I went there with my husband for sunday brunch. It was nice we had some eggs and crab cake. The prices were alright. Service was good. Nice memory.
It was delicious! Wonderful experience!
I was there before and it was wonderful then too!
Very Consistent! Service was on point!
Can’t wait to go back.
Thank you once again.
Everything about it was great. Love to go there every time we come to New York
Good food, excellent service and a quiet ambiance in which you can actually have a conversation with your dinner partners.
Excellent service and food
Salad was bland
Food was perfect. I had an omelette, my friend ordered the branzino. If you like fish, I really recommend the branzino- I've never tasted it better prepared. The split pea soup was pretty bland- I added a lot of oil and salt and pepper to give it flavor. But I just have to begin every meal with soup...
However, the service was definitely subpar. I had to ask multiple times for tea that I ordered as soon as I sat down. The waitress also took way too long to take our order, despite my clear attempts to get her attention. She seemed more solicitous to the larger parties, which is irritating. I've had better service in most new york corner diners.
Really don't understand why this restaurant is always packed. The salads are good, but nothing exceptional and soooo overpriced. Place is very noisy and they make you wait for your table even with a reservation. Service awful. Just a New York hyped place, and I live here.
Fred's is an elegant and comfortable oasis in the middle of Manhattan. Excellent food!!!
Server had too many tables going at once. Had to get her attention for service several times. Bar was also slow.
My sister and I were in town from Toronto Canada for one day for the Springsteen on Broadway show and we walked to Fred’s for a later afternoon lunch before the show. We shared a margarita pizza and the vegetarian salad. Both were excellent and it was plenty of food for the two of us . It was expensive for us and we just had water to drink. The service was fast and courteous . I would definitely go again and share a pizza and salad . Even if you are on a budget for your visit to NYC it is great food and huge portions. We enjoyed walking through Barney’s after our lunch - it is a very high end department store for folks with a lot more money than us but fun to ‘window’ shop.
This is our second visit in. the past 2 weeks and we feel like I came to a different place.
I shared a wedge salad on March 27. It was SO TEENY, there was practically nothing in the plate.
This time it was my friends shared one: it was a Huge portion for both people who were sharing it.
I ordered Fred’s pasta the first time, it was fantastic.
The second time, the noodles were skinny, and frankly, it was NOT Good AT All. in fact it was pretty awful.
My husband also didn’t like his fish.
I’d guess the best time to come here is for lunch, because the waiters all seem like they want to go home.
Excellent service and awesome food!
Great but packed bc Easter Sunday I presume. Always love Fred’s though
Service was extremely slow given we went for a light lunch around 2:30pm. We didn’t leave until after 4 which was ridiculous.
Passover - but far too expensive
F. OI’m f to be
Still a solid staple in the nearby vicinity to the office for people watching and a well balanced menu.
Had a fun afternoon lunch with friends at Fred's! The food was delicious especially the Madison salad with pizza & could have had the entire basket of bread they served which was crisp & which I added a little olive oil to. Had made other reservations but felt this was the perfect spot which it was & which I hope to return to soon.
Best lasagna ever!
The crab cakes and broccoli rabe were outstanding !!!
Disappointed in my meal this time and we didn’t even get offered bread! I got the lobster club that was just ok....perhaps next time we’ll try another restaurant....
Hen-of-the woods mushrooms wonderful as was the grilled salmon entree. What could be bad about espresso and mocha chip gelato?!
over price food was just ok drinks were very weak
Always a delight and the people watching is hilarious
The world’s best French fries, the menu, the execution and the service can’t be beat.
Lots of good food choices, wait staff good and aims to please
went here for the special Fred's bagels that were said to be some of the best bagels in NYC. and ended up extremely disappointed. For bagels that are said to be made Fresh and ONLY on Sundays, the ones we received were toasted and hard - not fresh at all. Bellini's were $22 each. went there knowing the expense, but experience was really ruined by the awful bagels.
This is definitely not the place to come if you just want to catch up with friends. It was the weekend, but still - no one wants to pay for a dining experience where there are screaming babies and loud children. The food is overpriced for just being okay (fish was overcooked). There is nothing really remarkable about the food.
I went to Fred's in Chicago and remember it being SO much better.
Is a little pricey
We were shopping all day and wanted an easy dinner. It was raining so the window view wasn’t great.
Consistently good food and service. Not noisy — can have real conversation. Low key and comfortable. Gracious staff.
I like Fred's, but please reserve. Service is not loving unless you go frequently
Our waiter was inattentive to the point of my embarrassment as it was my recommendation for our special lunch. Really horrible
What a missed opportunity with the venue’s branding, especially for a fashion forward retailer once known as a trendsetter. Front of house uninviting, boring menu design, stale interior, generic salt and pepper shakers. No discernible brand presence aside from the name Fred’s. Matchbooks? Paper coasters? Dull. Uninspired. However the food is dependably good and the service very attentive.
It was a great Friday afternoon birthday celebration for my daughter. Loved the opportunity to browse int he store after a great lunch!
Oustanding lunch with the usual great vibe! Always a destination when in NYC.
The staff is fantastic. From the moment you arrive until you leave, the service is professional with a personal touch.
The Amish Chicken Livers are just stupendous!!! Also enjoyed the Vegan Salad.
We love coming to Barney's for lunch and shopping. Great, buzzy scene too:
ladies who lunch, Asian tourists who lunch, business execs who lunch,
and a sprinkling of celebs who lunch!
Very good and to my delight they even have vegan food on the menu
There vegan frittata is the best I’ve ever had
Will definitely be returning
