This is our go to place because they do such a great job accommodating for allergies. Half of us liked our meal and the other didn’t. We’re going to stick to brunch, as we love the brunch menu. Not a big fan of the dinner one.
It was Mother’s Day and I guess they were severely short staffed but you wouldn’t have known it. Always good service and great food.
Thank you for remaining open and providing the usual great food during what was a challenging Mother’s Day with unexpected staffing issues. Looking forward to coming back again soon.
The restaurant was at least a 90 minute wait for food. We left
It was Mother's Day and the brunch was wonderful. As always, the food was scrumptious, the coffee so rich and fresh. Flowers on the tables and superior, friendly service. The menu includes so many healthy choices - LOVE THAT! We had a wonderful time. The food took a while, but we were in no hurry and they had warned us that they were busy and getting food would take some time. We didn't mind the extra time outside in the sun. It was simply lovely.
We waited an hour and a half for food. It came out cold and was missing KEY ingredients. They did however bring us multiple desserts while we were waiting, but our server kept telling us it was coming out in a few minutes every time she came by. The atmosphere was worth the wait, but the value just wasn’t there due to the lack of regard for our wait time and the temps of the food.
I changed my rating to account for all the efforts the restaurant made to contact us and to explain the unusual circumstances that caused the difficult experience described below. We've previously had good experiences there. I believe they had a one of a kind staffing crisis, did what they could, and came up short. They understand the problem and I think they will do better. I suggest you give them a try. The food is delicious. We will be back.
Original: Our server, Betty, was quite nice and helpful. The kitchen was overwhelmed and apparently in chaos. We (and several other tables) received our food 90 minutes after ordering. There didn't seem to be a good relationship between order time and when the food came out as others ordered after us and were served before us. When we asked for the check for the drinks and bakery products we'd ordered and received--canceling our brunch orders--the brunch food came within a few minutes. This was a spectacular restaurant failure. (It was Mother's Day, so they were extra busy. Not an excuse.)
Hi Patrick, I hope you've received an email already, but please accept my apologies. You are correct: it was a spectacular failure, the lowest point in our 35 years. We've been understaffed before, particularly in the past year, but nothing like yesterday, when we were caught flat footed with several last minute call-outs & no-shows (kitchen & wait staff), but chose to stay open -- a decision I take full responsibility for. We failed you on a special day, and for that I am deeply sorry.
It was Mother’s Day and like every restaurant they were understaffed. They probably should not of taken Uber eats and online orders… But I’m still giving them an outstanding because they try to mitigate the weight by offering salads and pastries. The owners went to every table and apologized for the wait. I’ve gone there several times before and the food and the service has been outstanding. They do not deserve to get dinged for the lack of wait staff that is willing to work right now. I will definitely be back again.
Thank you so much for the rating, and especially for the understanding. We really had a disaster in that we were beyond "normal" understaffed, having gotten several employee call-outs and even no-shows at the last minute... Our little skeleton crew -- including family & former employees who came to pitch in on zero notice -- worked their hearts out without complaint, but I know we still fell far short. I truly appreciate your kind words!
We had a great experience, however, we waited one hour and forty minutes for our food. We do understand the circumstances of a staff shortage which you had no control over. Thank you for the email explaining the situation. We'll definitely come to French Meadows again!
It was a wonderful Mother's Day breakfast. Cannot wait to go back for dinner!
Judy, thank you so much!!
Always consistently great food and as a vegetarian I appreciate numerous healthy options with decent portions. A menu with a wide selection is also appreciated
And we appreciate you! We love hearing from happy customers. Thanks so much for your kind words.
Mediocre at best for the food. Not bad but not memorable either. The service was slow and it took an hour to get our food. The server was clearly new and seemed frazzled the whole time
I have been to French Meadow many times and it is always great. Service is good, the food is great.
Fantastic food, worth the wait! Friendly service at the bar
It was great, will definitely go back again. Would definitely encourage reservations because even with so many, it was still packed
French Meadow is a restaurant you can count on to make you happy! We are so thankful they survived the pandemic and hope to keep coming back.
You've totally warmed our hearts with this comment. Thank you so much! We hope to see you again very soon.
Very good food and service. Cold breeze air conditioning and loud party in the same area decreased our enjoyment.
Following distancing very well. Sat our party of four within a few minutes of our reservation time. Took a long time for the waitress to get our drinks order. Food was delicious, but they messed up two of the orders. We had to ask for more drinks and it would have been nice to have ketchup for the fries and hash browns. Had to yell to hear each other. But overall loved the wide variety of food and the nod to vegetarians!
Thank you so much for the generous rating in spite of what sounds like serious service slip-ups!! You are more than gracious. Like many restaurants, we have been short staffed recently -- a challenge because, as we ramp back to a regular service volume, we all face a diminished pool of job applicants at a time when servers require extra training -- and your understanding is appreciated. Please come back soon!!
Loved the tuna poke, drinks where great and my friend loved the walleye. I am happy they have updated their menu.
Happy to be vaccinated and able to get out. Social distancing in place and all staff had on masks. We love it here the food and service is always top notch, today did not disappoint. Happy they were able to make it thru the pandemic and did not have to close like may of other restaurants in MN. Support your local merchants.
Thanks so much - we really appreciate your support, and look forward to serving you again in the future!
Amazing food. Loved the Avocado Toast, a must try.
We had the Huevos Rancheros which was delicious. It was perfect to dine out of doors this day.
We enjoyed our meals, especially the huevos rancheros. Our tea was delicious, and nice and hot on a cold day. Pleasant service. Music a little liud but nicr classical selections.
Our evening at French Meadow was very disappointing and concerning. We were seated promptly for our reservation and COVID precautions in place. Our server greeted us and took drink orders. From there it got worse. She was extremely friendly but extremely slow and disappeared for long periods of time without bringing what we had ordered. She wrote down our orders but repeatedly came back to re ask the same question. “Couldn’t read her writing”. Could not put our order into the computer and one of us in the party actually saw the struggle and went to help her. Spoke to management but they seemed to ignore the problem and give no support. Food came after about another 1/2 hour with the server nowhere to be found. She appeared well after we finished eating to ask about dessert but never came back with menu for it. Had to go find manager for bill.... I could go on and on. Unacceptable and concerning!! The restaurant was not overly busy and patio had one table. Spoke with manager again.... not offered compensation or explanation for this poor experience.
Our waitress was so nice and was clearly working hard, but it felt like the restaurant was overbooked. Our table was dirty, it took ten minutes to get water, and our drinks took a long time to come out. I do not want to place blame on any specific person who served us, but the management of French Meadow's service was disappointing. I am hesitant to make another reservation after this experience.
Our meals were outstanding! Loved the vegan Mozzarella &Spinach Ravioli,
the Almond Crusted Walleye, and the Seared Scallops! Can’t wait to have them again! Our server was great, too! Overall a great experience!
Thanks so much! The Mozzarella & Spinach Ravioli & Seared Scallops are new menu items introduced by our new executive chef, Dusty Graham, and he'll be delighted to hear your compliment.
I am so happy they have new menu items. They really needed an updated menu and they have some great addition. I love the tuna poke.
This is great - thank you so much! I'm passing on your comments to our new executive chef, Dusty Graham, who'll be thrilled to hear this. (The Tuna Poke is one of his new menu additions!)
Our daughter chose French Meadow for her 15th birthday dinner. She raved about the place after having lunch with a friend here. We were not disappointed! And we will be back. Thanks for the great service Gabriel.
Nice Easter brunch when original plans didn’t work. Was able to get reservations right away. Waitress was very attentive and sweet. Enjoyed the special Easter menu.
We went for lunch. We sat outside, which was nice because it was a warm, sunny day. Great menu. Loved the quiche! Wonderful service. Looking forward to coming back for dinner.
So happy to hear you enjoyed our patio! We look forward to seeing you again soon -- hopefully when "patio season" weather returns.
It was Easter Sunday and they were busy so it seemed slow. Not sure if our server spoke English.
Delicious Sunday brunch with some Easter specials and the normal menu. Great organic food.
Thanks much for spending your Easter with us, and for your review! I'm so happy you enjoyed brunch, hope you'll be back soon.
Service was great. Food was excellent.
Food was fantastic. We sat outside, that was wonderful. Service was okay mainly because I think the servers were just busy but took 30 minutes to get our bill after we were totally finished and plates were taken away. Otherwise, great experience!
Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed your meal! Accept my apologies for the wait on the check -- the servers are definitely stretched due to extra COVID safety steps, but this is not an excuse for a 30 minute wait! I can tell you I'll address this with the manager to avoid this happening on your next visit.
Took 18 minutes for the waitress to come take our drink order. She never checked on us till was time for the bill
BBQ cauliflower wings were amazing! Service was great and accommodating to dietary needs.
Will be back! Everyone was so nice!
Fairly expensive but you get what you pay for. $27 for lunch isn't what I do often and once the coffee refill station is back it'll be better.
Great food, great spot! So many options for people with different diet needs and wants. Love the bakery and cakes too!
Excellent lunch everything was wonderful!
Sylvia is incredible! She took the time to get to know myself and my husband better. She remembered our name, what we ordered, etc. The food is always good but the service is what keeps us coming back.
