Always fun here - great food - very friendly nice staff and a great ambience and location
Fred’s at Barney’s Downtown is an understated, elegant space, nice menu options and excellent service.
Our entire table ordered the Thom Browne designer burger and it was outstanding - the add-on of the mini bottle of Moët was a nice touch!
Cannot wait to come back to my favorite lunch spot!
I love Fred's and eat at the uptown location frequently for lunch with friends and dinner with my husband. I usually order my favorite salad for lunch at the uptown location and ordered the same salad at the downtown location. The salad was really disappointing and nowhere near as good as the one I am used to having uptown. Also my friend had the french fries which are usually the best in the city and they were soggy and very average. At the end of the day it was a very nice atmosphere to meet a friend and catch up where the uptown location can be noisy and frantic for lunch, the service was fantastic and we were comfortable sitting at our table for almost two hours having lunch and catching up. That being said, I will be dining at the uptown location from now on.
Always have a great time at Freds for either a drink or a full meal. The bar tender and staff are amazing.
A pleasant restaurant for a relaxed but sophisticated meal
Exceptional service and food.
We love this place and visit again and again
Jimmy, our server, wins everything.
The service was less than normal for a mid-day visit. Always enjoy the consistency of the food. Disappointed no longer get points for visits here - detracts from the value.
A very late lunch so the room was quiet. Our server was wonderful and we stayed and chatted with no pressure to leave. We went specifically for a special menu and it did not disappoint.
Food service and ambiance all great and consistent.
Great food and service!
Wonderful as always
Love Fred’s. Food and service is great. And I love that they never rush you. You can take your time and have a nice leisurely lunch!
Our first visit to Fred’s downtown and we were delighted. Visually a very pleasing and attractive environment. The menu is delightful and not overwhelming. The only issue and really a complaint are the portion sizes. Take note when ordering
Thank you for a great experience! The Rick Owens burger was 10/10 👍🏻🙏🏼

Everything was great will be going back soon
I ALWAYS ENJOY MY FOOD AT FRED'S. CLOSE TO HOME AND ALWAYS WELCOMING
Mostly all was good with the exception of not getting our appetizer before our main dish.
And they didn't remove it from the bill.
Disappointing. We come to NYC once or twice a year and this is a place we always go for lunch. Maybe this was just a one off bad experience. Started off with my wife being sat at a table where another table backed on to ours with two women with long hair. The problem was that the tables are connected in such a way that their hair is resting on our table. I showed up a moment later and asked if we could be moved. While the hostess was very nice about moving us, she acknowledged the problem with the table - so why seat us there in the first place, as there were several other open tables. Most importantly, the food was not good. Looked forward to the always amazing chicken soup because have had it so many times. This time it had no flavour. Had to add lots of salt and pepper, but that only helped so much. I ate less than a quarter bowl. Waiter never even asked how it was or why so much was left. My favourite chopped salad with tuna also was different than past visits. Just lacked flavour like something was missing. Again - ate maybe half because was hungry. On the bright side - the fries are still amazing. Service was also disappointing which is unusual. Lack of attention. Chasing waiters for another drink or even for pepper, as ours was missing from the table. No one ever asked how things were. Again, maybe a one off bad experience and they are so busy that maybe they don’t care, but there are so many other great places to dine in New York that one of our New York regular places is off the list.
Chic restaurant on the 3rd floor at Barneys downtown. Perfect spot for a lunch with friends while shopping or a business lunch. Lots of great salad options. Windows overlooking Chelsea. Fantastic service.
Get the over-the-top insane Bloody Mary - fully loaded, bacon infused, and DELICIOUS.
Mediocre at best, the kitchen was extremely slow. Painful
Great brunch place
I love this place. The food, ambiance and service are consistently great.
Great spot for the “ladies who lunch” crowd and those of us who like to take time out for an intimate, special lunch every so often. It was perfect for a quiet catch up with old friends. French fries are excellent, as is the service. It’s expensive but you don’t go to Barney’s if you aren’t expecting expensive.
I love this unpretentious, light-filled space as well as the wonderful menu and wine list. The Maitre'd and staff are always polite, welcoming, friendly and accommodating . Requested a low-key birthday surprise and they managed it perfectly.
It's a an easy. unfussy place to go and the food is wonderful.
Son and daughter birthdays
We always enjoy eating there with friends. It’s particularly good for relaxed conversation over good food.
It's our favorite go to place. Nice atmosphere, a good place to talk with friends and enjoy a good meal.
Exceeded my expectations. Sophisticated, quiet. Waitstaff, food quality, ambience were perfect. Can’t wait to go back!
Great chic downtown spot especially for lunch. Super cool design with elaborate artwork and the most divine green velvet chairs. Server was very friendly, every dish was superb & with nice selection of wines. Don’t skip the Fred Pressman salad.
A hidden gem I discovered on Open Table. The food and service, in particular, were outstanding.
Incredible like always
My go to place. The best. Such amazing, friendly staff — everyone’s like family!
Two things that stand out: food and service. Ambiance is not offensive, rather bland, neutral, does make one feel being in a store, sort of. Having said that, the noise level is low, so it's great for conversation and that's a good thing, one can focus on the food, and one's company.
The food is actually quite good, tasty, but above all, abundant! The portions are huge! Who would have thought, at Barney's!
And the service is exemplary, friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. Great for lunch or brunch!
Always a great time here
We wanted to order everything on the menu but we decided on the pizza a salad French fries and pasta and all was delicious! The bloody Mary’s were a bonus to our meal!
