Friends Sushi on Rush Ratings and Reviews
Went for happy hour with a couple colleagues and really enjoyed the maki rolls. We thought we had ordered some spicy ones - Fire Dragon and something else but they weren’t spicy. With wasabi on them, they were very good. Had a couple of the veggie ones too - what an awesome selection! The tempura sweet potato maki and futo maki were both very tasty. We’ll definitely be back! Oh and the cocktails were yummy too :)
Service was great and they made special items for us since one was vegan and great options on the menu...vast! The noise level is loud but the cozy-ness dulls it. The staff made us feel welcome. Pricey on some “staples” but worth it! Great choice if you want to have a fun relaxing eve with friends or a loved on if you dont mind sitting close to other tables....although as close as we are to other tables we still felt privacy.
My expectation on dining at Sushi on Rush were high. The restaurant was cozy and funky, with a good vibe. the menu promised interesting and innovative twists on sushi rolls. Unfortunately, the maki that I ordered turned out to be mostly rice, with the heralded combination of ingredients hard to find. Sushi on Rush promised far more than it delivered.
I really love Friends but lately the service has been super disappointing. The last three times I've gone I've had to wait at least 10 minutes before an actual server greets me. That's unacceptable. The water guys will pour me a water but then I will wait and wait for a server to come up and ask me what I would like to drink/eat. This is really the only thing they need to fix. Other than that their food is always excellent.
High quality sushi, great presentation, in a romantic atmosphere.
If you need to make reservations any time after 9pm don't bother. The kitchen closes at 9:45 pm. We were rushed to order, had so much food brought to us at once, it wouldn't fit on the table. A second drink was out of the question-apparently the kitchen closing affects the bar service as well??
Staff was rude, sat around waiting for us to finish-and TOLD us that! They cleared our plates and bar glasses, as we still had sushi left to eat. We we're out of the restaurant by 10:50pm on a Thursday night! Far from what should have been a relaxing, enjoyable, romantic dinner. For the price make sure you have reservations and arrive before 9pm.
A great sushi spot for a weekend night! We were seated promptly when we arrived for our reservation. Upon entering, you might notice how tightly packed this small space is, but somehow it seemed to work with the vibe of the restaurant. The sashimi sampler was delicious as were the "Can You Handle It?" roll and rainbow roll.
Food was excellent. Server's sushi recommendations were delicious. Definitely recommend calling ahead. Both nights we went were very busy. Even had to wait some with reservations. Atmosphere was very cool. Smaller parties (2-4) are better as tables and space are limited. We had the teriyaki and sushi and several appetizers. Everything was great. The best part was the mochi for desert.
Such a cute place! Our server was lovely and very helpful. The menu is amazing. It's absolutely 5 stars for me. My only tiny problem was that I ordered 5 rolls that were all quite different and it is so dark in the restaurant that I had no idea which was which (they all come on the same plate). Def too dark to take a pic. But you know what, it didn't matter because it was all delicious. We had a wonderful time and we'll be back!
Overall, very nice sushi restaurant experience. Nigiri was fresh and generous. Service was prompt and friendly, with just one surprising exception.
I asked for a substitution on a sushi sample (wishing to upgrade the California role), and of course offered to pay the price difference -- but was refused. Not a huge deal, and some other places also refuse to substitute, but I believe there's always a fair price that can be charged for giving the customer what they want. It's a shame to negatively color an otherwise very enjoyable experience with a rigid rule -- just my $.02!
