We were sad to see this restaurant close. I took my mom for her birthday and to have one last meal there. The waiters were very off that day and did not seem to even be the ones we were used to seeing. Our waiter seemed like it was his first day. Something was different but we still had a delicious meal and would go back if they were still open. We are very sad to see this restaurant close and wish them the best in the future. We do hope another restaurant will go in and keep it as wonderful as The French Garden was.

Excellent dining experience. Everyone had something different and it was all good. Very nice wine list. Would recommend it to foodies and friends that like good food and wine.

Soon to close, a review is unlikely to effect. But server was abrupt to the point of being rude. The only time she returned was to provide the tab. Meals were good but what was delivered varied SIGNIFICANTLY from the menu descriptions.

Yes it was indeed very enjoyable, but unfortunately they are closing as of this day.
A real disappointment as it is one of our favorite places to dine in Sebastopol.

We had our last lunch here before you close, to say Thank You for the wonderful meals, superb service, and lovely setting. We shall miss you so but wish you the very best in your next adventures.

Our farewell meal, chicken breast/bacon/avacado on croissant......oh my. A classic. Blessings and the best to you!!!!!!!!!

...or lunch or dinner. Go soon, as they will only be open for a couple more weeks! Sad, but true, this wonderful restaurant will close in late June. If you've put off going, go now. If you have a June event, an awesome place to celebrate. Meals and service in style, in a beautiful setting! I'll miss the French Garden.

The food is fresh and fairly interesting. The atmosphere is lovely. The service, however is slow and even though the servers had few diners that week night, they were not particularly attentive. They were nice, but at a restaurant of this promise, price and potential, they should be checking on the customers more often and making sure that dinner is served fairly promptly.

Nice dinner location, good freshly prepared tasty food, wine only "OK". Enjoyed the 3 Course Prix Fixe Menu with the Braised Beef Short Ribs - would recommend it!

The food, service and ambiance at this restaurant is always exceptional. This is one of our favorite restaurants to bring out of town guests to. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for excellent, delicious food choices and great atmosphere as well.

Food was good, service was not up to par. understaffed, no dinner forks no asking if we needed
more drinks w/main course. No asking how things were. Just low class service opposite of the
food quality & the look of the plates. Although the amount of Salmon was a total rip off . My son works hard is a healthy young man & the tiny pieces of salmon were a rip off. We Paid over $230 for our meals w/out dessert & we told them it was a birthday & Mother's day when I made
the reservation they said they would bring a house dessert I we could sing but they didn't mention it or ask if we still wanted to do that? Very disappointed for my daughter nobody
sang to her for her birthday .. Hope this helps you to be able to improve your service.

We go to French Garden very often for lunch. The quality is always outstanding and service is very good. We recently went there for Mother's Day brunch. The buffet quality was really impressive. I highly recommend this place for lunch, dinner or brunch.

The food is always of good quality, with great care shown in plating the food in artistic ways. I love that the majority of vegetables are from their own farm. The spacing of tables in the nicely appointed main dining room is optimal.

The last visit was not so good, due to the highly fragranced wait person from laundry products. Despite my request, she refused to have another wait person serve us, but instead kept a distance when taking our order, inquiring (too often) about our meal, and presenting the bill. It wasn't good enough. I lost my appetite, could barely eat my meal, and we left after being there just an hour. I have written to the owners and have not received any response, to date.

My GF and I were just spending one night in Sebastopol (I was riding the Wine Country Century the next day) so I was looking for a nice restaurant in Sebastopol. I saw the great reviews on Open Table (and other restaurant review sites) and decided to reserve. Oh my, our dinner was so good! I really liked the layout of the whole place...the bar is separated from the main dining room via a glass wall...so you get the expansiveness of a larger area, plus a view of the vibrant bar scene without the usual noise of a bar. What a great concept! Although we didn't try the bar, we will next time. Very nice and that Friday night they had live music.

We shared all our entrees as we often do...we started with the salad special that night...arugula with melon wrapped prosciutto and blue cheese with a vinaigrette dressing. Really good! Then we had another special - a lamb stew of sorts with potatoes, mushrooms, baby carrots and one other root vegetable I forgot. It was fantastic (and enough for two)...the delicious rich gravy was mopped up with the fresh bread they provided too. We splurged on dessert...got the banana sundae (shared of course). Nicely presented and how can you beat ice cream and bananas?

The bill for both of us (including 3 glasses of wine) including a generous tip was under $100. Was well worth it!

All in all the service was excellent...not too intrusive but attentive enough. We will definitely go back to French Garden and highly recommend the restaurant.

NOTE: I recently found out that the French Garden went out of business...what a shame! :-(

I was so impressed with the quality and presentation of the food, the ambiance and service was equally as good, can't wait for the next special occasion to go back again! It also looked like they had a lively bar scene with live music and tappas . They have glass separating the restaurant from the bar areas which really helps with the sound and makes the restaurant more intimate.

It was a delicious breakfast. Everything tasted very fresh including homemade jams. English muffins tasted like they were baked fresh and the galette scramble I ate had a very tasty galette under eggs. I also thought their hollandause sauce was excellent. We sat outside and it was a beautiful day. I would go back for brunch anytime.

All 6 of us throughly enjoyed our meals. The prices were not out of sight & food was not skimpy, but you felt like you were out at a very special place. They comped out dessert as it was a 75th birthday celebration. We will definitely go again

We recently moved to sebastopol and I had always noticed this place as I drove by to the coast. Checked out their happy hour which usually has a yummy drink special or 2. Nice large bar with a cozy fireplace in the corner surrounded by cushy chairs and couch. Happy hour mussels and clams are special. I always get the french onion soup and they do it well here. (Not on happy hour menu) Good cheezy melty bread on top. Dinner is good too. Always have a nice fish prepared well. Not a cheap meal but is always fresh and tastey. They have outdoor seating and quite a large dining room. When we were there last it was very quiet bit when happy hour is on it gets louder. Definitely not rowdy tho. Great reliable food nearby. Always bring my mom there. She loves the cloth napkins and tablecloths. Makes it feel more upscale.

Using local ingredients assembled, cooked and presented in the most interesting combinations. Some of the highest quality service you'll ever experience coupled with a choice of indoors with a fireplace, a plush dining room and a wonderful outdoor garden area, all combine to provide a Wide range of settings. The prices considering the quality of service, exquisite menus choices and seating options make this an excellent value. Our favorite is brunch.

We had reservations and were greeted and seated right away, but there was a graciousness that was missing from that point on that we were expecting from this higher end restaurant. We waited too long for our meals (about 45 minutes after ordering) and when they came they were somewhat mediocore. The accoustics bounced around a lot of noise and it was difficult to have a dinner conversation. There was a large private dinner party going on and that may have had something to do with it, but you could feel the stress on the wait staff. Overall, somewhat disappointed in our experience. Another day and time may have resulted in a better experience but we likely will not take a chance on that in the future with so many other great restaurants to discover in Sonoma County.

I hadn't realized that it was a pre-set price of $87 per person when I booked the reservation for 4 of us. I probably would have been scared off. I'm glad we went. The service was perfect. Available but not intrusive or pushy. The food was excellent. Nice ambience. Salad and vegetables were creative and delicious. My least favorite of the whole night was the lamb chop. It was ok, not great. Would definitely go again.

We eat out a lot.
This is our fourth time to French Garden. This time for Valentine's Day.
UNBELIEVABLE!
The dining experience is without match.
From the appetizer to the dessert....our palate's and eyes were teased with the most exciting and satisfying presentations.
We cant wait to return.
