Fred's Not Here Ratings and Reviews
Came here for winterlicious and there were both highs and lows. The steak was not cooked properly for those who ordered it - asked for medium and came out rare. By the time we received the food there was no time to send it back and wait for a second time. Good thing the soup was filling!
Have dined here on several occasions. The menu has a wide variety of choices thereby giving options for the vegetarian, the seafood preference or the beef / chicken eater. The Lobster and Crab soup is a wonderful appetizer with its puffed pastry crown. I would have liked the soup to be a little thicker. Steaks were cooked exactly as requested. Fish was moist and tender. The apple blossom desert was just the right size to finish off the meal.
The staff is knowledgeable, attentive and consistent. It was so nice that our server remembered us from an earlier visit last spring. It made us feel welcomed and valued.
Went for a holiday get together with my sister and it was great! Delicious food and quite quiet after the theatre crowd headed out. Overall it was a really great evening and I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have a great meal at a great restaurant.
A relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Very close to the Princess of Wales theatre. The menu is full of great choices with something for every taste. The prime New York strip steak with fries and veggies was cooked as ordered and very tasty. My husband had the slow roasted angus beef brisket with mushrooms, noodles & spinach which was tender, juicy and very, very good. We will definitely eat there again and again.
The experience was made superior because of our server Mark. He was attentive, efficient and friendly.
My partner had to return her steak as it seemed to be an inferior cut of beef, but Mark returned with a proper cut, done to perfection.
We would certainly return again.
The dinner never happened. They accepted the reservation then chose to close early. After taking an uber across town, in the snow with 5 people, we got there as they were locking up. I knocked on the door and the manager/owner opened and yelled at me that I just "should have known they had the right to close early?" They then proceeded to called me for 2 days and not leave messages, or say anything when I answered my phone. Very very very bizarre.
I have been going to this restaurant for years and love the lobster and bisque soup as well as the coconut shrimp. The steak was cooked to perfection, there is certainly something to be said for flame broiled steak. All in all a great meal in a cozy restaurant.
Fred's Not Here had the perfect atmosphere and ambience for the out my friends and I had planned. We never had to speak at a super high volume as the restaurant noise level was perfect all night. Food was delicious and came promptly. Our server was amazing all night helping with all our needs. And all in all a great experience!
The "cuteness" of the name is probably the biggest thing the restaurant has going for it. Service was okay; the biggest disappointment was the food -- underseasoned and pretty ordinary, although the prices aren't (not surprising considering the high-rent district they're in). The hit of the evening for me was the chocolate-banana bread pudding. But it was a lot less expensive than the bacon-wrapped filet that basically just lacked flavour.
We booked a large group of eight people for an early Sunday evening dinner. We ended up arriving earlier than expected and the restaurant was very accommodating, getting us seated immediately. The young lady serving our group was absolutely amazing. Knowledgable, efficient and smiling the entire time. The food was awesome and we were able to acknowledge this to the chefs behind the counter. The presentation of every meal will pleasantly surprise the first timer to this restaurant as each dish is arranged and cooked to perfection.
All of our group were so impressed, not one of us would hesitate to recommend Fred's Not Here to any and all!
