Love the Freestone, have been going there for years. However, this dinner was very subpar. It started when we had a reservation at 7pm for 6 people. The day before we requested a certain table, and was told they couldn't guarantee it but would try.
So, at 7pm our group of 6 arrived and was told they had us down for 2 people. I don't know how that mistake was made. So, we had to wait. We were told to go back up to our hotel room and they would call when a table opened. 35 minutes later they called us and told us our table was ready. We went down and the table we had requested was available. However, we didn't get it. We went to a different table and 10 mintutes later another group got the table we requested. Oh well. We didn't care too much about the table, it would have been nice but it didn't ruin the evening. Not having our reservation ready though,was not good and it seemed to set the tone. So when we ordered we were told certain entrees were sold out that night, which was another big bummer. We ordered out entrees and most of us had Caesar salads to start. When those arrived, fresh pepper was not offered. Again, this isn't a huge deal, but it was in keeping with the night. Anyway, the rest of the meal was fine.
The Freestone is a special place and you pay for it. When you pay that kind of money you expect a certain level of service and it just fell considerably short this evening. We all left feeling like the Freestone let us down a bit. Oh well, we'll go back and hope it's better next time.

The food was very good, and ambience fine. My main problem was that the dining room was too cold. We were there on a winter night, and they have these beautiful floor to ceiling windows. I think it lets in too much coolness, plus the dining room is just off the main entryway as well. We noticed that the hall temp was set at 74 degrees, in their attempt to warm up the dining area. However, most people, including us, were wearing heavy sweaters or jackets over their shoulders to keep warm while eating. My hands were freezing by the time dinner ended so it took away any enjoyment of the otherwise nice meal. We asked them to put more wood on their nice fireplace, which they did, but it still wasn't warm enough. We won't go back.

There were four of us dining. The roasted chicken my friend had was cooked but served ice cold. The pork chop her husband had looked good but was very undercooked and also had to be sent back..Our steaks were ok. There was no offer made to adjust our bill.

The food was good but the menu was very limited. I assume this was do to the off season. There were no specials either and not much for vegans or vegetarians.

Amy took care of us for happy hour and dinner on Sat. 9/9/17; she was wonderful!
Breakfast also excellent and a great value for our weekend stay.

Very poor service on the night we went. From start to finish we were there three hours. Observed several tables seated after us receive food before ours. We asked three times about our meals. Have a hunch that our ticket was forgotten as our server was also tending the bar and busing tables. Excuses were made about being slammed... (only two other tables were there before us) and short staffed... (on Labor Day weekend). Several other things happened that shouldn't have under normal circumstances. After further complaining about the length of time it took to receive our food, free desserts were offered, but we really didn't have time to wait, so a discount was given (basically covered our four drinks). Since our server was also the floor manager, there was no one else on site to discuss our concerns.

The food was very good however, if it weren't such a pleasant setting and semi-remote, we were prepared to walk out. I made the 90 minute drive back the next morning to speak with the hotel manager that was not there the night before. She did a wonderful job of explaining more about why the wheels fell off the bus the night before and refunded our entire ticket.

Based on my positive interaction with the hotel manager, I am willing to give this place another shot. Again, we had zero complaints about the food quality and drinks. Wonderful location, bad service night.

We ordered Scallops and the Meatloaf. Both were unique and very good. The bees, however seemed especially attracted to the meatloaf ::-( The mashed potato with truffle oil was outstanding.

Excellent food. Gourmet burger as good as they get; caramelized onion a nice touch, and great bacon. My wife has scallops on polenta cakes; she's a scallops aficionado, and said they were tops. Starter salad excellent--not too much oil, well-seasoned.

They were starting a "locals night" and thus, to our surprise as guests at the Freestone Inn, did not serve dinner. They had a new chef which was the excuse for glacial speed service, but we felt really bad spending as much as we did for lodging and being a captive audience for dinner (no other restaurants for at least 30 miles) and then waiting 2 hours for service (water and happy hour menu came early but food not for about an hour and 45 minutes. Yikes!!
Gorgeous place, very nice people, apologetic both that evening and next morning, but, hey, we could have expected better when it came to dining.

Went for the sushi, but found that it was not being offered any more. So we cancelled our dinner reservation but stayed for happy hour drinks and appetizers on the deck overlooking the patio and lake. The food was nothing special. The atmosphere was wonderful. We stayed for hours, drinking cocktails, eating tough asparagus in tempura batter, enjoying the summer night. Please bring back the sushi.

We had a leisurely dinner. The pork belly appetizer was wonderful and the deep fried asparagus was good too. The lamb was cooked perfectly as were the scallops and the pork tenderloin. The side dishes were not up to expectations from the mashed potatoes to the mixed vegetables. But overall, we enjoyed the outside dining. While we waited for our service, the view was spectacular.

We've become regulars and are bringing friends. I am surprised at how few of my friends know about sushi night at the Freestone, but the word is getting out, as each Thursday I go, the place gets fuller and fuller. The sushi rolls are delicious and generous. Two of them are plenty for dinner.

We went for international night (Thursday), in this case sushi. The rolls are creative and generous in portions. It's a fun way to share time with friends and one of those meals that leaves a rosy glow for hours.

Thursday nights are special. The chef does international night. So far, I have tried Thai and sushi. Both were spectacular. There is nothing like Thursday night dinner at the Freestone within a couple of hours' drive.

Service was great. Beautiful dining room. Food had some good points, some bad. Steak was undercooked, creamed spinach was tasty but most of the spinach wasn't even wilted. Lobster mac and cheese was in a very loose almost watery cheese sauce that was supposed to be made with pepper jack cheese but I didn't see a single pepper flake. Duck sausage stroganoff - sauce was tasty but noodles were tough. Seared salmon perfectly cooked but rice was dry. Overall, unfortunately, disappointing and not worth the money. I had high hopes but they were not met.

This was one of the best weekends we have had. The entire staff was very accommodating, friendly and gracious. I could not imagine spending our first anniversary anyplace else. We will continue to come back here many more times. I would recommend the lodge and restaurant to all my family and friends. The food was amazing my hats off to the chef, and the bar tender was just as talented. I cant say enough good things about the Freestone lodge. Thank you all and we will see you again this summer.

We spent two nights at the Inn over the weekend and had 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts there - every bite was delicious! Portions are huge so we ended up having our 1st dinner leftovers for lunch after a spin on the nordic trails.

We ate at this restaurant because we were staying at the Freestone Inn. The food was pretty good, but not great. The salmon was good. We ate there two nights and one of the nights they seemed overwhelmed without enough wait staff. We ordered wine before dinner and were told we would have to wait for a while because the bartender had to go do something first!

I would eat at this restaurant at least once if I was staying at the Inn but probably would not choose to drive there otherwise. That said, the ambiance is lovely, in a beautiful lodge with a big fireplace overlooking the small lake and mountains.

Wonderful selection and really great food. Well presented, very tasty. Our only negative was the ambience. Maybe we hit a bad night but there was a large table of skiers who were very loud and dominated the entire space. For such a nice restaurant it was a shame that the evening wasn't all it could be because of this loud group. My concern, and maybe it's not justified, is that this is a nightly gathering for the hell-skiing crowd and therefore the noise is common.

My meal of scallops and snow peas was delicious. My husband ordered the New York steak and was disappointed because it was tough. He complained to the waitress, she got the cook, who listened to him. We did not have to pay for the steak. This is a higher end restaurant price wise so we were happy to not have to pay for a tough piece of meat.

The food was tasty and plentiful. We enjoyed the appetizers as well as the entries. Scallops were cooked to perfection, yet the steak was a little on the "more done than should be" since it was a local NY cut and prone less to marbling. It was too much to finish so we took the steak pieces home.

We have eaten here before under different name/ ownership and enjoyed it. But I must confess this was a better meal food wise. If you are in the Methow Valley check it out.

While Freestone is in a beautiful setting and should have everything going for it , it has really struggled with the service end. I have gone to the restaurant on 4 different occasions over the years and each time there has seemed to be a service issue. This time when we arrived the "seat yourself" sign was still up even though it was dinner service with reservations and the staff seemed disorganized around where to seat people. After we were seated we were then not approached for almost 25 minutes despite there being 4 servers and about 8 tables of diners and we were pretty much out in the middle of the dining room so hard to miss.
We decided to leave but did approach the manager to let them know. They seemed horrified at what had happened and offered to comp our meal if we stayed. We agreed to stay and from then on out they were great. Food was good overall and the manager was lovely and very attentive from that point on.
