About Fresno

Veteran restaurateurs David Loewenberg and Michael Nolan teamed up to open Fresno in the spring of 2004. The New American menu emphasizes simple yet sophisticated preparations of local fare. Located on the edge of the village of East Hampton, the space is an airy, sky lit room featuring a wall of French doors overlooking a landscaped patio with a fountain where one may enjoy outdoor dining under a pergola. In the dining room, there is a long upholstered banquette along the opposite wall and a sleek zinc bar on the back wall anchors the space.

We absolutely love Fresno, definitely one of the very tops on our Hamptons list. Tina is the most gracious manager and Kyle as our waiter could not be better. We will be back over and over again!

Normally I love this restaurant but my last meal there was terrible largely due to awful service, which no one acknowledged. Our waitress acted like she’d rather be someplace else. Our food took a very long time to arrive. Something, our drinks perhaps, should have been on the house.

Fresno never disappoints. We brought our house guests and they enjoyed their meal immensely and the ambience was lovely. The service was excellent. We were seated immediately upon our arrival and dinner was served with just the right amount of time between courses.

My family and I have eaten at Fresno ten times over the last three years, and it gets better each time including the service, beverage service and the food. Always a great time!

Though a little off the beaten track, Fresno continues to be one of our go to Hamptons favorites. The food is always excellent - my fave is the Tilefish - and the specials are super fresh and locally sourced.

We were a twosome and have eaten at Fresno a number of times. The tables are very close together which turned out to be a problem throughout the meal. The fellow next to us did not shut up for a second. This became worse when he sent back the entree. He almost sent back the desert. We know because we could not miss even one word. The waitress was "so sweet" - pronounced swait. The tables are too close.

Went for dinner with my daughter. The menu was great and so well executed. Our server took good care of us. It was really a great dinner experience, but it always is at Fresno.

After considering this our "neighborhood restaurant" that's always reliable for 8-9 years, we were disappointed for the first time. To begin with, when the doors opened we were told by Tina that we could not have the table we always sit at for it is now "reserved" for another couple who "come in every week" (and they didn't arrive until 40 minutes after us)! Fresno has now succumbed to the "Hamptons" seating syndrome? (This is not Nick & Toni's)

The prices are up this year and the wine offerings, while still extensive, have been "upgraded" along with the bottle/glass price offerings. The "early dining" menu with the additional surcharge for most items does not make it the value it used to be. We have always loved the frites. Now they are thin fries that were so hard they tasted like they had been "rewarmed".

Chef Grechen always has inventive ideas for soups that are delicious and not to be missed.

Three times (both busboys and our waitress) came to see if we were done and could they take our plates within 45 minutes of sitting down!! Michael needs to make sure his new staff understands that when dining is complete, look for the knife and fork in it's "signal" position. Certainly not when a "guest" still has a half full plate, is chewing and has a full glass of wine (not even if everyone else at the table is finished)!

I'm so disappointed that this is a necessary "share", but a true reflection of our experience on 8/19. We've owned our home in EH for 39 years and know what August means...tired chefs and staffs dealing with crowds and sometimes rude patrons. Still, a smile, cordial welcome and "relaxed" dining experience" should come as part of the "bill" we are paying. We walked out feeling we had lost our neighborhood "go to" (at least during the summer).

I was so looking forward to a trip to Fresno-having it highly recommended and also because of it's reputation. However, our experience (Saturday night, group of 5) was less than good. My food was severely under cooked (rare Salmon, asked for medium-well) and my friend's chicken was terribly dry. The night before we ate at The Maidstone and the food was exceptionally better. Go there instead.

I have eaten here many times over the past couple of years and always found the food to be solid. Unfortunately, during the summer the service level drops off dramatically. Most of the mistake are the fault of the restaurant's management. The Summer help is just not train in the basic skills it takes to make dining a pleasure. Drink orders, correct silverware, cleaning the table are just some of the fundamentals which the staff lacks. Yes, the staff corrects their mistakes but it makes for a long uneven evening.

We usually sit out in the garden, but this time we were indoors and it was very noisy. The menu is varied and the prix fixe is a good deal. I was, however, disappointed in the pate, so loose it was almost goopy. Everything else, however, was good and fresh.

My first impression of Fresno was hard to forget: the smell of my frat house on a Sunday morning. Not pretty. We walked in and the bar area smelled like stale beer. Yuck. The people were nice and the service was good. The salad was truly terrible; old browned lettuce soggy in dressing. The hummus was weird. Cilantro in hummus? The mains were very good: tilefish, short rib pasta and chicken. They were far better than the apps. The decor and smell just were so tacky that we couldn't really enjoy the meal.

We had dinner at Fresno before going to Guild Hall for a performance of musicians from the New York Philharmonic. We had the prix fixe dinner, which was a very good deal. I ordered the salmon as my main course and it was done perfectly.

In a landscape known as the Hamptons Scene, this quiet gem stands out as a perennial favorite for good food at reasonable prices featuring tasty but believable preparation. Local fresh fish dots the menu, deserts are luscious and the wine list is both believable and largely affordable. The staff is typically attentive without being overbearing or presumptuous. It's noisy in season, even to the point of being crowded, but luckily that only lasts for a few short months. The rest of the year it is a delight.

Fresno - I have dined since it opened. It's a favourite in the Hamptons. Creative menu serving the expected, unexpected. Love the ease of parking, the friendly welcome, the cocktails are decent and always the service.
Thanks.

Nice place, ate in a covered outdoor area, immediate seating with very attentive wait staff. Calamari , new england clam chowder , nice bread for dipping. All of the main courses were fabulous. I had the special veal chop, we had hanger steak ,and salmon. Tasted all, awesome. The bill for 4, with apps, 8 drinks, meals, and 2 desserts with 4 Irish coffees came to about 100 a person tip included. It was a nice dinner out. Casual nice atmosphere. Would return
