Frederick's Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Love this place. Service is perfect, food is lovely. Thank you David for your service and friendship... We call it our Country Club. Always feel welcomed. You get to relax the moment you enter. Wether you wish to relax at the bar or have a great evening with friends in the dining room, the culinary experience is always excellent and consistent. We really enjoy dining there.
I was looking for something different in San Antonio away from the touristy area along the River Walk. I found a gem. Sure, it is in a strip mall, but once you get inside, you forget that there are all the usual retail suspects right outside the door. Fantastic food - really, one of the best meals I have ever had in my many years of visiting San Antonio. If I lived within an hour of Frederick's, I would eat there at least once a month. Run, don't walk, to get there.
This restaurant has a wide range of selections from which to order9. Our server, Sophia, was charming and very adept. Our party of four had two people on walkers, which were gently helped... easy access table, and good place for walker storage. It was expensive for me as I was just the " poor relative " who agreed to drive them. (No one else has a driver's license!)
A very good place to dine either for Happy Hour (5-8:00) or for a regular dinner. The selections of food and wine are many and varied. The theme is French-Asian fusion. The proprietor is normally there and pays attention to his guests' service. Prices for dinner and wine are a bit high for San Antonio. Plenty of free parking available. Servers are knowledgable. It is open daily, unlike many other fine restaurants in San Antonio which tend to be closed on Sundays/Mondays. Frederick's is my "go-to" restaurant for the entire north side of the metro area whether for Happy Hour or a regular dinner either alone or with friends from out of town.
We were a party of six friends who get together for good food several times a year. Two of us had been to Frederick's Bistro before and the rest were new to the restaurant. We all had a terrific time of it. The food is always exceptionally good (we really recommend the escargot with Spanish chorizo appetizer). So few restaurants are quiet anymore Fredericks excels at being conversation friendly. It is by far our favorite restaurant north of loop 410 and south of 1604.
Usually I went there for business lunch and love the food and service. I have an out of town friend visiting me this past weekend and immediately I think of this nice restaurant and made reservations. As usual, another happy meal there, the owner and the wait staff are outstanding on top of their delicious meal entries.
We are repeat customers at Frederick's, and are always very happy with the staff and service. The food is generally excellent, but this time we tried their Lobster specials. Although prepared well, the lobster was tougher than it should have been and not very tasty. That may be more of a comment on the lobster we can get in San Antonio these days as opposed to any issues with the kitchen. But based on our usual experience at Frederick's, we'll definitely be back - just not for the lobster!
We've been going to this location since it opened on NW Military Drive and have never had anything less than an exceptional meal with usually great service. This time our server was Nicole and she was definitely at the top of her game....courteous, friendly, informative, and professional. Frederick's provided us with the same old same old....a thoroughly enjoyable with great food & great service in a great atmosphere.
This hidden gem is in a strip shopping center in northwest San Antonio. When we drove up, we said, "uh-oh" but we wanted to honor our reservation. Once we stepped in the door, however, we were very pleasantly surprised to see a lovely formal dining room. Service was great, with a caring and attentive wait staff (but not hovering, thank goodness). The food, however, was the star of the show. Both my husband and I ordered fish and they were perfectly prepared. Desserts were good too. We will go back again!
The food at Frederick's is always delicious. Even as a vegetarian I always find plenty to enjoy. Tonight we had the Brussel Sprouts appetizer, which was enough for 4. I had the Frederick's salad. It had just the right amount of dressing so the salad stayed crisp. The augratin potatoes with sauteed mushrooms were my main course. Again big portions. I always love their apple crepia for dessert. It is no too sweet. I had plenty of leftovers to take home.
I wasn't impressed at all. The menu didn't seem exciting, and the fact that there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant with us didn't seem right. It made things depressing. It wasn't a memorable experience, and I don't plan on going back. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't special especially for the price.
