We had tickets to the theatre and decided to go for dinner before hand The place was a great choice ,great good , and our server was great. Would definitely go back
we very much enjoyed food and service prior to theatre
Came here for winterlicious and there were both highs and lows. The steak was not cooked properly for those who ordered it - asked for medium and came out rare. By the time we received the food there was no time to send it back and wait for a second time. Good thing the soup was filling!
We went for Winterlicious lunch and enjoyed every course. I ordered my steak medium rare, and it was perfect 👌🏽
I am never disappointed here. The menu is always interesting and the food excellent . The service is also excellent - prompt attention but never rush you . Great place before or after theatre
Lobster bisque with puff pastry was the best!
The lobster and crab bisque is to die for! Love!!
Winterlicious menu was very extensive. Service was a bit slow but given it was Winterlicious and they had many tables with large groups, no complaints there. Would definitely come back for the food!
Winterlicious. I like the baked lobster and crab soup and the mango & blueberry cheesecake. New York steak is just ok. Nothing special about it.
The lobster and crab soup was freakin amazing! Steak was not at all seasoned which made it very meh. Tastes like the cut it off the cow then cook it. Dessert was great also
The lobster and crab soup was to die for!
Very busy atmosphere, friendly staff.
We had a reservation and were seated quickly and our waitress was very friendly! Can't wait to go back again!
From out of town (Calgary) excellent food, service and atmosphere.
Have dined here on several occasions. The menu has a wide variety of choices thereby giving options for the vegetarian, the seafood preference or the beef / chicken eater. The Lobster and Crab soup is a wonderful appetizer with its puffed pastry crown. I would have liked the soup to be a little thicker. Steaks were cooked exactly as requested. Fish was moist and tender. The apple blossom desert was just the right size to finish off the meal.
The staff is knowledgeable, attentive and consistent. It was so nice that our server remembered us from an earlier visit last spring. It made us feel welcomed and valued.
Went for a holiday get together with my sister and it was great! Delicious food and quite quiet after the theatre crowd headed out. Overall it was a really great evening and I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have a great meal at a great restaurant.
Took advantage of the Lobster feature lunch prior to a theatre performance. We enjoyed the Lobster Bisque, were happy with the steak choice and lobster fettuccine. Service was friendly and efficient and we were on our way in good time for the show.
Have dined at Fred's Not Here several times and were happy with the quality of the food and service. Unfortunately this time the food was not up to the excellent standards we have come to expect from Fred's.
Food was very average. If this restaurant wasn't in the theater district it couldn't survive
Lovely ambience, quality food and professional service. Great for a romantic dinner out in a classy spot with a hit of old world charm. Our first visit, but we will go back again the next time we head up to Toronto (from Niagara). Great vibe!
A relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Very close to the Princess of Wales theatre. The menu is full of great choices with something for every taste. The prime New York strip steak with fries and veggies was cooked as ordered and very tasty. My husband had the slow roasted angus beef brisket with mushrooms, noodles & spinach which was tender, juicy and very, very good. We will definitely eat there again and again.
Unfriendly welcome, mediocre service but the food was good. Restaurant wasn't busy but everything had to be asked for. Server seemed pre occupied I personally wouldn't rush back.
The experience was made superior because of our server Mark. He was attentive, efficient and friendly.
My partner had to return her steak as it seemed to be an inferior cut of beef, but Mark returned with a proper cut, done to perfection.
We would certainly return again.
The dinner never happened. They accepted the reservation then chose to close early. After taking an uber across town, in the snow with 5 people, we got there as they were locking up. I knocked on the door and the manager/owner opened and yelled at me that I just "should have known they had the right to close early?" They then proceeded to called me for 2 days and not leave messages, or say anything when I answered my phone. Very very very bizarre.
Fred's Gumble a good deal and quite spicy! Restaurant a little bit noisy.
Traffic in the vicinity was terrible making getting to the restaurant difficult but the food and service made the trip worthwhile.
I have been going to this restaurant for years and love the lobster and bisque soup as well as the coconut shrimp. The steak was cooked to perfection, there is certainly something to be said for flame broiled steak. All in all a great meal in a cozy restaurant.
The service was fast since we were on our way to Second City.
It was a special treat for my birthday.
Everyone enjoyed their meals tremendously.
Love the lobster crab bisque soup and paella! Always my treat and reasonably priced
Fred's Not Here had the perfect atmosphere and ambience for the out my friends and I had planned. We never had to speak at a super high volume as the restaurant noise level was perfect all night. Food was delicious and came promptly. Our server was amazing all night helping with all our needs. And all in all a great experience!
The "cuteness" of the name is probably the biggest thing the restaurant has going for it. Service was okay; the biggest disappointment was the food -- underseasoned and pretty ordinary, although the prices aren't (not surprising considering the high-rent district they're in). The hit of the evening for me was the chocolate-banana bread pudding. But it was a lot less expensive than the bacon-wrapped filet that basically just lacked flavour.
Used to dine here 20 years ago when this was a cool....Not anymore!
Great service and good food. Awesome steak. It's a small place with good ambiance
We were a big group with several kids, the staff were very nice and accommodating, food was good and we had a great time!
The 6 hour brisket was like a day old piece of dry roast..terrible
Waiter said we would be floating in mushrooms
Combined 3 meals ..total of 4 mushrooms
Fred should return
Service was very poor-server was distracted and made several errors in orders. Good was fine.
Great restaurant in trendy King west Toronto ... the location and atmosphere are perfect for dining during TIFF.
food was very good reasonably priced, service was quite good. I would go back again whenever I am stuck being downtown Torronto
Great spot for a business luncheon or simply a bird's eye view of King West.
Great service & food--had a very dining experience!
Good food and attentive service. Our server over heard that it was a birthday celebration and surprised us with a desert and candle free of charge. That was so nice and unexpected!!
We booked a large group of eight people for an early Sunday evening dinner. We ended up arriving earlier than expected and the restaurant was very accommodating, getting us seated immediately. The young lady serving our group was absolutely amazing. Knowledgable, efficient and smiling the entire time. The food was awesome and we were able to acknowledge this to the chefs behind the counter. The presentation of every meal will pleasantly surprise the first timer to this restaurant as each dish is arranged and cooked to perfection.
All of our group were so impressed, not one of us would hesitate to recommend Fred's Not Here to any and all!
