Excellent food, A little pricey, but definitely very good.
Everything was great!!
I noted in my reservation that it would be a business lunch. We got a table in the corner, where the table was cut at a slant to line up with the wall. Because of the slanted table being wedged up against the wall and tight into the corner, the person against the wall was squeezed in tight, and I had to sit in the edge of my seat to reach my plate. I thought we would have had one of the bigger tables against the window and was very disappointed. It was so tight that when the person against left her seat, she knocked down the plate next to her. It was an unfortunate end to a business lunch. I generally like the place, but would not recommend it for that. There is also no gluten free option, other than salad.
First time actually eating here and the food was delicious, the atmosphere as expected, and the service was sub par. It was quite stuffy inside temperature wise but as it wasn’t overly crowded the noise level was perfect for dinner with an old friend. Glad I finally got to try it.
Great service and ambience but the food we had was not good. Pea soup had a weird taste and was not appealing and the chicken pot pie had frozen vegetables in it that were not fully cooked. Onion rings were very greasy. Overall pretty disappointed with the food.
The location and historical background was interesting. The food was excellent! The service was awful. The waitress didn't care about us. But I would recommend the place just for the delicious food.
Great food, great service, excellent value, no more to say.
Honestly the ambiance was amazing however the food was about inedible. Even our drinks were not good. Really disappointed considering we had looked forward to going for a month.
When I arrived I received a very friendly and welcoming greeting by the men at the front desk, and I was seated immediately upon arrival. My fish and chips meal was very moist and delicious. I would have given 5 stars instead of 4, but my friend said his salmon burger was too salty. The waiter was very nice too. The reservation process was fast and easy. I have eaten at this restaurant many times and will definitely return. Thank you.
The atmosphere is fun-historic and cozy. The beer was tasty and the chicken pot pie was the best I have ever had! I highly recommend Fraunces Tavern Restaurant. The location is really convenient too for tourists—nearby the stock exchange, near the Ellis island ferries, close to 9/11 memorial, and with a museum right upstairs.
Wow, wow, wow. From the minute we walked in, we were greeted with great service. Lovely gentlemen at the front desk and such attention to detail. Fantastic food and reasonable prices. Kids menu was a bonus and we felt welcome with our 8 year old son. In NYC this is a rare find. Thank you for a lovely evening making us weary tourist parents feel relaxed and cared for.
I have 3 kids (ages 11-15). When we made our reservation, the host told us because we were a same day reservation, he had to sit us in the bar... It looks like a great bar, but not the place for 3 kids, we were about to walk out and the manager noticed our discomfort. She quickly checked the tables and moved us to a great location within the restaurant. She was awesome and because of her, I'll be back the next time we visit New York (and, the food was really good).
Nice authentic place. Very friendly staff. Good food and good wine
Food was mediocre at best. Service was rather slow to get our orders taken. I probably should have ordered a burger instead of pasta. It's my own fault
The steak was absolutely delicious, and cooked exactly the way I liked it. My friend's ravioli was amazing. The service was superb, and the price, while expensive, was not unreasonable. 5/5 on all points!
Great food and service. Enjoyed the entire experience.
Loved everything about it. All the different rooms. The history. Food was great. Can’t wait to go back when family visits.
Enjoyed the Brunch menu on an early Saturday. Food was excellent and the Bloody Mary's were nice and spicy.
Great ambiance but the food not up to NYC standards
Nice ambiance, as long as you’re not in the bar the noise level was great (low). Food came quickly, together and piping hot.
Fun to have dinner where George Washington "ate here."
Everything was great. The background music was really cool. We were nine people and we had five different lunches. Everyone was very pleased. Price was reasonable and portions were generous.
Fish and Chip always my 1st choice there.
Been there one every few month and is always consistent.
A friend recommended this place for us while we are visiting the city. We loved it. You can feel the history. The food and beer were really good. Try a charcuterie board with a selection cheese and meat for an appetizer. Very yummy after a day walking the city. The music was a little loud but the servers were polite and attentive.
Food was good but service was polite but a little weak and slow.
Excellent experience for out-of-town guests. The waitress wasn't overly friendly, but the waiters made up for it. The food service was also incredibly slow but we weren't in a rush (just a note to those who do have a time restriction). Great overall.
Slow lunch service even though it wasn’t very busy
The table reserved wasn’t available and we had to just grab seats at the bar.
Best. Pot. Pie. Ever. Joined family here during vacation and we loved the bench seating at our table. I wish our reservations had been earlier than 8 pm though...very accommodating staff, but it was clear when 9pm came around the dining room needs to be vacated!
Great food and drinks. in a historic site
Staff was friendly, easy to get a reservation at the last minute and ambiance was lovely. Lager made for them is EXCELLENT!!! Fish &Chips and burgers were very good.
It's worth it to go for the atmosphere and I would definitely check out the Whiskey Bar another time but overall our food was good but not great, the service was good. This place is really all about the atmosphere.
When we walked it the it was like stepping back in time. We had the fish and chips and they were delicious. We will definitely come back here again!!!
It was like stepping back in time! Highly recommended.
Chef: need avocados in the Avocado Salad if you’re going to call it that. :)
The chicken pot pie is absolutely amazing!! The best I have ever had. My husband had a salad which was also good. We also shared a dessert which was delicious!
Really inspired by the history - didn’t end up getting to eat here. Long story - I’ll post the pics I took the night before instead.
We had reservations but took 50 minutes to receive our appetizer. Wait staff were great but kitchen overwhelmed by number of diners on July 4. The holiday occurs on the same day every year and blame management for not planning accordingly.
It was July 4th and they were VERY unprepared for the crowd! It took us almost two hours to get our food, my husband’s chicken was cold and my chicken pot pie was more like chicken soup. We were never offered an explanation, bread, or anything while we waited but we could order more drinks! Most people got up and left after waiting for food that wasn’t coming. The small bar in front and the Irish bar tender were lovely though and his cocktails were outstanding!
We came here to experience a bit of history. 7:00 reservation. Sat at our table promptly, but didn’t receive our food until 8:45pm. It was 4th of July, so we had time to kill until the fireworks were to begin down the road anyway. Regardless, offering bread at the table to nibble on would have been nice. The food was just okay. The meat on my pork ribs was tender and fell right off the bones. Flavor wasn’t anything to note. My partner’s NY steak looked more like pot roast. Fun atmosphere and lively setting.
