We went to celebrate a birthday. The "garage door" opening to their restaurant provided a larger than the actual patio, "outdoor" seating. We sat first level "inside" and it was great, still received a breeze from outdoors but was perfectly removed from the hustle of the street.
Food was very, very good. We read slightly mixed reviews before going but still gave it a try and we were so glad we did! The Arugula salad was delish as were the Hangover pizza (sans eggs) and the smoked bacon carbonara linguini. All were very flavourful.
Our waiter Andrew, was fabulous. In a great mood and very efficient. And although we were both so full that we didn't order dessert, he was so kind and brought a yummy light chocolate mousse dessert with a sparkler in it to recognize the bday. :)
We'd definitely go back and recommend this fun spot
Fred was not there and neither were the chefs. Terrible scallops and the brisket was disappointing.
We've eaten here many times. Not once have we been disappointed. Seafood Paella was excellent. Filet mignon was great. Always a great meal and great service. See you next time!
Service was great. Food was mediocre at best. Steak was charred and lacked flavour. Frites were soggy and lukewarm.
I did not like it because the grilled shrimp was over cooked . Also I did like the fact that the washrooms were downstairs which I have difficultly with. The service was good and the rest of the meal was good. I would not come back because of the stairs
There was sand from the mussels in my food , wasn't washed properly. But everything else was lovely. Was a little expensive
The waiter was very attentive. Food quality & value is excellent (summerlicious menu)
Only minor point, the ice cream melted before arriving the table
Overall good value
food service was provided within a timely manner.
waitress could have been a little more talkative -- she was very quiet, but professional.
desserts (especially the cheesecake) was very small.
2nd time dinning at Fred's Not Here. Last time was for dinner.
The Lobster soup is good. I like the ice cream too.
We started off with a server who seemed intent on making our experience a good one. He was also very friendly and personable. Our server then changed to another that was not personable and made some rude comments to members of our party. She didn't seem like a happy individual and was not service oriented whatsoever.
food not as good as before (my last visit was 2 years ago).
Good food and service! Ambience is cozy.
We had a wonderful evening.
It's disappointing when you make reservations and go in and they seat you at the other restaurant because they have no seats available for you. I would have been better off just walking in if I wanted to sit in the basement. The food and server were good.
Summerlicious. Best "licious" meal ever. Great server. Andrew. We will be back!
Had a wonderful meal- each course outstanding, service great, atmosphere fabulous. Pacing of meal just perfect as we needed to catch concert after. Recommending to friends will go back when in Toronto again.
Came here for the summerlicious. We ordered the seafood paella. The rice was a bit undercooked, the lobster had no taste. Food was just so so but the portion was big for summerlicious. Service was great.
Went twice this month for lunch and dinner with family and friends. The lobster soup and steak were amazing.
Went to try out their summerlicious menu. Lobster soup was the bomb although being on the saltier side of things. The steak was too raw for medium rare while being too hard for medium medium...Had an apple caramel cheese cake for dessert which was ok. Expected a lot more from this place because of all the good reviews...
Fast and friendly service. Meals are good value, especially considering the other choices available in the neighbourhood. It's our go-to spot for pre-theatre dining, the servers are very conscious of time if you let them know you're catching a show, and they always have set menus available.
We particularly enjoyed the fact that our table seated six people and was round. This round table allowed all six of us to be fully engaged in the ongoing conversation . The food was excellent and our evening was wonderful.
The food was great although the décor was very obviously dated, especially the carpet.
Daughter and I enjoyed summerlicious and a day out shopping. The food was served hot and fresh
I was not satisfied with the service of my server, he just brought my main dish while I was eating appetizer and bill while I was having dessert.
It made me feel get rushed and uncomfortable.
Ill get away from you for a while.
The Lobster soup is a must have! The setting is for groups of people, not really romantic, but more Bang for the buck sort of deal. The food comes in large portions and is delicious. My #1 pick for summerlicious/Winterlicious events so far.
Food was bland. I ordered the rack of lamb and it was bland. The halibut and shrimp dish was slso bland and the portion was small. The fish was overcooked and there was only 2 shrimps.
Went here for summerlicious. I thought it was okay. The beverages were ovepriced. We ordered the lobster and crab soup which was delicious with the pastry baked on top but I wish it had chunks of lobster in it. I also ordered the paella which was a large portion fit for 2 people. I heard good reviews about it but the flavour was just not for me. The desert was the best part. I ordered the peach which was grilled and served with french vanilla ice cream and i recommend it if you're a fan of peaches. The server was super friendly ut the tables were tiny anand too close to other tables.
Should have some bread.
Service did not introduce herself and ask to refill water a couple times
Place is very nice, food is delicious, staff is pleasant. Service is good. Over all we had a great time, except one little thing. In a spot where we were sitting was extremely cold from air conditioning.
My friends and i enjoyed very much. This is the second summerlicious in a row at Fred's.
Appreciated the waiter's suggestion between the steak and lamb options as well as recommending the soup (which we all found EXCELLENT!).
Very nice atmosphere and great variety for summerlicious! A great time for us all!
Always a favourite during Winterlicious and Summerlicious. I love the menu options and the value is terrific. My favourite is the lobster/crab soup!
Our waitress was a bit grumpy at times and nice at other times. We made a reservation and got sat below the air conditioning vent that was dripping water into our glasses and on our food. The waitress was nice at the start by wiping the vent with a cloth so that this didn't happen... When we asked her to do it a 2nd time since drips were falling in our drinks and food, she was quite rude about it.
Our first time was a year ago which was great, but after this time we probably won't return.... for the money spent we would expect that drippings would not fall on our food and would expect a more pleasant waitress.
Food was great
Great food! came here for Summerlicious and our waitress was very accomodating. We noted that we had to get back for work and she made sure we were out within an hour
Tables in the front window and outside are crammed together. No room to relax. The tables inside looked better but one of our party was insistent on an outside table. The wedge salad and 10oz New York were unremarkable, and the side portions were small other than the large cone of droopy shoestring frites. A friend suggested this place for a Father's Day dinner and we checked the menu online, most of which had disappointingly been changed. Service was great but we wouldn't go back.
Good place to go to before a show. Wait staff were quick and efficient although the bar is located in the basement. Large menu but great options for big groups of people. The lobster soup is visually a nice show piece.
Food continues to be good but the restaurant and décor is very tired.
My wife and I booked a table for a pre-show dinner. The manager at the front door was having a problem on the phone so our initial greeting was less than amicable. We ended up with a table by the doors leading into the kitchen. My mistake, not to be repeated. Our server was pleasant and efficient. I order the lobster and crab soup, which was very good, along with the angus beef brisket which was not very good. The brisket was tasteless and came with pasta in a mysteriuos thick white sauce. Not a good combination. My wife had the seared salmon and shrimp combo and was pleased with it. For desert we shared the sorbet plate. The sorbet had been scooped ahead of time and then plated. As a result the scoops were as hard as stone. We had to wait until the sorbet was tempered and soft enough to eat. This place gets real busy prior to show time but they get you in and out quickly. There are a lot of other restaurants on this street that I would try before returning to Fred's.
Is a little on the "pricey" side but the food is worth it. Try using the 2 item special menu for dinner it is definitely worth the price. The bisque soup with puff pastry on the top is scrumptious. Save room for dessert if you can. Going for lunch so will see how the lunch menu compares.
This is our second time here. Came back for the duck fat frites because they are truly amazing.
I had the baked cod - absolutely delicious, and much husband really enjoyed the blue cheese burger.
Service was attentive and times perfectly, we will return again.
Delicious! Impeccable and friendly service
