The salsa and guac were great. The mole was great. I thought the carne aside tacos were hard to eat. The meat needed to be cut smaller or served on a plate so you could cut it. The blue corn tortillas were soft and warm and tasty. The mango habanero margarita was weak, but interesting. Overall, we liked it and would definitely go back.

Surprised that they rushed us out at 9:50 PM on a Saturday noting firmly “We’ve been closed since 9PM.”
Our dessert came out at 9:15???? The staff was very irritated that we weren’t ordering wine.

Frida's Bistro was CLOSED on Monday 23 for lunch, even though on the day before I had received a confirmation of my reservation for a table for 6 for that date and time. It was MOST embarrassing since we were celebrating a special occasion. I was most annoyed! Hence the poor review.

The food was fabulous, and the salmon to die for. The service however needs some work. Server was not very attentive, wait time for the food seems to be excessive, and we were required to ask for more water, coffee, etc. Overall, the food was worth the other inconveniences. Will go back again.

Great meal. Great ambiance. A bit of a mix up and delay of one entree but staff was attentive and took care of it quickly. Love this place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was not very crowded and the service was right on. The food was beautifully plated and just as tasty.

We went for an anniversary dinner. Overall this restaurant may have the best food that I have ever eaten. We had two excellent craft margaritas and an excellent mango/habanero limeaid. The entire menu is gourmet Hispanic and every single dish was excellent. The Calamar Azul (Blue Corn Dusted Calamari with Lemon & Roasted Jalapeño Aioli) was the best calamari that I have ever eaten, slightly crispy, still chewy, with just the right hint of heat. The Camarones Diego (Jumbo Shrimp in a Luscious Chipotle Cream Sauce Served with Rice & Cactus Salad) was creamy and moderately spicy and amazingly tasty. And don't leave without trying the Mole cake with black pepper ice cream. The service was prompt and considerate and overall the setting was intimate and romantic.

I like this place. I wouldn't recommend walking in the area after dark. Or maybe in daylight. Excellent food, fun atmosphere, service was a little tentative.

I'm a dedicated Yelp-checker. The Yelp reviews were quite low in December '16 and January '17 but picked up strongly in February and have been consistently high since. The impression was: some kind of internal problem intruded for a couple of months; the problem was fixed; and Frida was back on track. Our experience certainly would reflect that what-has-made-Frida-a-go-to-place is back in operation.l

I've been here numerous times through the years. Our dinner this time was late (7:30), but after sitting for 40 minutes, we were told the bass wasn't available; we reordered other entrees and finally were served at 9:00. The food was excellent, but the service sucked.

Good food but overpriced; hardly any tequila in my margaritas. I would have known cause I had 2, for $12 each. Flavors were delicious but minus the tequila they should have cost $5. Won't be going back.

Came to Frida's to celebrate a new job. What a treat! The flavors are superb--this is Mexican fine dining. Yet prices are reasonable. And the place has no pretentions. Whata gem of a restaurant in SLC. Treat yourself today!

Perfect summer dining for our anniversary, it was almost like we were back in Puerta Vallarta... minus the beach. The ceviche and meatballs in mole appetizers were amazing.

Fourth or fifth time we've been there, but it's been at least three years since last visit. We took some close friends for their birthdays. Great to know that the restaurant still has it. Our server, Blake, was perfectly attentive and accommodating without being intrusive. Food was delicious, modest corkage fee, overall a wonderful experience. The only reason I didn't give the ambiance five stars is that the chairs are not too comfortable for my arthritic back and bony bottom. Maybe that's not fair...

We typically love Freida's but this visit was actually disappointing. They changed their menu and we were so looking forward to some of our favorites and they were no longer available, but our biggest let down was the service. Typically the staff there is helpful, kind and very responsive. This waitress seemed like we put her out to even ask to order drinks, since it was not asked for when taking our orders. The cooks did an ok job but most of the filets were over done. Not our typical experience there.

This has been a favorite for years, however the homeless problem outside the restaurant will make me avoid it in the future. We literally had to step over a passed out man to walk from the car. Service was very slow, even for a busy Saturday night. May go back but I won't take guests and l avoid rush times.

Went for a business lunch. Everyone was very pleased with their food. The atmosphere was cool and it was quite enough for a conversation, but not too quiet as to feel awkward.

Not our best Frida experience. Our 16 and 18 year old we're meeting us there (each with a friend). They beat us there by a few minutes and gave them our reservation information. The hostess seated them in the back corner and told them they could not order anything until we arrived??? When we did join them, we ordered the chips and salsa trio as a starter and each of our entree selections. 10-15 minutes later the waiter informed us he had forgotten our chips and salsa but that our entrees wee ready so he'd bring them out. When he did, he said he'd bring the chips and salsa "on the house". Each of us were half way in to our entrees when another waitress finally brought the salsa trio and asked "do you want chips with your salsa"? Umm...yes.

Food was good. Dessert was yummy (although my husband never received the coffee he'd ordered with his). Service was frustrating and very slow tonight. We were also surprised to see gratuity had been added to our bill for a party of 6. Too bad...we would have tipped more otherwise. Hoping tonight was just an off night.

This restaurant was introduced to us by a friend. The location is interesting to say the least but the food, service and atmosphere are phenominal!!! The filet melted in our mouths and the pork belly was amazing. Definitely a place to try!

Starters were excellent, cornmeal dusted calamari with a very tasty aioli and a blue corn quesadilla with a sweet chutney and sour cream. Wonderful to share with others (there were four of us). Crab salad was beautiful and tasty but the sea bass, a signature dish was cooked well but was tasteless...very disappointing. Vegetarian poblano stack was pretty good but not very balanced...too many onions for my taste. I love this venue and will have more conversation before ordering next time. Beautiful place, fun and good for conversations and great service.

I will be back and would recommend to friends because I like the food & the patio is lovely but the service was terrible. I hadn't been there in awhile and hope this was a fluke. 1 1/2 hours for lunch - not sure why - our server didn't explain and because it was a business lunch we didn't make a big deal of it. Food took 45 minutes to arrive after ordering & they only brought out 3 entrees leaving one of us to wait an additional 5 minutes. Food looked like it had been sitting awhile. We also had to take our bill inside -to pay, the server never came back. The restaurant didn't seem to be crowded- tables empty-no one waiting for a seat. They comped our chips and salsa for the inconvenience.

I had not been back to this restaurant since 2011 when I used to live in SLC and frequented it; boy... has it gotten bad. The food quality was totally different and the inside of the restaurant has shifted from hip and arty to garage sale in New Mexico. The chicken mole meatballs were simultaneously mushy and dry, the "tiger" shrimp in dish were rubbery and small and these were both dishes that the waiter said were "favorites"

Would hate to try non-favorites!
