Fratello's Restaurant & Lounge
Come by for dinner and the best martinis in town, or hang out at the bar and enjoy an appetizer and a delicious specialty martini.
It was a great experience and the food was outstanding. The staff were so kind and added to the experience as a relaxed and upbeat restaurant.
Our first visit. We had a reservation and was seated timely. The waitress was efficient and attentive; our food was delivered within a reasonable time and was hot and tasty. The noise level was a little loud but we were there at a very busy time. We look forward to our next trip.
Monkfish entree on the Special menu was delicious!
Great dinner for our 14th Wedding Anniversary ! We had such a nice time and our waitress was so attentive.
Always a great meal at Fratello’s! Lively crowd and music by Who’s those Guys!
The service was horrible, our waiteress was not to be seen. Our waitress took about 10 mins. getting two more places settings, for a table of four. We waited about 20 minutes after getting wine for drinks before she took our order , we never got our water refilled, never got bread even after we asked for it when we got our food. She never came back to ask if everything was ok with the food. When we finished she never asked if we wanted dessert/coffee and then we had to ask the host to find her so we could get our check ! That took another 15 minutes to process and it wasn’t a busy night . The other tables around us were rolling their eyes as they were getting bad service too. I will never sit at a table here again, I’ll sit at the bar instead.
Place needs a facelift big time. Wait staff were courteous but appeared to be overworked maybe due to inadequate amount of help. Food was mediocre , at best.
If one judges the cleanliness of a restaurant by the bathrooms .. BEWARE! The ladies room was one of the worst I’ve been to in a very long time. ! Would NEVER go back!
1st time at Fratello's, will definitely re-visit.
Appetizer: Half dozen of oysters. Poor quality. Smallest BluePoints I've ever seen. If this is typical, PASS!!
Entrees: Blackened Chicken Salad. Ok, nothing special. Large portion which is more than enough for one person. Lobster Ravioli special....this was excellent tasting and cooked Al Dente. Six large ravioli for $24.
Dessert: Lemon layer cake was very good.
Server (Tracey) was excellent.
Bar atmoshere which was nice with a few outside tables
Grouper and halibut recipes all very goid
After a long trip, and tho we arrived at almost 10 PM the night before Hurricane Dorian arrived, the restaurant owner and staff were very welcoming. We had a delightful, relaxing evening at a very pleasant patio table, with wonderful food and fun music, and we stayed til almost midnight, watching the football game. We'll be back!
Now I know why this restaurant had an opening for 7 on a busy holiday weekend. We won't be back. Cocktails barely had any alcohol and weren't mixed properly. The waitress wasn't personable and barely checked in. We had to wave our hands around and chase her down to get service. 3-hour wait, from the moment we sat down to the time we left. We waited for about 45 mins to place a food order. The penne alla vodka was runny like soup. At least 4 others at the table barely ate their meal. It was brought home for our "pet" raccoon to eat in the back yard.
The restroom is so tiny! There's nowhere to wait while inside, the door will slam you either by people entering the room or leaving the stalls. There are barely any windows in the joint so if you like eating in a dark hole with beaming table lights then this is the place for you.
Had reservations for 8:15... didnt sit till 8:45. Waited till 9:30 for 1 appetizer. Followed by more waiting for dinner. Food was good but overall not a great experience. Oh and several wAter glasses had lip marks including pink lipstick on my daughters glass.
It was a busy night... apps came right away but was more than an hour until we got our dinner. food came and was not so great. Maybe would have had a better experience another night.
Another excellent meal at Fratello’s!
Great service and good food. Always enjoy our dinners at Fratello’s
Great as usual.
I have never actually completed an online review in my life, but there is always a first time. We had reservations for 3 through Open Table for 7:15 on a Sunday. The hostess seemed to be overwhelmed, which sort of became a concern, but we were seated relatively close to our reservation time. That was about the highlight of the experience. It took almost 15 minutes before we were acknowledged by any wait staff, so we were already good to order our drinks and food. We ordered two appetizers, three entrees, one martini and everyone else water. It took over an hour to get the appetizers!!! Garlic shrimp, which had no garlic or flavor to it, and five cheese ravioli. I had to keep flagging the bus boy to get refills of our water. Another ½ hour later came the salads with came with our meal. They managed to keep the one requested without dressing right, but served the other with some sort of creamy dressing on top instead of balsamic on the side. 1 hour and 45 minutes later, our entrees arrived. The gnocchi was just caked with garlic, we are big fans of garlic, but literally the sauce was garlic soup and you could not taste another thing. The Shrimp Andrea, came with over-cooked shrimp and an entire cooked box of fettucine, with absolutely no flavor. The salmon was also over-cooked and lacked any sort of flavor. Minus the food which, could have been an off night, we watched other parties of 4 get their food timely and leave the restaurant before we even received our entrees. So to call the service slow is a compliment. At the end of the day, what really was disappointing, was not even once between the long wait periods did the server come over to check in with us, apologize for the delay, offer us more water. Pretty sure we noticed while exiting, our server just hanging around chatting away with a co-worker at the bar. I would like to think she was waiting for an order, but I think that is being too kind. Inattentive would be the word to use and never going back.
Enjoyed a lovely meal seated outdoors. Friendly service. Kitchen accommodated my dietary needs. A very pleasant evening.
We enjoyed a delicious meal at Fratello’s this past week while on vacation on the Jersey Shore. Have passed it for years but thought it would be too fancy/fussy. Not at all, rather we found it to be comfortable and homey. Our food was very good and our server, Kitty, was friendly and efficient. We will definitely go again on our next trip down the shore!
Great food and amazing service!!!! Definitely will be back.
My first time at the restaurant. Overall, an excellent experience. The food is delicious and plentiful, the service was very personable, and the prices reasonable for the quality of the food. Will definitely return frequently.
The food is worth it
Everything cooked fresh to order
Nice selections of specials
Unfortunately typical low end restaurant bs ie: tap water, moving around of tables and chairs while your trying to enjoy your dinner, dirty bread basket, not on top of water refills when that’s all ur drinking, not clearing the table when your all finished even though you didn’t want coffee or dessert
Service extremely slow. Sat for 20+ minutes before even being acknowledged. Sat at 7:45, dinner was served at 9:40. Food was delicious, but not sure it was worth the wait. Everyone seemed to lose their appetite at that point. Hoping it was just an off night.
The restaurant needs a rehab it is very dark and old.
Good food and service. Convenient parking for my 94 year old mother. Thank you very much.
A Fratello’s is a reliable old school Italian restaurant with very nice ambiance and and great food. Highly recommended.
Rebecca our server was a delight. She guided us through the offerings. I had “little purses” filled with pears and goat cheese in a light broth. My husband had eggplant Parmesan. The bread and salad were marvelous as were the wine and mojito. Great way to fuel up for the Sea Girt 5 K
Made reservations at 8:30 but was a busy Saturday night and it took over an hour and a half to get our meal. The food however was VERY good and I will definitely go back...just maybe not so late.
After a four year hiatus because of a very bad meal, we tried again but, alas, the food was mediocre at best, the service ok but the kitchen screwed up the order so the wait time was too long, on a not very busy evening. It will be another 4 years before we try it again.
Food was okay. Service decent, not rushed. High energy bar atmosphere.
We love Fratellos, but this time we had been there about 15 minutes and our waitress rushes by our table and plops this lucite frame on our table and walks away. We were all confused by this and turned the frame around to read that they have policy of parties less than 4 people on a Friday night would only have 1 1/2 hours to eat before they needed table back. Are you freaking kidding me? that put a damper on the entire night!!!!!!!!! there food is great, service is always top notch and we've been there with entertainment and had a lot of fun. But based on this stunt, I will think twice before returning. I know what they were getting at, but this was just plain rude. Tell people this verbally when they make reservations..................
Great experience as usual.
Very disappointing great local place with a long history. Service was poor at best extremely slow and aloof. When the food finally arrived it was not worth the wait. No taste cold and inadequately prepared. Extremely frustrating. If you are going to wait long for less than mediocre food you might as well go to a chain restaurant.
Fratello’s Restaurant was wonderful. I was delighted tio see wild salmon on the menu - it was delicious. Prices were extremely reasonable. And, I live the fact that the espresso coffee was served full cup without the annoying “single or double” question that most restaurants ask you
I booked a reservation around 4:00 today for a 7:45. It gave me the option of a high top or a regular table. I selected the regular table option. When i got to the restaurant I went to check in and they said they only had a high top available. The high top table that I was put at was stationed directly behind the bar serving station. I sat down next to my girlfriend and felt like we didn’t have space. The table was so small that there was no room to put anything else besides what was set up already. I then went to the hostess and asked for a different table and she told me that because I booked on open table I get whatever table is open. She was not nice about accommodating us. She then proceeded to tell me that it was going to be another 30 minutes until she could find me a different table. So my girlfriend and I decided to leave because we thought it was unacceptable. I don’t understand why open table gives you the option to pick what type of table you want if they aren’t going to give it to you. I always thought that open table was used to make reservations at restaurants but the hostess made me feel like it didn’t matter if I used open table or not. So we decided to take our business elsewhere.
The consistency of the quality and cooking to perfection amazes me!
Friendly staff...good selection of wine and beer. Menu has good selection of Italian favorites and specials. Soups are very good. Nice salad. Bruschetta to start. Delicious bread—served warm. The freshest, cleanest fish...reasonably priced. Homemade desserts. Music on Friday evenings. Large bar has room for dining.
I shouldn’t rave so much...I won’t be able to get a seat! (Very busy in the summer)
We arrived just prior to the prime time dinner hour and were able to be seated at a comfortable table outside. The french onion soup and red snapper special were delicious, although I would pass on the cesar salad in the future. I would also stick to the italian dishes and red sauce which were also very tasty, as opposed to the steak. I would definitely eat here again and recommend to a friend.
Always consistently good! Fun to introduce friends to one of our favorite Jersey Shore restaurants!
Good for and service. Matt our busboy was very attentive. The waitress was very efficient and friendly.
Portions are huge. No room for desert.
I had the lasagna and it was so bland, I didn't finish it. I had reservations and there were several booths available but said we'd have to wait for one. They seated us in the back in front of the kitchen door. It was freezing back there and not conducive to a romantic dinner at all. We gave this restaurant a second chance because prior to this evening, I had made reservations for another night at 8 and we waited until 8:30 when were told it might me another half hr. . .we left. And that was a week night. We won't be back unless it is to sit at the bar and have a drink since we had a great bartender while we waited for our table
