Frida's Mexican Beach House is a restaurant serving eclectic Mexican fare along with dishes inspired by Central and South American culinary traditions. As the name implies, Frida's is located right next to the Hawaiian beach. This allows diners to listen to the waves roll in as they eat their meals or just sip on a cocktail. Frida's is a tequila bar in addition to a restaurant, as it carries over 40 different tequilas that are ideal for taking as shots or sipping slowly.
Frida's menu features primarily Mexican cuisine, although some Central American flavors and dishes have made their way onto the menu as well. Entreés include items like fresh fish Veracruz, tiger prawn mojo de ajo, grilled Spanish octopus, rib eye mojo de ajo, chile relleno, huevos rancheros, enchiladas, burritos and street tacos. Guests can also order a side of cactus fries with their entrée.
Great service, great food and the scenery is amazing! Our waitress took our cameras and took pics of the sunset and us. Food selection is what you expect from a Mexican restaurant with a few flairs that are outstanding. As prior reviews state, extra chips/salsa is extra but who cares, it’s all home made and worth it! Check it out and go for a sunset dinner and you’ll really enjoy it!
Great food, great service, beautiful scenery.
Wonderful as usual!
My wife and I love coming to Frida’s for dinner from upcountry when we’re on the West side.
It’s always a treat to sit by the water, watch the sunset, and have a great meal!
Food was good, not great. They charge you for second round of chips & salsa. Waitress was VERY sour. Our table was awesome. Right at the edge closest to waves and at sunset. That was great.
The service was good, the food was good.....if you’re eating early the seats along the railing are hot. Would definitely eat there again
Outstanding food, service and staff. Our server, Danah, added to a perfect evening.
Absolutely amazing!! Food, service, valet parking. Beach side. View, OMG!!
Wonderful margaritas and chips and salsa. Fresh fish taco was excellent
Have eaten here a few times. Tried again but will not return. Waitress had a chip on her shoulder very rude. It was not the first time we have had her as a waitress at this location. Food is over priced I say if you have to pay for a second batch of chips it’s not truly a Mexican flare restaurant... food portions just so so ...sorry but I cannot give it a better rating
Amazing views from the patio, perfect place to catch the sunset. Some of the food is fantastic, while some dishes are not so great.
This was our first visit to Frida's. We chose to go midafternoon to avoid crowds and there were only about 3 or 4 other tables filled when we arrived at 2 p.m. We sat on the outside terrace overlooking the bay near the old Mala wharf and the boats moored nearby - a nice view with plenty of shade. We were seated immediately and supplied with water, fresh chips and a mild house salsa, drinks arriving quickly after ward, a very refreshing amber Dos Equis.
We both ordered enchilada plates, one with vegetables and the other with Carne asada. The ranchero sauce was very flavorful and each ingredient came through distinctly. The Carne asada was very tasty as were the the mix of squash, zucchini and peppers in the vegetable enchiladas. Sides of rice and beans showed the same care to show originality in taste and preparation. Service throughout was friendly and attentive. A very pleasurable experience.
We had great food and a great view
This was a real treat. I wouldn't call it just Mexican but a combination of Mexican and South American. I had fresh fish that was grilled and prepared with some amazing spices. My wife is a Vegetarian and her dish was also excellent. We are headed back tonight for a casual dinner with a great view and sunset.
Cinco Dmayo at Frida's. Food was fair. Service was good. Ambiance is great and patio seating on the water is super.
And great cinco de Mayo spot on the island!
Our first time to Frida’s and we will definitely return. We were there to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Our reservation was early but saw them setting up for live music - that would be fun to enjoy.
We had a fabulous server (wish I’d caught her name) who gave us terrific suggestions and played along with our silliness.
Delicious: The Frida (drinks), their salsa, ahi appetizer (I’d return just for this), and grilled octopus!
Excellent food and service!
We had a delicious meal with amazing views. I am vegan and they are very accommodating. You must try the Fresca salad!! Sooooooo yummy!!!
Food was amazing! Got the taco plate with chicken tinga and fish...so flavorful! The chips and salsa were great...it’s a little weird that you have to pay for a 2nd basket, but I understand with import costs, etc. The only thing that wasn’t great was my house margarita...it was a little bland and sour. Other than that, love this place and will definitely come back when in Maui again!
Limit menu and very expensive. But then again it is Hawaii.
Great food hospitality service. We couldn’t have better. Even the valet was good. Best Mexican food in lahaina.
Excellent Mexican food, margaritas in a romantic setting on the beach!
We have been here many times and find the food very tasty, promptly served, and great views of the sunset. Highly recommend this place.
great food and good service. pricey for Mexican. parking can be an issue, however during off hours this is not a problem.
Reservation for sunset patio seating a must. Lovely view. Complimentary valet parking. Nicest, most knowledgeable bartender on island, Burt!
Order for two al á carte tacos- carne asada and fish tacos- 2 cheese enchiladas with double cilantro rice and side of cotija corn. Their cotija corn is addictive!! Add 3 drinks by Burt and total for the night $90, before tips.
From a very nice prickly pear margarita to two solid tacos (grilled ono and carnitas) ending with a small but delicious dense flan, once again Frieda’s was a solid Mexican meal.
Cold hostess, terrible seating, and cold food. We have been Frida’s home in Mexico. The decor of this restaurant is an insult to her art and love of bold colors.
Very good food and amazing view!
Lack of reasonably priced food and not a great deal of variety
Great service. Great margaritas and food. Carnitas enchilada are fantastic!!
We love coming here for the beachside dining and yummy food. The Margaritas are the best and the guacamole. We will be back!
We booked about 30 minutes before arrival and given a small table for 2 right on the water. Dana was our server and she discussed the menu and options. We were able to talk about travels and where we all hoped to vacation next.
I had the two taco plate (grilled fish and short rib) as you could choose two different tacos. My husband had a deconstructed taco plate that he enjoyed.
We had never been there before in all the times we have traveled to Maui but it’s now in our list as well as Dana S
The food was great and the view was awesome! We will go back for sure on every vacation which is several times per year!
Good food and drinks.
Did I mention great service.
Awesome Mexican cuisine. Excellent service. Really busy, so do not expect a quite dinning experience. Valet parking was very welcomed. An error in our order was promptly acknowledged and corrected by our server. Highly recommend.
Nice night with the family (6 people). Weather was our enemy and delayed or seating by about 10 mins as they scrambled to make arrangements inside. Overall an enjoyable time with good food and service.
Great customer service
Great selection with choice of meat fillings for burritos, taco, enchiladas. Salsa has a smokey flavor .. best we've ever had.
