When I booked my table, the only availability was the upstairs Piano Bar which serves the full dinner menu. The room is beautiful; the food is great; the service is extraordinary. HOWEVER, that singer and that piano. Good grief! I expected music, this being a piano bar, of course, but the musician needed to adjust her singling and her playing for the relatively small size of the room. She was loud enough to be playing the Hollywood Bowl, and the music made the possibility of any conversation at dinner nearly impossible. We asked our server to move us as far away from the piano as possible, so we ended up across from the bar right by the entrance, where at lease some conversation was possible (though not without effort). Very relieved when the musician took breaks; unfortunately they lasted no more than 15 minutes. I've been to piano bars before; background playing and singing are lovely, but if you want to talk to your dining companions, avoid this room at all costs. Once again, though, I want to acknowledge the beauty of the room, the quality of the food, and the helpfulness of our server; she was wonderful.

Overall, we had a great experience. However, we dined at 5:30 and we understood that there were several happy hour specials going on. When we reviewed our check and inquired as to why the discounted prices were not applied to beer and oysters, the server stated that those specials only applied to the bar, and not to the restaurant. We assumed it was for the restaurant as well. Just left a bad feeling for us after a good meal.

Our server was great; the food was delicious. While I know there were just two of us, the hostess sat us at the tiniest table. I had to ask another server to move our table so I could sit down, there was a man sitting at the table next to ours and while I am thin, I couldn't fit in the space between the table and the other guest's chair. It was a lot louder than I thought it would be given the ambiance of the place. But again, food was delicious, and our server was great. It's a great spot for lunch.
