good service, good food, a bit too much background noise for someone with hearing aids, like myself
The menu in the Nord Social Hall, where we dined, is specific to that venue and does not include the full French Meadow menu. There are a variety of tasty dishes to choose from including shareable/appetizer plates. We shared the brazed beef entre. It was delicious and enough for two. There's a full bar and some fun craft cocktails.
We dine there regularly and always love it.
Last night, however, the service was extremely slow and the food was mediocre.
We ordered steak and eggs and friut pancakes. They were good. The service was fast but not over barring.
The only negative was that the veggie burger on the menu that we both were going to get was not available.
Salmon eggs benny lacked flavor and hash browns were way beyond crisp
Delicious burger! And their desserts are so good. Our server was really sweet and attentive. Very nice spot for dinner.
Good was good, dessert was excellent. They offer something for everyone from vegan to beef. Everything we had was tasty. We would go again.
Very nice restaurant with lots of vegan options. Been there many times. Will go back.
Manager was absent. Took some time to be seated, as
Several waitstaff and bartenders tried to help and get managers attention to no avail. To add insult to injury, the manager called and wanted to know why I did not show up. I was still seated, no apologies. Food was great.
French Meadow is still experiencing growing pains with the expansion into the Nord Social Hall. Service is slow. It's an intimate music venue with good acoustics. Lynn should consider pre-selling tickets for the number of seats that will fill the place rather than over-filling the space so staff have difficulty serving the customers.
Great food, wonderful service and very quick
It was a holiday with pouring rain so the restaurant having lost all its outdoor seating was "slammed". With our Open Table reservation we were seated right away in the Tasting Room, which was quieter than the other parts of the restaurant. Our table was very crooked and a nice young gentleman replaced it for us immediately when we pointed that out to him. Great service under busy conditions.
We go to French Meadow/Bluestem regularly for breakfast with our extended family. There is food available for all ages and dietary requirements. The service is excellent for our large group.
We love French Meadow and Blue Stem. It is one of my favorite Minneapolis restaurants for a great dining experience.
Outdoor 2 person table on a stunning evening. First time on the south side of the building - car noise surprising low.
Food is always great (mussels and braised beef + sides)
Only minor hiccup was the kitchen runner brought the main course before done with the mussels. I sent it back and the server apologized, they returned later with a fresh prep that was their normal great quality (wasn't under heat lamps). It did cause pause with my date who desperately wanted to rearrange the small table to handle the plates and then with me telling them firmly to take it away, but that passed quickly.
food not that great for the cost---too much noise
Luckily we found parking right out front, our server was great and super fast, fastest service we’ve had! Super good food, lots of great vegan options.
A much needed break and relaxing pause after a hectic week
Food was excellent. One member of our party had some dietary restrictions and there were plenty of options for her. Also, highly recommend going on Wednesday evenings to take advantage of their half price bottles of wine.
The food was delicious and the service was great. Wonderful to feel so satisfied and know you are healthy. A little expensive for our income but it was well worth it. It is a wonderful place to go when you want something special.
We had a group of 16 and were seated in a private room. It was pretty quiet, and the service was excellent. We’ll definitely go back again.
We had a private room for 16 people. It was quiet so we could talk and hear each other. The service was great. The food was very good. We all enjoyed our brunch.
Amazing experience and more terrific in the food department. I loved all the selections our group got. I especially liked that the gluten free options were not cardboard. the atmosphere was most inviting and intimate all the same time. My favorite thing was the classical music playing !!
I have loved French Meadow for years, which is why I selected it for Mother's Day brunch. However, I am not certain I will be back. Our servers were lovely; they kept apologizing for the shortfalls. My blame is management. They attempted to service walk-ins and the Mother's Day crowd and it failed miserably. Food was overcooked, cold and took over an hour. Servers had no knowledge of specials posted on Open Table, but did honor it after I showed them. Please plan better for future holidays so you don't disappoint other loyal patrons.
We've been going to French Meadow since the 70's. I confess I miss the old hippie frou-frou vibe but the food is good and it's still a great place for breakfast (like after Northern Spark about 6:30 am when they start serving in the morning). It was kind of noisy (and crowded) on our recent visit, but the patio is really excellent. I've never not enjoyed dinner at the French Meadow, and I'll never turn down a chance to have supper there.
Good food, but the room was noisy and there was a cool draft over the table.
French Meadow was fabulous, they accommodated our large group and made the experience extra special. Our waiter Tom was extraordinary!!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕. Thank you for a lovely experience!
This is the perfect place for excellent food when you have a gluten and dairy free diet. The food is creative and delicious...and dishes I have never had but would absolutely want again
French Meadow Cafe has made a commitment to sustainable and ethical food. They are, and have been, a leader in this ideology and industry. This is a place you can feel happy about supporting. It doesn’t hurt that their food is absolutely AMAZING either. Highly recommend.
The food was good and had minimal wait. The noise level was extremely loud until the restaurant was half full. Difficult to hear a conversation due to noise level.
Service was mediocre. My salad came without the tofu I had asked for. They brought it separately after I mentioned it. Not knowledgeable about the beer selections. My salad nicoise had only 3 pieces of tuna for $16, which seemed skimpy to me.
Bar none, my favorite restaurant in the cities. Our family, including the 5-year old, eat plant-based but lives in the burbs, so this is our go-to restaurant for trips to MPLS. I love that breakfast and lunch are low-key, counter-order style while you can enjoy a longer sit-down meal for dinner. The vegan options for both kids and adults are aplenty and outstanding. The tempeh Reuben is a long-time favorite of mine and has become my 5-yo son's as well. Last weekend I tried the vegan caesar salad and was floored. Not only was the vegan caesar dressing to die for - the crunchy savory cauliflower and "cheese" sprinkled on top of this beautiful salad were quickly devoured by my 5-year old as well. Another reason we go to FM are their desserts. Our favorites are the vegan seasonal fruit bars and crumbles as well as the fruit cream tarts. I appreciate that all the desserts we've tried are full of flavor but not overly sweet. Absolutely delicious. Can't wait to get back!
Getting together for breakfast with my dad to check out a new place - definitely worth it. Will be coming back to try several other items on the menu!
We were first seated by some very loud guests, and then asked to be moved. The hostess was kind and generous with our request. The service was exemplary.
We reserved a dinner time and then we were off to the Garth Brooks concert. The evening dinner was more than delicious, it was fabulous. We had an almond coated walleye and what I would call an assortment of accompaniments to a wonderfully sauced lamb. The lamb entree was absolutely the best and I am very hard to please. We also had a super dessert that we shared or should I say fought over and it was warmed apple crisp with home made whipped cream. Thanks for a wonderful dinner and evening. We have not been the Cafe for several years but we are coming back SOON !!!!!
Overall, a great experience! The food was tasty, atmosphere pleasant as always, and coffee was delicious! The only minor issue I experienced was that there was only one server for the floor, so service was fairly slow. We had to continue asking for coffee refills because they didn't come and check in. Otherwise, a most excellent experience. I will be going again!
Food was outstanding, we add reservation we're seated on time.
Really love this place was disappointed in our server. She never looked you in the face no smile we felt like we are rushed. Not very absorbent I was out of tea never noticed. Didn't check back with her table we had a flag her down, completely understand the weekends they are busy. I was a waitress an a bartender at one time and there's never any excuse for bad service. Always smile no matter what... always check back with your tables...
Will come back for sure for the food!!
Thanks so much for the compliments, and please accept apologies for your server issues, which are out of the ordinary! We are proud of our staff, who are generally very upbeat and accommodating -- they are expected to be attentive and available to customers at all times -- but your experience was definitely beneath our standard. Very much appreciate that you'll be back!!
Surly waitstaff. But it was at the end of brunch rush. Probably tired
We went for a quick breakfast before driving back to Canada. The server behind the counter didn’t really greet us but we proceeded to place our order. Food was great portions and good coffee. Nothing special about to very casual!
