Friendly but disorganized service. Our party of 4 waited 15 minutes for a waitress to come to our table after we were seated by hostess. Then another 10 minutes for water. ( no water glasses on table and no water offered when guests sit down) We got our meal side dishes before our appetizers, and before we had any plates to put food onto. Wanted to love it but found experience too slow and irritating to merit a second visit when there are so many great little restaurants in Toronto.

Frieda had good food but the service was a little bit slow. If you can wait a little bit it is worth it.

Food was quite good. The Red Snapper meal was excellent--great flavour, texture, etc.--but should have come with a side kind of side, even a few nachos to scoop up the delicious salsa/sauce. I guess I should have added the side of rice. The Chicken Tostadas were quite good, not at all dry and good textures but I expected a stronger punch of flavour. They were still good but quite subtle. The salsas were excellent with the nachos--all made in house. The churros were really great for dessert.

Overall it was good. What's holding me back from saying I'd go again is the value. Everything was a few dollars too much. The food is good, though!

Our reservation was for 8:30 & from the moment we got there, we were reminded that kitchen will close at 9 & forced us to order everything at once. Didn't even offered us water. We ordered margaritas which 2/3 of glass was ice. Half an hour later terrible ice cold food arrived. We had to sent it back as it was not edible. My husband ordered ribs which half was burnt & the other half was nothing but fat. They never came back to find out if we needed anything or if everything was ok. No napkins & had to ask for it. Basically they threw us out at 9:30 on Saturday night. It seems as we just had to go there & pay them $200 & come back home hungry!
It was an unbelievable & shocking experience!

Great little patio out back, very cute decorations. Great service, kind and helpful. Real authentic Mexican food. Great sangria, amazing churros.

The food had very little flavour and the chef used frozen broccoli - this is extremely disappointing. This is reason enough never to visit Frida.

I really wanted to like this place, but alas, it was not meant to be. This was our (4 of us) first time here for the Summerlicious lunch menu, and I was not impressed. For the starter course I had the lentil soup. It was OK. The starter salad was sent back due to too many spoiled leaves. The Main was pulled flank steak folded in corn tortillas. This was flavourless and meat was chewy. The Mexican sandwich was anemic. Poor portioning as this was very thin.
The Churros, for desert were delicious.

We arrived on time for our reservation and asked if there were any tables on the patio. The staff's response was that there weren't at the time, but as soon as one opened up they'd let us know. In the meantime they sat us at a table near the hallway to the patio and we ordered some drinks.

One of our group asked for very little ice in her margarita, yet they forgot and filled the glass with ice anyway. When she received her replacement, it was rimmed with sugar, rather than salt. The margaritas are very good, when they're made correctly.

We continued patiently to await our table on the patio, but eventually decided to order (figuring that they'd simply bring our meals to the new table after we moved). Our appetizers ranged from very bland (inedible crispy pork skin with corn and shredded pork - but they totally forgot the guajilio sauce) to very odd (ceviche that was cooked over heat). The cold avocado soup was tasty.

Our mains arrived, but one of the beef tenderloin meals was severely undercooked. They eventually took it away and prepared a second one. But by the time the second one was delivered, all of the rest of us had finished our mains, so my wife ate alone).

While the quality of the food was not impressive, the service was deplorable. The table adjacent to ours had corn on the cob, but this wasn't on the menu. When one of us asked, we were informed that this was a side. When we asked if there were any other sides, the response was "yes". The staff was excessively quick to remove dishes, and a couple of times removed them even before we were done eating or drinking. Also, and this should be a note for every restaurant in the world - I hate it when the server removes some of the plates before everyone has finished eating.

We really wanted to like Frida, precisely because it is a small neighbourhood restaurant. Sorry to say that we won't be back.

Oh, and we never got to sit on the patio, despite seeing several people leave it.

I have been wanting to go to Frida for a while now. I had heard good things. It was horrible. The food was completely flavourless which is hard to imagine for a Mexican restaurant and the service was terrible. It doesn't even come close to comparison with Milagro or the Mexican restaurant in the Distillary. Mad Mexican' s guacamole and salsa is far superior.

Very good authentic Mexican food. I'm originally from Mexico. I ordered tortilla soup and Chiles Poblanos. The only problem is the Chiles Poblanos come with no sides.. You have to order that separate and you pay extra. This then makes your main dish very expensive. I love the food but it's just too expensive for me.

Went to check out Frida as part of the Summerlicious. Great find and I will be back! Not your run-of-the-mill Mexican and the ceviche,sangria and churros were out of this world! Look forward to coming back here :)
