Fratelli's Italian Bistro - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter was on her phone a lot.
She also never refilled our water. We tried grabbing her attention from our seats but failed to do so as she was too busy checking her cellphone. We stopped caring until I started choking / coughing so my date proceeded to get up, go to the bar where she was, and ask for water. Other than that she seemed nice. The salmon was great - amazing sauce - never had sauce like it before. The calamari, okay. And the crab cake tastes like imitation crab meat.
Also, the three course meal is $28.00, not $25.00 like it says here
The main issue I had was the service not being up to par.
The food and ambiance at Fratelli's were both great. My only complaint really is the service. The server we had was very short and when she was clearing our table was extremely loud and clanging silverware against the plates to the point where it was disturbing. Otherwise, it was a nice place for a family dinner and an extremely convenient location.
This is for Open Table and not the Restaurant. I was very disappointed that I could not use my $20, 2000 Point Coupon for this luncheon as I had promised a friend. When I called open table I was put on hold twice for 40 minutes, once at the restaurant and once when I returned home, so I imagine that is a bogus phone number for customers? When I signed up for open table I did not realize that I could not use the coupon at the locations in which I had amassed points.
Service in the restaurant was outstanding. Server and hostess were very polite and professional. I ordered the Atlantic Salmon. I had them put the sauce on the side as I wanted to make sure it wasn't too spicy. The sauce was great. Unfortunately the salmon had no flavor. It was almost like tasting paper (in my opinion). The sauce made the salmon edible so I didn't complain.
When I originally made the reservation, the website somehow made the reservation one day earlier. I called the restaurant and they fixed the problem However I asked for a conformation e-mail. The lady said she would take care of it, but I never received a conformation e-mail from her. Very inefficient. I then looked on the website and saw she did at least fix the problem.
Bottom line- nice service as a whole but food was not that great. I don't think i would go back there again.
Just OK. The floor was sticky, the food was fine, the server was friendly but inattentive (never checked on us or offered to refill our drinks which we all had finished), and the restaurant was nearly empty...should that have been a sign of others' experiences there? There are many other (better) options in Center City. I won't rush to return.
WE had the onion soup which was very good. My husband ordered salmon and it was delicious. I had the crab and avocado salad and it had a lot of flavor....it also had mango, spring mix, cucumbers, tomatoes and a delicious dressing. We had a great waitress!!!! thank you.
Great city center location. Very good service. Zero ambiance. Terrible food. With the exception of two bizarre paintings at the back, the walls are blank. The menu looked promising (reason why we'd booked). Unfortunately the food leaves a lot to be desired. The calamari were bland and chewy and served with what tasted like mayonnaise straight from the jar. My salmon aurora was almost inedible: cheap, frozen salmon fillet with a bit of tomato cream sauce poured over it (which had never seen either a lobster nor cognac) with what tasted like reheated pasta. Really bad. My husband's chicken valdostana wasn't much better. Children ate from the kid's menu and left most of their food. No ice cream on offer, despite having a kid's menu. Very expensive - $100 - for less than mediocre food. Overall, a big disappointment.
Loved our after theatre get together. The food was absolutely delicious. I took mine home so
I could enjoy it later after all the flavors had a chance to really blend. Even better the second
time around. The rest in my fellow diners also enjoyed their meals. We have added this
restaurant on to our favorite dining list when we are in Philly.
Our server was VERY unprofessional. She threw her hands down on our table to introduce herself and the specials, which she recited with her eyes closed. The server took our food order and we had to flag her down to come back so we could order wine. The food was mediocre for the price we paid. We asked if we wanted dessert and then before we could answer our server just walked away. The atmosphere felt as though the restaurant was trying to be fancy but falling way short. I wouldn't recommend the food to anyone but the wine was delicious.
Disappointed all around by this restaurant. Our server was cordial, but not particularly warm and friendly. We were seated near the front door, on an exceptionally cold evening, so that every time a customer entered, we were literally "blown away" with a blast of cold air. The hostess who was directly in my line of vision during each "blast", took no notice of our situation. She appeared to be more interested in socializing with co-workers. My iced tea tasted as if it was instant, not brewed. The bread brought to the table was cold, and seemed as if it was not made in house. The entrees were extremely expensive for their size, although several at our table enjoyed their food. I ordered a salad and was surprised at how little it contained considering its price point. I would not return.
