Traveling to NYC for fun.
Returned from KC and was happy to share the experience with my sister and daughters. Nice museum upstairs, included with lunch.
Just a great spot. Warm service. Food is solid. Best bet downtown.
We went to Fraunces Tavern (three of us) for an early dinner before a show. We love the history of the place, but the food is top notch as well. And, not to be missed if you are a fan is the great selection of whiskeys. They make a good cocktail to boot.
Visiting from Los Angeles with family.
I had a reservation for 4 people at 7:30. We were told to camp out at the bar and at 8 were told there was no table available. The hostess in the bar found us a spot to eat there as they had not accounted for us in the dining room at all.
love this place - has so much character everywhere you look - make sure to wander through the various rooms and, if you're there in the day time, check out the museum. After the great meal take a walk to battery park - just around the corner!
It was not as crowded but it was on a Tuesday and had a thunderstorm so it was perfectly quiet.
We had a large group, with reservations. I think we overwhelmed the staff, as the steak on a stone were way over cooked for many of us. They usually arrive rare and the steak continues to cook to the temperature desired. They arrived well done, a big disappointment. There’s no way the staff did not know they delivered us these filets overdone.
I’ve been here many times, and it’s always fantastic. This time, I was disappointed in our steak on a stone. The first few people received their steaks rare, which is good because the steaks keep cooking in the stones. The last people to get the steaks, they were just too well done. They were ruined, and this dish costs $42 a plate.
The service was good, but just not enough staff. I think the second group of steaks just waited too long to get to our table. We had a group of 20, with reservations so they knew we were coming.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at Fraunces. The food was excellent and the service beyond expected (thank you!!). The drinks we had were the best ever. A standard all others will have to reach!
Excellent brunch in a charming location. Portions a bit massive, so maybe share.
We love Fraunces Tavern. Been there before. Great atmosphere, good band. Food OK, but not great.
Been going to this establishment since 2013 and it never disappoints.
Nice place. We had 5 little kids and while waiter was great, it was not a place for little kids
There is always great but this time one dish was cold.
Historic restaurant, cozy, very good casual fare.
Never ever disappointed! Delicious food!!! Pot pie, fish and chips, burgers, salads, all scrumptious!!!
Fraunces was fantastic. Had lovely time there celebrating my best friend’s acceptance to Columbia Law school. Highly recommend.
Perfect get together with out on f town guests.
Great food. Unique ambiance
We took visiting family for dinner. Always wanted to go to this oldest building. Dinner was wonderful. The place is so charming. Do walk around and see it all. We had a great evening.
The food and service was wonderful. I love the decor and feel of the tavern! I will definitely go back there.
Excellent service, food and atmosphere.
I love the historic setting and the wooden tables with perfect candle-like lighting. Our food was delicious--homemade pasta dishes. The cheese platter was also great. The wait service was excellent. Great dinner.
Ordered the new York strip. It was under seasoned and burnt.
Fantastic menu with lots of choices for drinks. The atmosphere was fantastic and really enjoyed the service.
Fries were cold-service and staff are lovely
My food was delicious (butternut squash ravioli) and our shared appetizer was practically fought over it was so good (grilled asparagus). That said, the service was lackluster. We had 6pm reservations, walked into a nearly empty dining room and were sat against an old covered up fireplace by the kitchen instead of one of the 6 open 2 seater tables with views. We asked to move (when the waitress showed up 5-10mins after we were seated). We were given warm water in dirty glasses. We mentioned it was a birthday but no acknowledgment (not required but it is always appreciated). Overall, I recommend the food and the warm, quiet atmosphere but wouldn’t go here if you prize service. (Also- skip the soda bread that is complimentary - it’s so dry I had trouble swallowing it and had to gulp down my tepid water to avoid gagging).
We recently celebrated my husband's 60th birthday with a few out of town friends. My husband is a huge history buff and enjoyed the history of the tavern. We were fortunate on a Sunday afternoon to have live Irish music which added to the celebration. We will definitely return to Frances Tavern and hopefully have an opportunity to visit the museum.
Service was seriously poor. I wanted to order a hamburger and asked if medium was pink or red. The waiter told me he was a vegetarian so he didn’t know. Shouldn’t he still know the food? Ordered medium, came burnt and dry. Yuk. The waiter never checked on the food or to see if we wanted desert. He was totally disinterested in his job.
Skip the Tavern but don’t skip the museum.
Wonderful brunch! Really enjoyed our visit to this most historical building. The price fix brunch was abundant and amazing!
Jazz brunch was very good but the service was very very slow, maybe they need more servers.
Unsure of what to expect, we found great food, creative cocktails, and excellent food. Will recommend to others and plan to return to Fraunces Tavern
Food was excellent. Seating is very open with seating for larger groups in the middle. This elevated the noise level, though being on vacation, we didn’t mind. It was interesting to see people from all over come together in this historic building.
It was cool to have dinner here because of the history.
We made reservations a couple of months in advance, and we were put in the overflow dinning area (there were 5 of us). We know that because the manager was giving a tour to someone, they stood next to our table and he explained that it was the overflow area. No other customers were back there for our entire dinner. It was a high traffic area for severs, which was annoying. Food was ok, not worth the price. Drinks were incredible.
My family and I were really looking forward to dinner here, but were very disappointed with the experience and food.
I very much enjoyed my birthday dinner at the Fraunces Tavern! The table was ready at the time of the reservation and was right in front of the fireplace. All of the waitstaff were friendly and responsive. The food was excellent!
We arrived a bit early to visit the museum and enjoyed that as well.
Very cool, historical place! Nice place to go and get away from the NY hustle and bustle!
