumped on your dish. I really do feel as if the quality has deteriorated from a few years ago and they are now playing to a more “southern Paula Deen” palate as the restaurant has become more popular. Sad.
The epitome of farm to table! Perfect for a date night or just a high caliber meal. The menu may look limited at first glance, but everything they offer is truly delicious.
Our server was great; he was super knowledgeable about every dish and very attentive. The hostesses seemed a little standoffish, but at a place this busy, I'm sure it gets stressful. 100% get a reservation!
After several visits, Frog Hollow remains at the top of the heap, imho, tied with two other spots in Augusta. Always consistent & innovative, with delicious food which is served perfectly, and has superb service from all staff members. Specials continue to be fantastic, and main menu will never disappoint either. A great place for special occasions, or like us, just a great meal. Being there is our special occasion. We had fish items this time, all delicious, but previous experiences with steaks, pork shoulder or chops have also been great. Menu can be tweaked to accommodate those with inability to eat meat, if someone in party can't. Indulge yourself, and dine there often. Thanks to the chef and to the staff for another sweet evening.
Food was great as usual. Service is outstanding. The only problem is the nonstop blue grass music. Our table was in the back dining room where bar noise is relatively less. Music got irritating after a while. I dined at this place many times before. In the main room, you don't hear the music with the noise but this back room was not so good unfortunately.
I was celebrating my 17th year wedding anniversary and the staff made sure to make us feel special, even though it was clearly a busy day. The food was fantastic. My wife and I come to dine occasionally but we will make an effort to come more regularly. we went to your sister property, Craft & Vine, for after dinner cocktails and thoroughly enjoyed it there as well.
We both had a salad to start(Kale and the wedge with blue cheese and bacon)..the crusty bread was next and as usual you can't stop eating it.One entrée was the Duck Confils and the other was the Short Rib with mashed potatoes and root vegetables. Both items were very good.No room for dessert so we wrapped it up with De-caf coffee.A good time was had.Looking forward to our next visit. The service from Katie was impeccable....
Excellent food , great waiter, loved it!!! Would definitely recommend it to friends!!! Can't wait to come back!!! The creme brulee was amazing ! The oyster appetizer special was extremely delicious and the in house made sausage was delight to the pallet! Only drawback was the construction on the parking garage made it difficult to find a close parking spot.
I always enjoy dining at this restaurant. This last visit concerned me. I ordered the small plates of clams and steamed oysters. The first three oysters I enjoyed-excellent flavor. The last three I tried had bits of shell mixed into the oyster. I could not eat them. I did let the waitress know who said she would let the kitchen know. Very disappointed in them.
Wonderful discovery in Augusta. From first seating to final dessert, this place does it right. Nice selection of local ingredients, carefully handled, and creatively crafted into excellent fare. Specials were selected by each of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our choices. Perfect timing on the oysters and andoulie sausage appetizers. Wonderful both. Timing on main courses also perfect, nice an hot, and perfectly spiced. We had grouper, amazing pork chops and diver scallops. Each dish was presented beautifully, perfectly cooked and delightfully seasoned. Desserts of crème brule, goat cheesecake and apple with ice cream disappeared quickly.
Nice moderate sound level made dinner conversation comfortable and enjoyable. We'll be back soon!
