I had previously been here in the summer and it was really nice to sit outside. Good service, good food. But today was just “off”. First, our server came to the table and just stood there - waiting for us to say something. Then, when I asked for water with my coffee she informed us that they only do bottled water. I’m not sure why tap water was safe in the summer or why my coffee is safe, but tap water is not. AND $5? Not her fault, this is a poor management decision. I had the salmon Benedict - which came with NO English muffin? On what planet does this happen? When I checked the menu it says they charge for it. It was never offered to me, but that’s just weird. I’ll be back because the food is good, but probably not until it’s warm again.
$2.50 for water without telling us we would be charged when we asked for some...servers should preface that when ordering.
My poached egg was cold and was a strange texture. As if it had been made earlier and then served to me at a later time. Corn blueberry cake was okay.
French Meadow never disappoints. Enjoyed getting out for a change.
The server brought the wrong hot drink the first time- and then tried to bring the right one the next time but it was still wrong. We had ordered the oatmeal latte- and it was missing vanilla and cinnamon.
Service very nice. Food awesome. A bit cold in the room.
Service scanty, at best; items served in small plates. We reserved a table that was divided by plexiglass but tables in front cannot be reserved. Food average. Had to serve ourselves for extra coffee. Used to be our go-to b'fast place. Do not recommend now. Previous staff gone.
1. When served a meal, I should not have to flag a server to ask for salt, pepper, basic condiments.
2. Covid19 precautions were in place and customers seated at comfortable distance —at 11:00am. The restaurant however filled up significantly after that and was very crowded as we finished our meal — uncomfortably so.
Would only recommend for outdoor dining or indoor at off-times.
Staff were great! The food is always on point. Just a lovely patio.
Seemed dangerous inside as far as COVID transmission risk. Crowded and no ventilation. I felt bad for staff. Menu for breakfast is quite limited. No simple options like a veggie omelet, or a make your own omelet. Hash dishes look good but a plate of potato is way too many carbs. No turkey bacon available.
Excellent all around! Loved the unique menu with exceptional vegan options.
Super disappointed - service was slow, food mediocre, cleanliness subpar, had to buy water because of COVID (which is not the norm among restaurants I’ve been to at this time). I’ve had their food before and enjoyed it, but this time was a downer.
Don’t try to eat inside with full service. They mess it up every time. To bad, outside is always good.
Slow service, and the grilled rachel was a disappointment, a bit like hospital food. Just some dry turkey cold cuts on greasy white bread, without much else. I expect better from French meadow. Pricey too, for what it was
Pretty atmosphere, good coffee, nice outdoor seating and fun desserts.
We were so happy with the food, service, ambiance and value at French Meadows in the Bluestem Bar! It was Covid friendly, sitting in one of the booths and of course the servers had masks. It is so nice to have a place to go that has everything that matters when going out to eat during these concerning times, thank you! We would totally recommend!!
The service was super good. They have good methods to avoid contact with people and the ingredients were what I expected to be.
Everything was good and met our expectations except that our server didn't provide the service we're used to. She seemed over burdened by too many tables or not enough experience. The food and drinks were excellent as always.
It was fine
We had such a wonderful time at French meadow. The food was great & the coffee was better. The environment was great and it was easy to converse even though the patio was pretty full. Will most definitely be going back in the near future.
The food, drinks, and service were awesome! The only problem I had was that the covid precautions could’ve been taken more seriously. Tables were pretty close together and I didn’t feel as safe as I have at other outdoor seating restaurants.
Nice outside seating. Great food.
Wonderful food and great service.
Best sidecar I've had in a decade! Everything we ate was excellent. Soup, salmon, beef rib, desserts, all great.
Filling good social distancing practices. I did think it was weird they wouldn’t give us glasses of water but instead charged for bottled water. We also ordered soda and those soda cups were taken and refilled when empty.
One of the best tomato soups I’ve ever had! They were handling COVID cleaning and spacing expectations really well.
Please be warned they will not give you tap water. You have to buy a large glass bottle of water or you will be very thirsty. Ridiculous. Otherwise the food is very good! Just so dumb about the water and kind of a deal breaker to come here again.
The cauliflower wings are amazing. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything here.
Had a nice breakfast here. Avocado toast was delicious as was the eggs benny. Server was great! we were there early in the morning. Everything is set up well for social distancing etc.
Great ambiance and food!
We will go back again soon!
I love the quality and freshness of the food at French Meadow. I do suggest that the website be updated to reflect the streamlined menu, as that affected my choice.
The Wild Acres Turkey burger was soooo delicious. Super yummy. Hand-cut French fries were amazing--the best I've had years. The side salad was fresh and delicious--the greens were crisp and plump, and the lemon vinaigrette was so simple, clean, and yummy. My friend's vegan Cesar Salad was strange...but overall a very good visit.
A great place for a gluten free, dairy free meal.
The server was excellent, food was great as always. They had it set up nicely to dine outdoors during Covid, made my reservation online!
A lovely menu - great choices and superb food. Awesome variety of drinks too. Attentive, capable, friendly server. Will def return
The service the last few times here has been terrible.
Visit 1.) The waitress didn’t put our order in then let us know an hour later after we asked multiple times if the food was coming.
Visit 2.) self service (which is fine) but no water available. The guy taking orders did not have his nose covered with his mask. Was not able to answer basic questions.
Visit 3.) picking up takeout. Saw my order on the counter. Tried (same guy as mentioned above, again not covering his nose with his mask) but he did not acknowledge me. Staff was running around not paying attention to anyone in line.
I get it - we’re all doing the best we can. But this is just sloppy.
Our favorite breakfast place. The outdoor seating was very pleasant.
We usually love coming here so maybe it was an off day for them. Food was tasteless and salmon was full of bones. I understand fish have bones, but you should not be pulling mouthfuls of bones out constantly. Service wasn’t great this time either. I don’t need you to cater to me hand and foot, but don’t walk away when I’m talking to you and forget about us until you give us the check.
We had reservations and got seated outside right away. Prompt attention and service was good. I ordered a Cobb salad which was a lot of lettuce, bacon, olives and a lot of sliced turkey and a halved hard boiled egg . Portions were generous, but as a salad... not very interesting and I wouldn't order it again. Salty Dog cocktail came with a sugar, not salted rim. Server immediately brought another one when we brought it to her attention. Overall, a very good experience, just not enough to give it 5 stars that day.
The food was good (chicken wild Rice soup seemed old and watery, but food was hot and fries seemed fresh which was a hit), Service took a bit long and the prices seemed high. Many upcharges for meals that are prices that should include them (I.e. fries, etc.). Charging for water just seems wrong. Other restaurants don’t do this, so it is an added cost that on top of the service fees makes a breakfast for 4- $72!! We want to support local businesses, but please be mindful that at some point it becomes cost prohibitive. Especially because it is still confusing a bit where you play, are you self-service deli type or full restaurant? We were told to go to a table (outside) and seat ourselves, then later a person came with silverware. Tables didn’t get washed in between and there is no table cloth. Confused how those are standards but yet water must be purchased? I convinced my family to come here, and I wanted it to be a positive dining experience- it was our vacation day together.
