Nice outside seating. Great food.
Wonderful food and great service.
Best sidecar I've had in a decade! Everything we ate was excellent. Soup, salmon, beef rib, desserts, all great.
Filling good social distancing practices. I did think it was weird they wouldn’t give us glasses of water but instead charged for bottled water. We also ordered soda and those soda cups were taken and refilled when empty.
One of the best tomato soups I’ve ever had! They were handling COVID cleaning and spacing expectations really well.
Please be warned they will not give you tap water. You have to buy a large glass bottle of water or you will be very thirsty. Ridiculous. Otherwise the food is very good! Just so dumb about the water and kind of a deal breaker to come here again.
The cauliflower wings are amazing. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything here.
Had a nice breakfast here. Avocado toast was delicious as was the eggs benny. Server was great! we were there early in the morning. Everything is set up well for social distancing etc.
Great ambiance and food!
We will go back again soon!
I love the quality and freshness of the food at French Meadow. I do suggest that the website be updated to reflect the streamlined menu, as that affected my choice.
The Wild Acres Turkey burger was soooo delicious. Super yummy. Hand-cut French fries were amazing--the best I've had years. The side salad was fresh and delicious--the greens were crisp and plump, and the lemon vinaigrette was so simple, clean, and yummy. My friend's vegan Cesar Salad was strange...but overall a very good visit.
A great place for a gluten free, dairy free meal.
The server was excellent, food was great as always. They had it set up nicely to dine outdoors during Covid, made my reservation online!
A lovely menu - great choices and superb food. Awesome variety of drinks too. Attentive, capable, friendly server. Will def return
The service the last few times here has been terrible.
Visit 1.) The waitress didn’t put our order in then let us know an hour later after we asked multiple times if the food was coming.
Visit 2.) self service (which is fine) but no water available. The guy taking orders did not have his nose covered with his mask. Was not able to answer basic questions.
Visit 3.) picking up takeout. Saw my order on the counter. Tried (same guy as mentioned above, again not covering his nose with his mask) but he did not acknowledge me. Staff was running around not paying attention to anyone in line.
I get it - we’re all doing the best we can. But this is just sloppy.
Our favorite breakfast place. The outdoor seating was very pleasant.
We usually love coming here so maybe it was an off day for them. Food was tasteless and salmon was full of bones. I understand fish have bones, but you should not be pulling mouthfuls of bones out constantly. Service wasn’t great this time either. I don’t need you to cater to me hand and foot, but don’t walk away when I’m talking to you and forget about us until you give us the check.
We had reservations and got seated outside right away. Prompt attention and service was good. I ordered a Cobb salad which was a lot of lettuce, bacon, olives and a lot of sliced turkey and a halved hard boiled egg . Portions were generous, but as a salad... not very interesting and I wouldn't order it again. Salty Dog cocktail came with a sugar, not salted rim. Server immediately brought another one when we brought it to her attention. Overall, a very good experience, just not enough to give it 5 stars that day.
The food was good (chicken wild Rice soup seemed old and watery, but food was hot and fries seemed fresh which was a hit), Service took a bit long and the prices seemed high. Many upcharges for meals that are prices that should include them (I.e. fries, etc.). Charging for water just seems wrong. Other restaurants don’t do this, so it is an added cost that on top of the service fees makes a breakfast for 4- $72!! We want to support local businesses, but please be mindful that at some point it becomes cost prohibitive. Especially because it is still confusing a bit where you play, are you self-service deli type or full restaurant? We were told to go to a table (outside) and seat ourselves, then later a person came with silverware. Tables didn’t get washed in between and there is no table cloth. Confused how those are standards but yet water must be purchased? I convinced my family to come here, and I wanted it to be a positive dining experience- it was our vacation day together.
Have always loved breakfasting at French Meadow Cafe, especially now when outside seating is available. Coffee was excellent as was the food. But do not understand response from waitress when inquired about getting a glass of water. She said she could not do it because it's tap water and "it could be contaminated." Isn't tap water used to brew the coffee?
Very beautiful scenery. We were sat in the shade so not too hot. Fantastic menu and great food. Made for a wonderful birthday brunch.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent!!!
I am always amazed by the food here. I a pescatarian and it has to be my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. Service was so so. Had to ask for water twice. Had to ask for Cream for my tea twice. Need better management of the employees.
Extremely Vegan Friendly! Wonderful options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians as well. Superb quality, friendly service, beautiful quaint atmosphere.
Really cool place everything seemed to be timely if you're on the patio go to the side because lyndale has some rather noisy vehicles going by
Awesome gluten free options. Something for everyone. Delicious!
Reserved an outside table. They got us seated fast It was clean and orderly. There was, however, quite a lot of hornets harassing us and other tables. When able, people got transferred to other tables. You get a lot of unpleasant ambient noise from Lyndale, but with two people, conversation was still easy. Cold press was lovely, and there was lots of non-dairy options for cream. Waitstaff was disappointingly absent. Clearly she had way too many tables, some of which wrapped around corners out of sight. If you eat here, order drinks, apps, and food IMMEDIATELY, or prepare to be abandoned. There was a 20-30 minute gap between drink orders and food orders. This was probably due to the fact that the people who brought us our things were not our actual waiter but some other staff member. I have no idea what our waiter was doing in the meantime since I never saw her once holding drinks or a plate as she passed. Once we actually ordered, food/drink prep fortunately was fast and fresh and delivered within 10 minutes (not by our waiter, but by someone different). Food was delicious, but not for the price. We wanted some condiments with our brunch but our waiter never checked in on us and did not return after taking our order until 15+minutes after we finished it, at which point we asked for our bill. Overall, the tasty food made the poor service and dining environment tolerable but I can’t say I was too thrilled.
Lovely time dining for brunch on the patio. It is a bit noisy because of the busy street.
We were disappointed that for some reason they were only selling glass-bottled spring water to the tune of $5. Honestly, that seemed like a COVID gimmick. We weren't told it was that pricy for water.
Otherwise, service was great, food was good, and coffee was flowing!
It was a wonderful little breakfast. Strict social distancing and protective measures were in place.
Loved the bar dining. Great bartender Brona made amazing cocktails. Smoked salmon eggs scramble made a great dinner!
Loved our first experience at French Meadow! We will definitely be back again.
Great experience though service seemed a little hectic.
Fabulous staff and food
An Uptown institution. Hoping this place never closes.
Always amazing - our favorite food, drinks, service, and great patio.
The food was great. The coffee was always topped off as well as the water. Service was prompt and friendly.
I had a lovely brunch at one of my faves in Minneapolis last Sat. How I missed the patio, but what a treat to be seated in the back under the hanging lights. The food was delicious as always. Gotta love an eggs Benedict! Service and cleanliness in the time of Covid were also top-notch. Thank you!!
The service seems to seem detracted and unintentional about their service.
Food was wonderful. Service was friendly and professional. Will definitely return
Amazing food and good drinks. Noisy if sitting outside by the street.
