Fresca is a casual restaurant offering a creative rendition of Peruvian cuisine, served in cozy surroundings. The restaurant's strongest draw is its Cerviche menu, which features a delicious array of items. Pair the Langosta Coco with the Cerviche Elementos for an explosion of flavor. Nothing special about the food at this place. The guys don't even know how to cook fries - served uncooked despite being returned once. The fish in the ceviche didn't seem very fresh. For a Peruvian place, the brunch menu seemed more like regular American fare - eggs, potatoes, and steak sandwiches. There were very few tables occupied - should have realized that the place was not really popular with the locals at Noe.
Nelson and I had a wonderful dinner but we were unaware of the change in menu, prixfixe. We thought we would not be happy but the service and ambiance really helped change that thought. I was not happy with where we were seated in a small area. My boyfriend is a bit of a large man and he could not easily get in or out of his seat. He did not want to disturb adjacent tables. Overall it was a pleasant night.
Fresca's is a great place for lunch in Noe Valley! The interior wood paneling has a real calming effect and the efficient and friendly staff make dining a pleasure! Having a soup or salad included in the meal is a real plus. We had the beet soup with dabs of cream on top and it was out of this world! The Peruvian pulled chicken dish with both rice and potatoes was delicious and definitely generously served. Unfortunately, we were stuffed and no room left for dessert. I can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff and their constant attention to our needs. It is a great place to take out of town guests or locals who have not discovered this super dining place!
this place has changed a lot . I have been going to fresca for many years but the prices have been increased more and more . for example lomo saltado is $23 but if you would like " a lo pobre" style, which is a fried egg on top of the white rice , then is $28 , so $5.00 more for an egg ????? that's outrageously ridiculous.
second , my friend order the mahi mahi and risotto $27.00 he asked if it could be only with salad and a side of dressing because the risotto has some spicy ingredients , . Could you believe that plate look like a package of green salad tossed on that plate, the mahi mahi pretty small !!! when we looked at the check , why dis they bill us $27 for the mahi mahi? well , I asked our waiter why to bill $27 just for a filet of mahi mahi and a bunch of green leaves ? . "he said " the price is for the mahi mahi , the rest is just rice , you know rice " .....really just rice !!!!!!

Appetizers were terrible, the crayfish pasta had some mushrooms but only very few crayfish and the pasta was overlooked. The oysters very small and tasteless and lacked proper condiments. The "crab cakes" had a lot of dough but the crab was conspicuously absent. The baby back ribs had probably been good the day they were cooked but as reheated they had become dry, the barbecue sauce put on covered the dryness and was tasty as from the squeezable bottle. The service made it a pleasant evening but don't go here for the food.
Service depends on who is serving. The lady that night was a bit slow. We brought our wine, two bottles, put it in ice. did not get glasses until some time passed and we had to ask. Actually did not receive much attention for the first 15 min. Had to flag down the server to ask for glassware and to order the starters. The food was good. Muscles and Branzino fish were very good. Oh, and $18.00 per bottle cork charge. In most places they charge for one and the last place it was $15.00. I know its not a lot and its ok in some touristy neighborhood. It's just this is our neighborhood place, we always hope for something extra to keep us coming back. Give a little to get a lot. And we do go there a lot. All in all we had a good time.
My husband and I come here a lot. Our favorite dish "aji de gallina" used to so good. This time the chicken was not shredded into small pieces, instead it's in large pieces tough and dry. The soup of the day; chicken and spinach soup, the soup was tasty but the chucks of chicken was again tough and dry.
It was a Monday lunch, we hope it was just the chef on Monday. The service was good.
I took my wife here for her birthday and we couldn't have been more happier. The food was terrific. We started off with an Antichuchu Mushroom on a skewer that tasted incredible, with a great dipping sauce, some grilled corn, and tender yuca. Mmm good. Then we shared the paella which was just fantastic. I had paella made by a chef this past summer and it couldn't even touch the flavor of this paella. The best part was the waiter who patiently shared his answers to all our questions, and even giving us some background on Peru, the people, the food, and the culture. That was a great bonus. Kudos to the proprietors!
Fresca specializes in Peruvian cuisine. We discovered the one on Fillmore several years ago and then found this one on 24th. We have been here several times. The food is always good and the wait-staff is always friendly and courteous. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to break away from the standard fares of Mexican, Italian, Chinese or Thai.
The ceviche sampler was simply amazing- a great way to start out for 2 people. We also each had 2 different cocktails that were not our normal fare and we really each enjoyed the drinks as well. Our next course was the causa criolla, also very tasty and we finished our main meal with an order of beef hearts on a skewer(anticuchos). It sounds intimidating but the flavor was excellent. Our server was very friendly and paid just the right amount of attention to us. The total cost of the meal including 2 drinks each and desert was $120 and well worth it!
The dishes are well presented and delicious, the ceviches are served on small portions though, as well as the Anticuchos. The service was great and friendly, and love the ambiance.
We had 2 appetizers and 2 entrees, and they were both excellent.
I recommend the traditional Pisco Sours.
It's always guarantee of good food at Fresca. Some dishes have cream in it if you don't like it go for the grilled stuff or ceviche. All very fresh and well prepared. Peruvian cuisine is a star and you will not be disappointed. The wine list is always carefully chosen. Wines from the Mediterranean and South America. I had a delicious Malbec. Have not tried deserts but Peruvians are known for their sweet stuff. Next time maybe.
This was the first place we ate when moving to San Francisco almost 5 years ago. I have since gone back for happy hour (great discounted drinks and apps) lunch (kid friendly when meeting other people with kids) and special dinners. It never disappoints, there's something mild, spicy, vegetarian and all around delicious. I have also never had a bad service experience here and only once had a mediocre drink (the usual bartender wasn't there). Go eat!
We are a family and do return here. We will continue to go here. However, when you're with hungry kids it's nice to get them food fast. They did that, however they forgot about us and we had to wait and wait for the waiter and then wait some more for our food.
A friend and I recently had lunch at Fresca. The ambience was very nice and much more roomy than the Fillmore location. We both had rotisserie chicken, a new entree for me, and it was spectacular, well prepared and easily shared by two.
The server was very friendly and informative.
Really appreciated our server Annie for letting us just go slow on a Saturday afternoon. Very accommodating with tasting the wine list since many of the wines were not familiar to us. Highlights were the shrimp ceviche, the steak and the mussels. Will return.
Always quality. Menu changes but reflects Peruvian tradition with new approaches / presentation. It is obvious that this is a family business. Founder' daughter was there greeting patrons.
A must for all. Noe location my favorite. Have visited all others. Would dine at any of them.
