We live in an age of "fast casual" eating and fusion restaurants designed for hipness so places like Fresco too easily get overlooked. It's an elegant but friendly white-tablecloth restaurant devoted to well-executed food and good service. It's a little expensive, but not out of line for Midtown -- and frankly, it costs money for the kind of staffing that makes a comfortable experience possible. Quiet but not hushed, high-quality food but not a bit pretentious, attentive service but well short of fawning. A lovely evening out.
The Frito Misto , the rack of lamb and the pasta were very good. The branzino was not good. The fish was not fresh.
We had a ridiculously overpriced meal at this restaurant. The food was mediocre at best. Our child’s penne noodles with butter was $18 and was literally 17 noodles. Their house wine was $36 a glass. Just outrageous. I don’t mind spending money on a meal but this was excessive in every sense of the word. Unless you enjoy completely wasting your money, I wouldn’t recommend.
Dined at restaurant prior to theater. Food and service were outstanding. The wine selection was extensive however price per glass was unreasonable.
Elegant, upscale class with a warm welcome from Anthony Scotto himself. Wait service very friendly and make you feel at home!
we were there on Valentine’s day and the family was there greeting g everyone . Food was excellent - one of our all tome favorites!
Extremely over-priced average Italian food. $235 (before tip) for two crab cake apps, two pasta dishes and one glass of wine
Expensive but very good
The food was delicious!
our waiter was great. Service was not rushed. Great menu variety.
What a real treat to go to Fresco. I hadn't been there in years since i stopped working in midtown, and it was as good as I remembered. We went for an early dinner before the magic show at the Palace Lotte hotel and they accommodated our fast timeline. The appetizers are meant to be shared by two people, but we shared three ways and there was plenty, generous portions. Their home made pasta and meat sauce was delicious, the risotto and the chicken milanese was a really nice thick cut of chicken.
Nice size drinks too - like that alot!
High scale and relaxed at the same time, what really stands out is the cuisine of the new executive chef Alessandro Pendinelli who graced our table with his presence when we had questions on the preparation of some of the dishes.
A little advice to start: don't try use a fork for the he zucchini and potato chips with gorgonzola ;-) you must use your hands! ;-)
The very tasty Cannellini pure was the ideal accompaniment for the various breads in the basket while waiting for the appetizer of fried calamari, which were light and crunchy, perfect, just as they should be.
We were intrigued by the Pappardelle of kamut and wholewheat flour with lamb ragout, then we were dazzled by the Rack of lamb in a fig reduction sauce, perfectly coupled with the cauliflower pure,
and were amazed by the Seared tuna that was literally melting in our mouth.
Desserts looked very seductive even though we were quite full, so we tried Bomboloni with cream and caramel dips, and the Apple crisp, and we were not disappointed.
The waiter Dennis contributed to the memorable experience with his professionalism and savoir faire.
Great place for business meals but too stuffy for an everyday meal. Too pricey when you don’t have a business account as well. The food however was quite good.
This is really one of Mid-town’s jewels. Fantastic!
Always the very best at Fresco. My fave place for special friends.
I wish I could give it zero stars. We had a 9:30 reservation, when we sat the server rushed us to order because the kitchen was closing. (The restaurant closes at 11) we ordered an app and when We went to order dinner, he told me I wouldn't be hungry for an entree. (How does he know!? And what if I wanted leftovers!?) he came back and then decided to split chicken parm -- a special of the night at an Italian restaurant . The manager then came out ten minutes later and told us they were out of chicken parm!? WHAT? I was quite confused considering chicken parm is literally chicken, cheese, and sauce!? I then chose a backup and he said they were out of chicken!? The manager didn't offer to fix it or suggestions. Then, we watched the table next to us order food and get it! After we had our app (prosciutto and cheeses-- which could have been used on the chicken parm) he had the audacity to ask us if we wanted a dessert! Honestly what a shame because the reviews were really good and we were excited to eat here, but completely ruined a date night for us; he also ruined what would have been over a 300 dollar check. His loss in the end.
The food was fantastic!! Our server Alan gave great suggestions and he went above and beyond taking care of us
Fabulous meal, friendly and courteous staff. We will definitely be back!!!
Great food and friendly, yet professional service. The restaurant on this Friday night was a bit noisy, but overall wonderful experience.
I hadn’t eaten there in a year and boy, has the quality come down significantly. I ordered the tuna steak and was underwhelmed by the dish. It was even served cold (supposed to be seared), which made me think maybe it was frozen and not fresh. My companion ordered a pasta and also was underwhelmed. With just two glasses of one and one dish, the bill came out to $90 per person. This is insane. The quality doesn’t match the pricing. I’m definitely not visiting again.
Exceptionally poor experience tonight. Come here whenever I am in NY and usually consistently good. Ordered Salmon and asked for it medium. Came extremely rare. Asked for it to be redone they literally looked like they cut 2 ends of the one I sent back and sent it out again. Very poor quality.
Great for business lunch, a wide variety of menu options
Ridiculously overpriced. Typical business lunch place in midtown. Food is decent but not outstanding
Great time. Went for my mom’s 55th birthday. Will definitely be back in the future
Yes I would recommend Fresco for special occasions ( it is quite pricey ). The food was delish, atmosphere lovely and service great.
Went with my 16 year old granddaughter and our waiter, Dennis, could not have been nicer or more professional.
Very good food and service was fantastic. Had the most charming Italian waitress.
Ridiculously over priced for just ok food,
ex. $38 for spaghetti and 2 meatballs , $25 for a starter caesar salad. I’ve should have known when no prices we listed on their website.
This is not a reflection of the service we received. Everyone was very attentive.
Overpriced Italian food. Was expecting out of the ordinary food however very disappointed. The service and staff were very attentive and friendly but not worth the trip. Sadly, won’t recommend .
Great experience. Very good drinks. Service was exceptional. Would definitely recommend.
We eat there every time we visit the city.
Always a fantastic, delicious meal with impeccable service!
We had an extraordinary experience at Fresco. We arrived 1 hour late and the welcomed us with open arms. Our flight was late in arriving, we contacted Fresco, and they couldn’t have been nicer. We arrived to the most delightful waiter, Alan. There were three of us. We looked at the wine list which was overwhelming. We asked for assistance from the Sommelier and were concerned he would suggest an extremely expensive wine. He didn’t! He suggested a delightful wine for under $100.
The pasta was as good as it gets! All three of us agreed. Service excellent. Pricey, but worth it.
We waited 20 minutes for our reservations, and tables were open. Food was good but not cheap. I expected a better all around experience for the price.
One of my favorite places to go. In addition to all of the above the staff is warm and welcoming
Food was delicious and our waiter was great. The sommelier stood over my shoulder once the wine menu was dropped off, making many unsoliciated suggestions. He did not leave, even though I mentioned that I will look the menu over for a selection. This and the prices are a little over the top.
Fresco by Scotto has never changed. Genuine family greeting upon arrival, immediate seating if desired, while one waits for friends to arrive. Great attention from seating thru ordering thru terrific menu, tasteful and of course closing with desert. Highly recommend. Just great.
