The best restaurant with the greatest french fries. The staff are all helpful and friendly. My favorite go to order is the Marks Madison salad and of course the famous French fries. Always a pleasure!
especially waiter, nabid
must tell you... that is a very stupid requirment.
i have taken the time to review
Always enjoy lunch or dinner here, especially after shopping at Barneys. The seasonal tortellini stuffed with carrots was outstanding!
Nice experience and food. Only drawback was that when I arrived and we were 2 of the 4 guests, we could not be seated until the third guest arrived. A little disappointing. But all in all, a very good.
It was fine , nothing extraprdinary
Unfortunately we had a couple who insisted on sparkly loudly about their political views and all we wanted was a nice quiet lunch.
Fun place for lunch with good food and excellent coffee
Gorgeous food. Wonderful service. Never fails to succeed all my expectations!! Amazing French fries and the best chicken Milanese ever!!
Will always return whenever I’m in NYC. Thank you Fred’s 😋
It's always a pleasure to dine at Freds, I've been doing so for nearly 20 years. The food is excellent and fresh, wine list is extensive, and the service is perfect! Great eats and good people, what else do you need!
Food always on par.
Atmosphere loud and energetic.
Definite upper east side crowd.
Perfect, as always!
A “ladies who lunch” place that’s quintisential New York City. Great for people watching, with a nice selection of lunch salads but nothing was special, unique or memorable. To be fair, the tuna tar tar was tasty, chunky and fresh, but prepared in the same soy sauce-sesame predictable style. The grilled hen of the woods mushrooms were perfectly grilled but the balsamic reduction was overpowering. This was a birthday lunch which I enjoyed for the occasion but wouldn’t recommend it with so many better choices in NYC.
I always get the chopped chicken salad, but I've now discovered brunch and the huevos rancheros. With a glass of champagne and a best friend, it is the perfect meal!
Very nice food, friendly service,, a good spot uptown and HANDY if you feel like shopping !
Good and dependable. Maybe little expensive but thats how it is :-)
BON Appetit !
My favorite place to have lunch when I’m in NYC! Everything was outstanding as usual! Can’t wait to return on my next visit to the city.
Fred's is one of my favorite restaurants. Excellent food, great service!!!!
The food is always delicious at Fred’s! The crowd and ambience is ultra cool!
Hostesses are incredibly rude. Awful.
Don’t go for the food, go to see who else is there.
Fred’s..... it’s all happening at Fred’s. For those social creatures who love to be seen this is one of those destinations........, but, don’t discount the food or service. My roasted shrimp with lime and ginger was delicious. Beautifully thought out. The shrimp were skewered on a rosemary stalk. The bed of white beans was lightly crushed with just enough lime and ginger. The serving size is ample for lunch, even though it’s listed as a starter.
From the greeting as I entered until the goodbye on leaving, nothing was too much trouble.
So shop your heart out!!! Burn those calories!!! Then you can have a guilt free lunch at Fred’s.
Oh...... the coffee and biscotti were excellent.
Requested a table by the windows as I had two international guests with me. Instead, we were seating in the smaller dark room at the worst table against a dark wall under the AC. Service and ambience were non existent.
Best italian restaurant on the UES
My husband who is difficult to say the least commented “I so really enjoy coming here”
Best Rosh Hashanah dinner ever- Including mine and I am a good cook. would recommend noodle kugel next year.
Staff was lovely
Took us on time
Fred's is a place to go to be seen and to see. It's fun for people watching. A melting pot of tourists and locals. You don't have to shop to go to Fred's, the menu alone is likely to hit a dent in your wallet. Depending on your idea of "value." Some of the salads range from $28-$38, but they are decently sized. My friend and I dined with 2 teens and the bill came out to $115 excluding tip. We were seated in the dinning room off to the side. It cane be the quiet area but I think during the weekend, that's where they put all their guests with kids. Needless to say we were seated next to a table with 5 small children. Does not equate to an enjoyable dining experience. If you're with well-behaved kids or adults who need some peace, ask for the main dining room.
I went to people-watch and soak up a total New York ambiance. It delivers that, but my $29 chicken chopped salad had dry and tasteless chicken and a tasteless dressing. It’s not hard to make a good chopped salad, Fred. The service was also lackluster. I won’t seek out this restaurant again.
Did not appreciate having to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated when I was on time for my reservation and other “regulars” when enthusiastically greeted and sat immediately and there were plenty empty tables in restaurant.
The only disappointment was the hostess. She had an attitude, other than that the waiter and food was great
Always a fine experience.
The food was great tasting and scrumptiously satisfying
Sadly, we didn’t have a great experience here and we really wanted to. We were seated at a less than optimal table next to the bar, which I can get over. What was disappointing was that our waiter was very rude and inattentive. I took my daughter to New York for a special mother daughter weekend. He disregarded us, served everyone around us before us even though we were seated first, and just had an overall snarky attitude that made us feel like we were impositions to him. The food was not that great- over cooked eggs Benedict- and side salad without dressing. We could never find him to ask for dressing. When he dropped (literally tossed) the check on our table, he didn’t say thank you for coming , how was your food, nothing. Never had this happen before and we travel quite a bit and frequent many restaurants all over the world. Really sad that was our experience here, as it will not be forgotten. First time here and last.
Enjoyed the lunch:lots of good choices; pea soup great; Profiterole dessert was one of best....
Salads were fresh and delicious.
Service was excellent.
A little pricey.
Very disappointed with service and food
Fred’s never disappoints! Food is always good, wonderful menu choices and service.
Always a treat! Never disappoints.
I have been a fan of Fred's on Madison for a very long time. The food is still delicious and the service is excellent. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal... plus there is the store. And I have seen more celebrities at this restaurant than any other - which makes it even more entertaining.
On a spontaneity for a lunch on a Friday, it again didn’t fail my expectations for a nice comforting meal and wonderful experience for us.
