Food and atmosphere was good, but service was lacking. We arrived and I told them we had a reservation and they looked panicked. They seated us while we waited for the rest of our guests to arrive. The rest of our party then got seated at a different table and it took calling them to realize this. The hostess and wait staff seemed very confused and we got tossed around to a few different waitresses. I would go back hoping for a less confusing experience.

The food in the dining room at French Meadow is excellent, but don't visit during a busy weekend. The service was inexcusably slow, even factoring in the extra time it takes to craft such delicious food. We weren't waited on at all for 15 minutes. Our drink order took 30 minutes to arrive and our entrees took over an hour. (And during that hour, no one was asked if they wanted another drink.) On top of that, the wait staff forgot parts of the order entirely and failed to deliver all of the dishes at the same time. Just.

Too bad. It's a beautiful space. But by the end, I was embarrassed to have brought together a small group at 6:30 to spend 2.5 hours on a one course meal.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend who frequents this place. Unfortunately we visited on a night where something must have gone terribly wrong with the reservations system and dining room management. Since our friend who recommended the place was there with us, I know this was not a typical night. We had a reservation but when the walk-ins in front of us were seated first I was disappointed. When we finally had a table I was a little annoyed that the "high top" option I selected in open table wasn't acknowledged (but, this was not a deal breaker). Then things just continued to go downhill. We waited 10+ minutes and no one came to our table (we had to go find someone). The new guy (started 90 minutes before we arrived) brought us waters and wasn't prepared to take drink orders...but he ultimately did because our server still had not visited our table and it was going on 25 minutes. Finally we got our drinks...actually it was just one drink, the other two were out of stock so 2 people in our group of 3 had to revisit the menu (it's okay, this stuff happens). We finally got all the drinks and since our server still had not been found, the "manager" had the water guy take our order. It took well over an hour to get our food (which was delicious). What made this the most uncomfortable dining experience I've had in a while was when the "manager" came by to tell us a sad story about how the chef quit and something about someone's mom having cancer...went on to tell us all about how the dining room manager is new but has a phenomenal resume and how lucky they are to have her. I know she was trying to explain the inexcusable, but it was handled poorly. It's too bad we were only in Minneapolis less than two days and chose to visit this restaurant when they were having a rough night (major understatement) because I'm sure this is normally quite a lovely restaurant. I'd still like to acknowledge the kitchen staff for preparing a delicious meal for us.

Our reservation was for 7:30PM. When we arrived we were told that they had over booked and we would have to wait for a table and would not get the booth we had requested.
Our waiting time was only about 15 minutes when we were seated at a small table between two other couples. Not the night out I was expecting but the food was excellent.

We'd booked a reservation at Bluestem for Valentine's Day dinner, and when we arrived, the host told us "We overbooked for tonight, so it'll be about a 30-45-minute wait." No apology, no offer to take a drink order while we waited, just "I'll show you to the waiting area." There were a lot of embarrassed, uncomfortable-looking couples waiting there--so many that we doubted we'd get in before an hour after our reserved time. We were too hungry to wait that long, so we left. I'm still stunned at Bluestem's rudeness, leaving customers in the lurch like that on a special occasion and not having the decency to make any effort toward making it up to them. If you read other review sites, you'll see that the service at Bluestem is hit or miss. For me, their food is not worth rolling the dice again.

Great service! Teen daughter trying out vegetarian diet currently and she was disappointed in her veggie burger meal. I had salmon curry and that special was excellent! The sauce was amazing. Everyone else thought their meals were okay. Would love to come in to town to try the breakfast menu.
