Lots of good food choices, wait staff good and aims to please
went here for the special Fred's bagels that were said to be some of the best bagels in NYC. and ended up extremely disappointed. For bagels that are said to be made Fresh and ONLY on Sundays, the ones we received were toasted and hard - not fresh at all. Bellini's were $22 each. went there knowing the expense, but experience was really ruined by the awful bagels.
This is definitely not the place to come if you just want to catch up with friends. It was the weekend, but still - no one wants to pay for a dining experience where there are screaming babies and loud children. The food is overpriced for just being okay (fish was overcooked). There is nothing really remarkable about the food.
I went to Fred's in Chicago and remember it being SO much better.
Is a little pricey
We were shopping all day and wanted an easy dinner. It was raining so the window view wasn’t great.
Consistently good food and service. Not noisy — can have real conversation. Low key and comfortable. Gracious staff.
I like Fred's, but please reserve. Service is not loving unless you go frequently
Our waiter was inattentive to the point of my embarrassment as it was my recommendation for our special lunch. Really horrible
What a missed opportunity with the venue’s branding, especially for a fashion forward retailer once known as a trendsetter. Front of house uninviting, boring menu design, stale interior, generic salt and pepper shakers. No discernible brand presence aside from the name Fred’s. Matchbooks? Paper coasters? Dull. Uninspired. However the food is dependably good and the service very attentive.
It was a great Friday afternoon birthday celebration for my daughter. Loved the opportunity to browse int he store after a great lunch!
Oustanding lunch with the usual great vibe! Always a destination when in NYC.
The staff is fantastic. From the moment you arrive until you leave, the service is professional with a personal touch.
The Amish Chicken Livers are just stupendous!!! Also enjoyed the Vegan Salad.
We love coming to Barney's for lunch and shopping. Great, buzzy scene too:
ladies who lunch, Asian tourists who lunch, business execs who lunch,
and a sprinkling of celebs who lunch!
Very good and to my delight they even have vegan food on the menu
There vegan frittata is the best I’ve ever had
Will definitely be returning
It was so cold in the area of the restaurant we were seated. We had to keep on our coats the entire time and drink hot tea to make it through lunch
Excellent from start to finish. The calamari appy was the best ever, perfect.
Ladies who lunch salad heavy men
Excellent food and service. I loved it. Very nice atmosphere
Being told to wait outside in the hall twice is not a great welcome when one is on time. The table was jammed, and unstable. The waiter did his best. The salad was overdressed--not the best thing for pencil-thin ladies.
Such a great place for after-work meetups with friends!
Fred's is always a treat. The scene is fabulous -- socialites, editors, designers, celebs -- and the food is great. Menu includes comfort classics (lobster club sandwich), salads, fish, steak. And the staff is super friendly. I can't think of a better way to spend a lazy Sunday.
Disappointing after dining there frequently for more than 10+ years the food and portions were ordinary but the prices were high for what you received.
Just love Fred's for dinner as well as lunch. Can finally hear myself speak at a great restaurant!!
Our server was so attentive! Really fabulous shrimp salad. Great atmosphere. Will be back!
Service was prompt, but servers should never reach across guests to place or pick up silverware. Interaction was minimal. Decor was OK considering it's inside a department store.
I was hoping that our dinner would be better than recent reviews suggested, but unfortunately the food was mediocre and the service sub par for a restaurant at this price point. The staff that served the food had no idea who ordered what ( we were only 5 people) and the waiter never came over to see if everything was okay. My daughter ordered at steak that was $48.00 and it was so salty that it was almost inedible. Overall it was a very disappointing dining experience.
Love the food and space
Usually love it there but food was inedible and wait staff completely overwhelmed
Total waste of money and I have never said as such sorry but it was the worst experience I have had there ever TY
This Was A true pleasure
We attended a gallery opening nearby and went for dinner.
My only one complaint: the bread wasn’t warmed and it was stale.
The food was great other than that.
IT WAS QUIET, restaurants are so noisy these days. We loved it! We could actually talk to each other.
Overcrowded and loud. Because of that staff where disconnected and not very pleasant. Food was not the best quality.
SUPER FUN and food is always consistently GREaT. It is quite the hassle to still have to wait for your table after you made a reservation...but after all this is NYC!
The food - oily, not interesting flavors;
Service is pretty good- attentive, large staff;
The hostess excellent, sensitive to out needs;
I love the store- the food needs to get better.
Nice place to go with good food and close to lots of great shopping
Fred's is THE place for dining while shopping on legendary Madison Avenue. The experience will not disappoint. One recommendation -- do not go to Fred's without a reservation.
One of my favorites. Consistently good food and service.
It was great!
The rudest waiter ever.. borred doing his job.. insane
Been many times over the years and today I felt both the level of service and food really let the experience down.
