Great restaurant, average service. This is my daughters favorite vegetarian restaurant. Not great for my picky 11-year-old son.
Our food was terrific. The wine was superb. The waitsaff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The desserts were decadent.
Fantastic, affordable food. Wonderful, friendly service!
Went to French Meadow for a date with my fiance. We had a reservation for two made via OpenTable. When we informed the hostperson that we had a reservation, they did not ask my name. There was a table with a sign saying "reserved," which I assumed may have been intended for us. Instead, the host (one of three people escorting guests to their table) took us to a booth near the front windows which was fine by us. However, another guest informed another hostperson that he was under the impression that table had just been cleaned for he and his associate, so a third hostperson escorted us to a third table that was also fine with us. The entire seating process was confusing and disorganized seeming, and the fact that we had a reservation seemed irrelevant. In spite of that odd opening to our night at French Meadow, we had an amazing evening with great food and drink and a great waitress. I couldn't recommend this restaurant more, however just be aware that a reservation may not be particularly helpful. There was enough available tables on a Friday evening at 6:45p that I expect the wait is usually manageable.
Great neighborhood find with awesome gluten free options - we ate their twice during our stay.
Our server was a disaster in the sense that his people skills were terrible - he never made eye contact and got a few things wrong - I suspect he was high, but everything else was great - the food is wonderful.
Tasty meal, great black bean burger and butternut squash ravioli! (Don't ever take these off your menu!) We love eating here and this visit was on a beautiful day so we got to try the patio... highly recommend. Love that they offer good food for "normal" eaters and for vegans and vegetarians!
I was visiting MN from Portland, OR and so excited to find a place with vegan options after spending several days in a rural area where everything was meat and cheese. I ended up not impressed with this place, especially for what it cost. The tempeh was bitter (maybe they don’t boil it first) and with tempeh being in everything I ate, the meal wasn’t great. My husband isn’t vegan so he got a cheese plate for an appetizer and the cheeses were all just different types of cheddar. My son got the ravioli and it was overloaded with sage—there was no other flavor to it but sage. Everything was edible and not gross but it also just wasn’t all the good and very expensive.
One of my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis! French Meadows is great for food allergies and have a ton of tasty options for everyone. My 2 favorite items on the menu are the Zen Salad and Turkey Burger. Don't skip dessert- it's totally worth it!
I like this place but it was perhaps a little under-staffed on a Friday night. Seating and serving took a long time and we had a reservation. We were first seated in the very back room with a large, noisy group. When I discovered, while waiting for our food, that the booths near the bar had cleared out, we asked our server if we could move. That improved our dinner a lot. I liked my entree, the healing bowl, very much but my husband said the fish tacos were so-so. I would certainly like to come back and try other items on the menu.
Great place to meet everyone expectations! Drinks, organic, vegan, small plates and dessert! Lots to choose from - I had the vegan tostada- red beans, tempeh, onions, guacamole, lettuce, vegan cheese - AMAZING!!!
First time there and poor service overall; changed waiters on us and second person seemed uninterested. We waited a full hour for our food (which was very good). We flagged down the manager and told him we had been waiting for an hour and our food arrived almost immediately afterward. He comped us for our drinks, which was nice and lowered our bill quite a bit. Nonetheless, we probably won't go back soon.
Good food, I like that there were plenty of vegan options.
Fantastic food with many options!! Looking forward to enjoying this establishment in the near future!!
I would like to thank the Bartender for not charging us for my drink. He forgot about it but eventually He made it and brought it himself, apologized and removed it from our bill. It was not necessary but we really appreciate. Food was very good . We will come again.
A wonderful evening spent enjoying the peaceful ambiance and delicious food.
Disappointed with our eating experience.
Waitress seemed frazzled. Kid’s menu offered grilled cheese sandwich and Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese had definite bacon taste and we specifically asked “no bacon”!!
Service was extremely slow and restaurant was not that busy. Waitress didn’t offer any refund on meal.
We hadn’t been here in a long time and probably won’t return!
I made a reservation got a great booth that almost seemed like it was soundproof . My sisters and I absolutely loved our burgers. Great place.
The waitress was horrible! I must have waited 15 minutes to get my water glass re-filled and the restaurant was not even half full. Plus she kept asking me every time she came to the table if I wanted something to drink other than water. Lady, I just want water and stop pointing out that I’m the only one not drinking!!!!
I love French Meadow for birthdays, anniversaries, and date night. Delicious vegan fare.
Definitely for the food. Always appreciate the farm.to.table concept.
Service was sketchy and confusing; things listed on the menu not available and server had to keep going back to check.
Super long wait for food, requests for bread basket in the interim came with a $3 upcharge per basket.
Price seemed reasonable but not sure I'd go again.
French Meadow is always a lovely treat. Servers are consistently friendly and conversational, food simple yet refined and tasty, and an ambiance perfect for any occasion.
Friends really enjoyed their cocktails and we all enjoyed our meals. The vegetarians loved their tempeh tacos - said several times how "delicious" they were. The meat eaters thought their burgers/fries were very good and the chicken with brussel sprouts and potatoes was very good as well.
Service was poor and the food order was not delivered correctly.
Always delicious. Love that there are so many options for people with food allergies. Discovered this place when we couldn't have dairy, feel in love with it, e can how have dairy and still drive the hour there for amazing food that is seasonal and locally sourced.
Food was excellent, but the service was odd—waiter was unfamiliar with the menu; my salad was missing 1/2 of the listed ingredients (they were brought out separately after I asked); and the waiter spilled a glass of water all over our table when serving, but was very slow to help us clean it up.
The almond encrusted walleye was wonderful! Served over garlic mashed potatoes, broccolini and pesto. It was melt in your mouth. Highly recommend it!
Awesome cafe/bakery waitress was knowledgeable and awesome.
I was in Minneapolis for business and was looking for a restaurant with a vegetarian menu. I was not disappointed. The food was unique and delicious.
Who’s on first?
Went for a casual dinner. More than a half hour before a wait person came to ask if another person helped us. 45 minutes before a drink order. They never came until asked for again. One was wrong. Blamed it on the new bartender. Then never took our food order. Again needed to flag someone down. The hostess, the manager and the wait person apologized many times, but service never improved. Offered free dessert, but we were not interested, we just wanted our dinner. When the bill came, they removed the drinks (one of which was the wrong in the first place.) Then the wait person showed the before and after of what was charged and made a big deal about the time drinks were ordered and when they were served as if to argue with us about their bad service, ignoring the 45 minute wait for an order. Food was just OK. Disappointed because breakfast and lunch experience has been quite different. It appeared that other tables were being served. We are not going back. There are too many good places in this city to bother.
Very good food at reasonable prices. Excellent dessert too.
This was the perfect place to bring a friend from out of town who has diet issues. The ambiance was soothing, beautiful, and classy, we could hear each other and be heard. The food was wonderful with dozens of options for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan.
Great vegan/vegetarian/allergen choices, including desserts! Everything was hot and tasted delicious!
It was loud and dark in the back room and the server was slow. Would try it one more time to see if service was better.
Our server was very cold and unfriendly which made for an awkward dining experience.
It started out well but after we ordered our service was poor. Our server was also the bartender which may have been because we were seated before 5 pm but she was very distracted. We had to ask for drink refills and ask her to Take away some soup cups we were done with. It also took almost 50 mins for our food to come out. It was almost as if our order wasn't placed right away. The food was okay but the bison burger we had was more well than medium so it was dry. First time experience there and I'm not sure if we will try it again.
Eating outside was wonderful! We were tucked away from the wind in a cute little area with lights strung up with wind chimes and music.
Meals were over salted and the solution for this was to comp a desert...um no. Was excited to enjoy organic fresh food and it was ruined by a heavy handed chef and awkward waitress. Won’t be back, sadly.
All of the above. The restaurant was great. However, Open Table screwed up and everyone who made reservations on Open Table did not get communicated to the restaurant. The restaurant did their best to accommodate us and we got seated in a reasonable time and were served very well.
Great drinks and food was decent. I’ve had far better experiences with the St. Paul location. For Minneapolis.. It took far too long to receive our meals and the place wasn’t even that busy. We came for a late afternoon reservation and understandably the staff was frazzled after the lunch hours, I’m sure. However, they never took a second to breathe and our server was a mess but easily forgiven. Our table and another had a 1.5 hour wait while tables seated well after us had already eaten. Lost tickets are one thing but then the staff didn’t really check on us after we asked - just could’ve been handled better instead of hiding from the mistakes. The drinks were great - nice bar. Watery and very, very late food.
Horrible horrible ruin to mothers day. Their computer system and open table was down. Got us in 30 min after our reservation only to tell us it was an hour more back up to get any food in the kitchen. Come on! Horrible. And no apology, gift certificate, comp food offered (aka customer service 101). So bummed.
