Fresco by Scotto Ratings and Reviews
Our dining experience was wonderful. We were greeted in a friendly, professional manner by Rosanne's Mom.
We explained that we had theater tickets and were short on time. She immediately requested a server to help us out and be sure we were attended too promptly. Food was excellent and we will definitely return, especially when we can spend more time and enjoy the pleasantry of the whole establishment.
This was our second visit ... love, love, love this restaurant !!! The atmosphere, the food and on both occasions our server was simply outstanding. There are so many food items that I wanted to try that I know this restaurant will become a staple for my husband and I every time we visit RI. There are hundreds and hundreds of restaurants in NYC - I'll always try a new one for my 1st night in the city and will definitely visit Fresco by Scotto for a 2nd night !!!
I've gone to Fresco's since 2005 and have never been disappointed in the food, ambiance and service. We took my daughter and her family after the Christmas holiday (with her 14 month old toddler) and enjoyed a comfortable and tasty dinner. The portions at lunch are large enough for dinner. Everything was prepared and served properly with an old world grace. The cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe is a wonderfully hearty dish, as is the papardelle with duck ragout.
Fresco was just OK, prices are a bit high. The waiter up-sold us on the Fresco bread, which was meh, the regular free bread is fine. The $69 bottle of Malbec was good, but is also available at the liquor store for 19.49. The waiter continually poured the wine which is both nice and annoying at the same time.
The pizza, burger and other kid, teenager friendly food is way overpriced and not very kid friendly.
Overall, will not be returning. If you want great Italian food in a Tuscan style environment and the aromas of goodness surrounding you, go to Cielo at the Mayfair hotel on 49th between 7th and 8th.
The food was presented well, service was top notch, the foood was good, portions were good, the food it self was not so spectacular but definitely good to the price point, the deserts on the other hand did stand out from the crowd with the extra favors on the place, excellent. My overall all is 4 out of 5 stars.
We decided to go and see the tree at Rockerfeller center on xmas eve and wanted to eat close by. We chose Fresco by Scotto because they were near RC and had good reviews. They had a prefixed menu for Christmas Eve and the choices were excellent. We all had delicious meals and a fantastic time.
Love this restaurant.
Only minor negatives are that spacing is a little tight (typical for NYC, obviously), and menu is somewhat limited.
Other than those minor issues, this is one of my favorite Italian restaurants anywhere. I've gone with just my husband, and with our 3 teenagers. They aren't particularly fussy eaters, but know what they like. No issues finding an amazing dish or two we all love, trade bites of, and think about re-creating at home. Different but not weird or funky. The freshest pasta, which many restaurants can't seem to give solid flavor. Every appetizer and meal here is unique, served in a generous but not ridiculous portion size, and is, most importantly, extremely flavorful - no add'l salt or pepper, etc (and I am definitely an add-salt-to-everything person) needed. Don't even need to add cheese - but who doesn't love an extra heap of freshly-made, freshly-grated, full-flavored cheese? Desserts are worth saving room for. We compare tiramisu from wherever we go; this is at the top of our list. We like to try a different place whenever we get to the city, but Fresco is one we'll head back to repeatedly.
I unfortunately somehow forgot the name of our waitress, who served us both visits - but she was a true NY-style professional. Fantastic at her job, as was all staff we encountered.
We are quite familiar with the restaurants in Mid-Town Manhattan and the Upper East Side. Fresco is one of our favorites. We have been there several times, most recently Sat. Dec. 23, but would not be considered "regulars". The place was very busy, but despite this, we were greeted heartily by one of the family owners and were seated right away. The service was prompt, courteous and attentive, but not intrusive, and we were never rushed. The meals were all excellent, and the wines were as ordered, including the vintages on the wine list (which is often not the case in many restaurants). A fine, reliable Italian restaurant in the heart of Mid-Town.
The meal was very disappointing. The pizza appetizer was so bad. My salmon which i ate 1/3 of was bland. My wife had the pasta with duck which was over spiced. To hear my clients say the meal was "ok" was a huge disappointment. This was their 1st trip to NYC. I was trying to impress and this didnt do it.
Restaurant was nice, menu was small and limited. The waiter was not very accommodating at all. My mother has a garlic sensitivity which the waiter seemed unhappy about and told there was only one thing on the menu she could eat which she really didn’t want. This is the first restaurant we have been to where we were told we could not have a plate prepared without garlic which leads me to believe the food is pre-cooked and not “Fresco”
Scotto family always welcoming , staff go out of their way to please , attentive service The pasta, ravioli of the day never disappoints. Lunch or Dinner the restaurant is always busy, usually a few political leaders dining an often television personalities. Go ,enjoy ,
This is our 3rd year in a row returning to Fresco by Scotto in our annual trek to NYC for the Rockettes. It was recommended by a local and I couldn't be happier. Excellent food, good variety. Pastas are cooked perfectly and with a good diversity of options. Intimate but energetic space, a bit loud but we love it. I received excellent wine recommendations from our server. We will surely be returning.
